Here’s the short version, they are a family run business with great mechanics and even better people. Don’t let the name fool you they can do way more than just transmissions. I have taken my old junker in a handful of times and every time they have been excellent. Long version: they are honest people and I have always felt they have been more than fair. They don’t subscribe to the “good enough” mentality but instead take the time and effort to do the job right. I had them change an old muffler once and although they were not aware, I saw them look at the newly installed muffler and felt unsatisfied with the job and instead fastened new bolts throughout replacing the other ones to achieve a better fit (at no extra cost to me for the extra parts and time). It could have been easy to think good enough and it probably would have been fine but they went the extra step and I think that speaks volumes. I have other examples of them going above and beyond “the job” but I will simply leave it at, they are good people doing great work the right way.

When the transmission on my 02 Honda Passport started slipping I took it to a local shop in Forest Grove and was quoted over $4k for a rebuild. Looking for another opinion I came across Joe Garcias shop on a Saturday and didnt realize that he was the owner until after he had spent 10-15 minutes with me on how familiar he was with the known issues on my model of transmission and telling me all the options I could look into that would be much cheaper (imagine that!), but when he told me about the option to replace the transmission with a remanufactured one that came with a 5yr/100k warranty for less than $2500 I was sold. No games, no guessing how much the cost would be and he had me in and out in a day and a half (would have been a day if the supplied hadnt been a little late on delivery) but after hearing all the horry stories some people share with transmission repairs I can honestly say this one was one of the smoothest transactions Ive ever had and appreciated the openness and honesty of Joe and his crew and would recommend them to anyone.

I have an 05 Ford F-150 and I took it to Three Brothers. They recommended that I replace the transmission so I trusted them and did. Not long after that it was still having the same problems so I took it back and they messed around with it for 6 months and still couldnt figure it out. Transmission Manufacturer Portland Torque Products recommended that I bring the truck to Transmissions Unlimited. I brought it there and they fixed it within a couple of hours. The transmission wasnt bad it was just a wiring issue. They helped me with something in just a few hours that Three Brothers couldnt figure out in 6 months. They were amazing! Definitely recommend using them for any issues you have!

Joe offered to come look at my car, drove around for a bit to see what the issue was before towing it to the shop. I had some leaks that werent letting me drive past a few miles and a few pumps were replaced and he gave me an amazing price. A couple months later my timing belt broke while I was driving and Joe had it fixed again in no time. This business is run by integrity and most importantly, with the customer put first. Im sure a lot of mechanics would rip someone off about the state of a 1990 vehicle but Ive had nothing but professional and honest experiences with Joe and his staff who have gone above and beyond every time Ive gone to them. Thank you Trans Unlimited!

I delivered my daughter to Hillsboro for a summer internship with Intel and our 2003 Buick LeSabres transmission acted up after driving from Southern California. Joe was great, he diagnosed the problem in a minute, set us up for a one day repair and gave a fair price for the job. As a person from out of town, he could have tried to charge us more thinking, "these people arent local, I wont be getting repeat business from them." Instead he treated us a valued customer. My conclusion is that Joe is an honest mechanic who will do what is needed and charge a fair rate for a job done correctly. I would definitely return.

I just got off the phone with someone (I wish I had caught his name) at Transmissions Unlimited and he gave me some great advice about my car and what I should do next. I had called another mechanic about the same issue and they were telling me to bring it in and that it would cost anywhere from $1200 to $3000! He didnt pressure me to bring it in or anything, just advised me and gave me a very low-cost solution I can do myself. No pressure, very laid back and knowledgeable! When I do bring my car in to get it fixed up, I know where Im going! Will recommend to friends and family, as they were recommended to me!

Be sure to get an estimate before any repairs are done. Get it on paper, Joe sometimes forgets what he originally quoted you. Dont give Joe the impression he has a blank check to work with unless you have deep pockets. He is quite the salesman and will try to sell you tires after your car is ready, just so you know. Advertised price per axle for brake job is $99 for most vehicles, but YOUR car will be higher. Resurfacing the drums/rotors is an additional charge making it $150 per axle total labor. Pads are not included in that price and will be an additional charge (premium prices for brake pads).

I called and check for prices and told them I would come in at a certain time they were ready for me and had the parts thats I needed fixed my car and had me in and out in a hour.Price was fair and wasnt going to break my bank. They were extremely friendly and fast and efficient with other customers while I waited for my car. How they handled customers and I was so much better then some of the places near by and I was pleased definitely will be going there for now on. Ill definitely be going back again and telling others . Thanks so much for everything

Long story short, my entire engine needed to be replaced. The guys at transmissions contacted my insurance company and got a brand new engine sent out for my car without me having to do any of the work involved in dealing with insurance companies (can be really annoying). In what would normally be a 3 day minimum job to finish, the guys at transmissions unlimited got it done the day they received my engine. They may have had to work some extra hours that day, but they got it done and I was able to pick up my car that day. Car is running great.

Based on a recommendation from a friend, I stopped by to see if I could get a tire repaired or replaced. While I was talking to an employee, the owner walked up. I introduced myself, offered a handshake and the owner rudely responded "Who cares...". I was stunned. I was about to leave and then thought I should at least let the owner "Joe" know, that I came to him on a recommendation. He replied "Whats that supposed to mean?". I didnt even know what to say. I left. Waste....of.....time..... Wont make that mistake again.
