I needed to ask the clerk who processes the passports questions basic questions, she was incredibly rude. I wasnt taking anyones time because nobody else was there. Every time I go in, (which is a lot) they purposely move extremely slow. Every clerk moves incredibly slow & its not because they are trying to be careful. I get the direct feeling while Im waiting that they are all incredibly incompetent! Last time I was there a girl was getting her passport photo taken. The cameras battery they use wasnt charged. The clerk said "Oh we never put it on the charger". They couldnt take her photo and wasted a lot of everyones time. My kingdom for a stinking federal job that doesnt require people to be efficient, timely, thoughtful, kind, or helpful in anyway! On top of that they lost my passport only to be upset when I insisted that they go & look again. It was a miracle they found it shoved between the wall & where it should of been. Incompetent City! I swear the skit from Portlandia about US Postal workers was based on this post office location. Anyone giving them a good review is suspect & is probably working at the post office. Probably leaving a good review under a fake account. Seriously, no one in their right mind would give them a good review unless they were stoned, lying, or bribed.

I am new to this little town and had I known it was openly racist I would never have moved here. This morning I was behind an Asian man who was trying to pick up a key for the mailbox to his house. His house. The post office apparently changed the lock without telling him and forced him to go to the post office to get a new one. He must have not provided sufficient ID because Im pretty sure he left without it. Its like Soviet Russia living in this place. I didnt know places like this still existed in the United States. Ive had nothing but problems with my own mail, but they were openly racist to this guy, sniggering and making fun of his English and then laughing at him as he was leaving. As others have said, the level of incompetence here is staggering. They stand and talk to each other for at least 20 minutes before taking the next customer and they spend an inordinate amount of time checking to make sure everyone has had enough breaks. I think the post office is now worthless, at least in this racist town. I feel like Im in a rendition of Deliverance.

This post office is the worst. They need to pre-screen their employees for literacy. Ever since I moved into my house 2 years ago Ive had to deliver mail to my neighbors weekly because the mail carrier has put it in the wrong box. When I first moved the post office could not get it straight that our address ending in 12 and the neighbors address ending in 13 are different. Perhaps because our last names were so similar (Robertson and Robinson). I was exchanging mail with them several times a week. That home was foreclosed on 2 years ago and still sits vacant, but because of it MY MAIL keeps getting returned to sender. This has resulted in me paying late fees for utility bills I never received, credit cards cancelled because they think Ive moved and left no forwarding address, and most recently, Ing Direct freezing all my asset accounts because my order of checks was returned as moved with no forwarding address. Come on Albany Post Office, grow a brain!!!!!

Ordered a few things from a department store. They were divided into two packages both going to the same house. One of the packages was delivered. The other package said it was sorted & out for delivery. That was on a Saturday. Nothing came Saturday, nothing Monday, nothing Tuesday. Tracking still said out for delivery. I called them Wednesday and they said they couldnt read a number or something so they sent it back. How could the one package make it & not the other. One company, same address. I called the company I ordered the products from & they tell me those products were sold out or they would have just sent me another. I bought them at a great sale price being it was black Friday week. I can order again once they are in Stock but it will cost me $60 more! So disappointed in the Albany post office. Horrible customer service! Very rude when I called. Will not be doing any business with them again!

Today I had a truly superior experience in the Albany, Oregon main Post Office (2nd Ave.). I went in with a ton of questions and confusion about renting a new P.O. Box for my family. The counter person who assisted me was named "Diana" and she was especially service oriented, friendly and very generous with her time explaining procedures. She completely answered all my questions and provided useful information about using the P.O. Box. She even went out of her way to make sure that I got a waist high or better Box due to my back arthritis problems. This young woman was one of the nicest customer service reps that I have ever met.

Abysmal. The clerks behind the counter are nice and all, but the incompetence of this location is staggering. 2 moves to and from Albany and BOTH TIMES the Albany post office screwed everything up and it took almost two months for my mail to be forwarded the first time. We are at a month and a half this time and still no mail. Its unbelievable how hard it is for this office to get mail forwarding corrected. Never have I dealt with such incompetence from a public or private institution. Ive had to pay for a stop-payment and reissuing on a check that is lost somewhere in limbo thanks to the fools at this location. Ridiculous.

Ive consistently had trouble with the postman getting his lazy butt out of the vehicle to deliver a package. Ive watched them sit in their vehicle and fill out a "sorry we missed you" slip. I even caught up to one and called him out on it. He lied saying he came up to the door and rang the bell. I watched him the whole time. Lazy, lazy, lazy. Today I heard the truck drive up and and within a minute went and got my mail. Another "sorry we missed you" slip. He never came up to my door. There were three adults within 15 feet of the door at the time of the delivery. Ive complained about this about half a dozen times.

Everytime I have visited this office, its for repeated mistakes on their part. Which after every visit we are reassured that these multiple issues will not happen again yet they always do. And when trying to call the contact number listed, it is a vague voicr message saying your call cant be completed. Just to make things better, when trying to take the issue upstairs, by calling the main customer service number, you are basically given the bird by being told by a recording that the wait times are around 3 HOURS. everytime Ive called its been some unrealistic wait time. Youre a federal agency. Get your S#it together.

Wish I didnt have to give 1star. Two years ago my boyfriend changed his business mailing address from our house. They started forwarding all of our personal mail...my name wasnt even on the business address! We lost numerous packages since it was during the holiday season and took 3 weeks to get sorted out. Had a package delivered today but because they use those group mailboxes now, my package got stolen by someone that appears to have broken into all the shared package boxes. Cant wait to be on hold forever when I call and have that followed up with poor customer service and a lack of accountability.
