I believe the constantly motivating, welcoming, and body image-accepting atmosphere that Anytime Fitness of University Heights fosters and encourages is unparalleled. Previous to joining this gym, I was only well-versed in aerobic equipment, i.e. elliptical, treadmill, etc., and as a small female I was only comfortable with this same aerobic equipment. With my entry into Anytime Fitness, I received a tailored a personalized weight lifting workout to my newfound weightlifting interest and was taught how to utilize each of the machines (new members are gifted three free personal training sessions). Once timid of the weight lifting arena, I am now more than comfortable even if I am the smallest individual lifting, let alone the only female (this gym is also laid out as one large room, creating an atmosphere of invitation to newcomers to try all the equipment). Further, I would like to comment on the safety of this facility; as a 24-hour facility for members, this gym has 24/7 surveillance systems running, as well as personal emergency-buttons accessible to members working out at odd hours of the night. With that being said – I have never seen a member have to use these wearable-emergency buttons BUT the fact that managers offer this option is all the more comforting. Lastly, the gym appears to be very involved in community services initiatives – year round they have cardboard boxes filled with old sneakers from current gym members to be donated to local high schools; they also maintain a current initiatives chalk board for members to post on to promote local events– really goes to show the quality of character of those running this facility. My only critique of this gym is that there was only one female, one male, and one unisex bathroom – only the female and male bathrooms offered a single shower unit. Overall though, I would recommend this gym to any and all Cleveland and Cleveland Heights residents – its unique to find a gym where the owners/managers know you by your name and face and greet you at the door!

If you are considering joining anytime fitness in University Heights I would reconsider. The online advertisement is false and they do not let you test the gym before you join and hand them money. The owner was rude on the phone and even more rude in person. He could not answer any of my questions and would not let me try out the gym without receiving a money order form. I am new to the area and wanted to join a local gym. I have belonged to a local gym since birth and workout five days a week. Since my schedule in constantly changing, I thought having a gym that was accessible anytime would be great. However, it would not be this gym!! The inside of the gym looked like my small private college gym, except my college gym is free. They do not offer classes. The owner described a boot class camp that would soon be offered. I have taken many boot camp classes in the past and loved them. However, do not let him fool you. This boot camp class is set up in "intervals," how he described it. Instead of taking a class together with people there are different stations that are set up to work out. I did not understand the difference between this and working out in different sections of the gym without paying the over $100 class fee. Therefore, if you are looking to join a gym save yourself the trouble and look somewhere else!

Selfishly, I never rated Anytime Fitness before because I didnt want this gym to get too busy. Now I am moving to Manhattan and I am sad to be leaving. Heres why I love Anytime Fitness in University Heights: 1. It has great equipment - all new stuff and all of the cardio equipment has its own cable TV. (Precor ellipticals in case it matters to you - it does to me :-)) 2. It is so clean. The manager keeps the place very clean and when youre done working out their are equipment wipes AND spray bottles with towels depending on your wipe-down preference :-) 3. Hence the name, you can go anytime - sorry this is obvious but as a mom, I have to squeeze my workout in whenever I can - its nice to know it is always open. 4. It is so convenient - I cancelled my membership to a much larger gym over on Richmond Road partly because it took so long to get there. Also, at Anytime Fitness you park right outside the front door and once you enter, the equipment is right there - no workout time wasted. 5. The price is right. As I mentioned, I belonged to a much larger gym and cancelled my membership because I found I didnt use a lot of the amenities I was being charged for. Anytime Fitness University Heights is a great gym for people who like to workout on good equipment and have limited time to do it.

I find the description of December 28th written by busybee to be odd and I suspect it was written by a competitor who is trying to discredit this gym. My first visit was November 11th, 2011 and the owner offered me a deal to leave Curves, but he was not rude in person or on the phone. I was allowed a full seven days to try the gym as many times as I wanted. I did so five times under no obligation at all whatsoever and then joined. I dont know what a money order form is. Money orders come from a bank or post office and I dont see how one would be a requirement. The description of the classes makes little sense. This gym is not small inside. The ceiling is two stories high and airy and there is plenty of empty floor space, a huge separate room for classes and a general feeling of gleaming, state-of-the-art equipment and spotlessly clean welcome. Its like working out in a giant brand new car. The owner and his wife have been nothing but gracious and helpful and I look forward to many years of convenient, pleasurable, professional experiences.

I have worked at and been a member of many different gyms. This Anytime Fitness local has been my favorite so far! The space is clean, open and well organized. It is never over crowded, which I really appreciated. The machines work great, including the TVs that are attached to some. I went to gym in the past with TVs, but they were always broken! Not the case here! I membership agreement was fair, and after a year I was able to change to a month-to-month contract. When I had to end my membership the manager was incredibly polite. In the past ending a gym membership has been a nightmare! Not this time though. I will miss coming here and encourage others looking for a new gym to join!

The location is great--just about 5 minutes from my house. The owners are very friendly people, always greet you when you come to work out, and work very hard at taking care of the facility (Sohail is cleaning almost everytime I am there!). It certainly isnt a huge mega gym like others in the area but it is spacious and has everything I need to get a good workout and its very rarely crowded. I really like the aspect of being able to work out anywhere as I travel a lot for work. I am happy to be a member and would definitely recommend this gym to anyone else.
