Had a procedure done on 08/01/2017 after slowly losing my hair for 20 years... I made my decision to go with Dr. Gabel after reading patient reviews and cross checking information for dozens of hours, over several months. Correctly doing your homework before choosing the right surgeon is very time intensive but critical… So let me cut to the chase with the piece of advice I would give to myself if I could go back in the past for one minute and allow me to get back all these hours I spent combing through blogs, forums and other websites: “Contact the Gabel Center with your pictures and questions, he will answer you with his assessment and answers, possible medical solutions like Finasteride, Minoxidil, low level laser therapy, and a potential solution via surgery. Schedule the pre-op appointment and surgery, then when the time comes, travel to Hillsboro and stay at a hotel for the week. Everything is going to be more than OK… Dr. Gabel is not going to sugar coat it or promise a hairline down to your eyebrows (which would be an aberration anyway), he will help you in making the right medical and aesthetic choice for your face, age and expectations… The surgery is going to be ridiculously successful so go for it!” Details of my procedure: FUT: 2067 grafts + FUE: 302 graft, same session, took a few hours, lunch was offered by Dr. Gabel, staff really nice and sharp. To know what to expect during the procedure, make sure you watch this video of Dr. Gabel’s modus operandi… from 2010 but still very relevant: look for "Hair Transplant - Real Patient Testimonials and Results by Dr. Steve Gabel" in Youtube => I saw it after the surgery and what he describes is exactly what happened. The difference is that now there is an Alexa speaker in the room and you can ask for any music you want :) Im still early in my healing / re-growth process so here are the pictures I have for now - before and after 2 and 3 weeks. I will update this review at later stages... Basically, my hairline was gone, and now its back. (Please note that these graft are supposed to shed and re-grow stronger within a few months). Also Im taking Finasteride 1mg once a day, using Minoxidil 5% twice a day (on the whole scalp) and Im using a Capillus 202 every other day for 15 mins...

Dr. Gabel and his staff are simply amazing. I had hair restoration done with Dr. Gabel back in November 2016. His staff were not only very polite and professional, but welcoming. Dr. Gabel was extremely thorough and made everything easy to understand from the consultation to the operation day and during post-op recovery. On my operation day, we met in the morning and collaborated more in depth on my new hairline design. He and his operating staff spent several hours ensuring that my new hairline was the most flattering for my face. His attention to detail gave me the utmost confidence in his abilities. The surgery went quite fast. They completed over 1200 grafts before lunch. Lunch was ordered in and was worth a 5 star rating from the restaurant they ordered from. The second half the day flew by faster than expected. Dr. Gabel allowed me to pick my own genre of music and we had a little game of music trivia while he was finishing my grafts, 3166 all said and done. I experienced absolutely no discomfort during the surgery, his anesthesia skills are amazing. What little swelling I did have from the surgery subsided in a couple days. My new grafts shed in about 10 days, as expected. My new hair was coming in very full and very fast. At 2 months I had a lot of regrowth, and by 3 months you couldnt see any scalp in the transplant area. Im currently at 6 months post-op and have over an inch of hair. The work he did is simply amazing. My hairdresser couldnt tell that I had ever underwent hair restoration surgery. There were no cysts, ingrown hairs, or bruising during the recovery process. The scar from the FUT donor area is nearly invisible. The sutures were very small and precise. The head nurse at the VA Hospital in Seattle even had a difficult time finding them when it was time to have them removed. I chose Dr. Gabel despite having hundreds of other surgeons closer to me in the Seattle area. I honestly would have traveled further to see Dr. Gabel for this procedure. His expertise was worth every penny.

So this is the update I promised written1/12/17. My procedure was done before the Labor Day weekend in 2016 so its been 4 months and I am very excited by the amount of growth Ive gotten. As I wrote previously, I went to NHI in the 90s and many of their implants seemed to fail and no hairs came in, so much that they actually did a free transplant session. I can already see that Dr. Gabels transplants seem to be coming in on schedule and vigorously. In the meantime, Ive happened to talk to another plastic surgeon who asked me about my hair transplants and he had high praise for Dr. Gabel, also saying he was seriously thinking of going to Dr. Gabel for some implants, also. I dont know why the reason Dr. Gabels transplants are doing so much better than my procedures with NHI in the 90s, but they are. Maybe the procedures are better now or because Dr. Gabel is just a better clinician, but all I know is I saved quite a bit of money to stay here in the PNW and got a much better result with excellent staff who still answer emails I send them if I have a question. I dont consider myself especially vain about my looks and try to be philosophical about aging, but it was hard to start losing my hair in my early 20s and now in my mid-40s I am thinking I will have better hair than I did in my 20s. Im just tickled by this fact and I look at it as part of just enjoying my life and looking the best I can while doing it. (And I think itll save me at least an extra 30 minutes each day in the careful styling of my hair to make it look like I had more hair than I did, hehe.) So in conclusion, Im very satisfied at this point and look at it as a great investment in myself. And though my wife says she could care less if I had hair or not, I think she is happy to be able to look at someone who looks younger than his actual years.

3 days ago I had hair restoration by Dr. Gabel in Hillsboro and the whole procedure was a positive medical experience. Dr. Gabel is highly professional with his patients and from the time I arrived to the time I left, I was treated with great respect and kindness. I have had 2 previous transplants by other doctors, and I can honestly say that Dr. Gabel has written the utmost instructions for success. As in my other procedures, it was in and out with very little direction for care afterwards. Dr. Gabel and his staff show great pride in aftercare instructions. They provide you with pages of instructions that are easy to follow step by step to insure your implants are successful. As for the pain of the procedure, as in the past the pain was horrible, with Dr. Gabel, I had very little pain during procedure and virtually none afterwards. I can actually see the transplanted hairs standing up which is something I had not experienced from past procedures. I cant wait to see the final results! I can only state if you are thinking of getting hair transplants there is no better place, than at Gabel Hair Restoration.
