Credentials: I am a salesman (I sell industrial supplies for a living), I have done this for nearly 10 years now. I know how the sales process works. I understand that a business needs to make a profit, however I feel that there are several un professional practices that have been adapted by the Jim Doran sales team, specifically at the Dodge/Jeep/Ram/Chrysler/Mazda location. I buy a car on average about once every year(I love new cars so I consider it one of my guilty pleasures to waste the money). Experiences: I have gone into the Dodge (Im shortening the description) location here in McMinnville the last 5 times I have wanted to purchase a car, and every time I have been turned off by one thing or another. 1. It seems that out of all the times Ive been on the sales floor, Ive only met two sales guys who know about the product they are trying to sell. One gentlemen doesnt work there anymore unfortunately, the other is the online sales manager (but he made a mistake which Ill explain later). Example: I always ask three questions of the salesmen to see how well they know the sales process and their cars(I always ask other questions too, but these three I ask every salesman). If they are honest and say they dont know, then thats ok. If they lie and try to make something up, thats not good. A. How much gas mileage does this car/suv get roughly? B. Can you pull up the manufacturer web page? I want to build an example of what Im looking to buy. C. Explain to me how to lease a car through you guys. On all three of these questions, almost every salesman at dodge in McMinnville failed horribly. Two of them guessed at the jeep mpg and were way off, another couldnt explain to me how to do a lease or how it worked (although I already knew) yet he recommended I get a lease (imagine that, try to sell me something you have no clue how it works). Pretty much every sales guy I talked to could not operate the manufacturers web page at all except the online salemanager. It was pitiful to watch them try to pretend to know how to build a Jeep Wrangler off of the Jeep sight. 2. One time I went into talk with the online sales manager, and I brought my used car in for evaluation. He gave me a price for it and said it would be roughly close to that amount. I get a call from him later in the day and he dropped his price by $4,000. Apparently what seemed like a fair price changed after his boss got ahold of him. Here is an example of the transaction. Example: I bring my jeep in. The online sales manager quotes me $21,000. Later he texted me and said he would have to lower his price to $17,000. His reason was that NWJeep was selling the exact same model brand new at $18,000. Ok fine, I can kinda understand that reasoning... Except I asked him if he would price match NW Jeep if I bought a new jeep from him. He said no. So apparently I have to be competitive when I trade my car in, but he wont be competitive to the same people he used as an example. I still have the text messages on my phone, I show friends and we have a good laugh about it. I really do like the online sales manager, hes a good guy, but when he tried to sell me on the fact that I had to be competitive and he couldnt, that was a little ridiculous. Bottom line, the majority of the salemen here have no product knowledge, will not honor a quoted price even after the vehicle has been brought in, and are not competitive on sales price. I would recommend going to NW Jeep on canyon road in Beaverton. The salesmen there will trying to rip you off, but if youre careful and get everything in writing, at least youll end up with a competitive price (Ill put up with a lot to save $3,000) and at least the salemen are pretty knowledgeable about the cars. I went to NW Jeep and bought the new Jeep Renegade. I also have purchased a Jeep Cherokee through them. Both have been excellent cars with no problems.

Terrible! First of all, drove all the way to McMinnville from Portland to test drive a car. The sales person I talked to understood I was coming a long way. I asked aahead of time if there were any major issues with the car he said no, he had driven it, it had a strong engine and drove great! When I arrived no one greeted me. When I asked for Isaac they said ok and got him for me. Besides that, before and after the test drive, no one spoke to me or would look me in the eye! So rude. First of all the brake lights are out on the car! Illegal to drive right? He said well take it on the backroads. Like they didnt have time to fix it all day. Those mechanics werent doing anything at the time! Super sketchy. I get in for the test drive, right away I notice the car starts bogging down at 4000 rpms. I said, woah, this isnt right! Something is wrong with this. I said you text drove it right? You didnt notice this? He said he only drove it around the parking lot. Then he said well its only doing it in second.... we tried it and it did it in 3rd as well. I said you know that this isnt good right? He said "I dont pretend to know anything about mechanics." Totally playing dumb. What a hunk of garbage! Youre telling me youve been selling cars for 5 years and you know nothing??? I said test drive is over. Obviously a lemon if the engine is losing power. I later read that Kia Rios for that year (05 and 06) tend to have leaks in the exhaust at high rpms which sucks in air and drains power from the engine. Or something like that. good to know! Be up front especially if you know Im driving an hour to come look at that thing! And then lie to my face telling me you didnt know anything was wrong with the car!! I would say dont shop here. Obviously trying to sell me a lemon and wasted hours of my life and a lot of gas money to get out there!!! Avoid!!!

Bought a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee from them. Purchased in the evening and the next day saw a scrape on the front of the car next to the headlight. Easy to miss but had obviously been there for a while. In my opinion this should have been pointed out to us as it will cost a few hundred dollars to fix. When I told them about it they didnt care and basically said we got a good deal on the car and therefore wouldnt do anything about it. Lesson learned for next time to look the car over with a fine toothed comb. Drove out from Portland to buy the car and had a loan setup pre-approved from a credit union that they work with directly. When we got out there that night to buy the car they told us that they never heard back from the credit union and we would have to go through another bank if we wanted to get the car that night. They also told us we had to buy the car that day or the price wouldnt be good the next day. A phone call to tell us this about the financing would have been nice before we made the drive. The new banks rate was a little higher, not high enough to waste our time and money to go back out so we took the loan. Now a month or so later the credit union called to check up on our loan application. They told us that they approved that loan and arent sure why they told us that they never heard back. It wasnt a huge difference in payments but cost us several hundred dollars over the life of the loan. I feel like Jim Doran plays some shady games and I dont have good feelings about the business practices going on there. They think they cut us some great deal and therefore shouldnt act ethically. Will not return here again.
