After being butchered at Bishops 2 months ago - by Mallory who is the Assistant Manager (What was someone thinking?) -and ending up with frayed, thinned, way too short hair (I lost a foot of hair total) I went to several different hairstylists around town for consults. They were all shocked at the state of my hair. "She cut your curly hair dry?" "Where is the symmetry?" "Did she even have a thought process behind this chop job?" (to which I grimaced and said, "Apparently not"). Most stylists said I should let my hair rest and grow out because fixing it would mean going shorter. But it looked so bad I couldnt wear it down and didnt want to just pull it back into a tattered fuzzy ponytail day after day. Id been the girl known for lush locks halfway down my back for years. What a nightmare! Thankfully, I went to DOSHA on 34th & Hawthorne and consulted with Becca Schmidt who was at first skeptical to do a fix but after talking with me and feeling out my hair she felt she could do me justice. SHE DID! Though my hair is short she managed to save some length and give me a cut that I can wear with pride while my hair grows out. I am happy to say I have found my Portland go-to stylist now. And shes only $40! (But tip her $20 - shes worth it). If you have curly hair of any texture go see Becca at DOSHA. You will not leave disappointed. She has over 20 years experience! AND DON"T GO TO BISHOPS!!! Why take chances?

I came into bishops after my hair was butchered. Jessica didnt have enough time but took me anyways after I said I had company head shots the next day. She took the time to explain a few options for me and went to work. She spent hours trying to fix my orange hair. Im blonde and the salon I went to botched it so bad it was trump orange and white. She was honest and realistic to protect my hair from further damage. After highlights and toners she made it look great. With what she was working with....she was basically worked miracles and took me when she really didnt have time. Professional, compassionate and the atmosphere here is laid back but the stylists and staff were excellent. Im honestly impressed. Thank you Jessica!!!

Really dissatisfied with the haircut I recieved. Requested something simple and specific and the barber disagreed with me. Throughout the haircut she did not seem to know exactly what she was doing and I had to point out that a whole half of my head was unfinished and uneven. Also recieved the laziest beard trim I have ever paid for. Upon arriving home I needed to go back and trim several spots on my head and beard that were missed. This was my first experience here and I will not be going back, especially at that price.

If you want to look like you gave up on life, youve found your haircutting place. I asked for a shoulder length haircut that didnt accent my chin as I have a few extra pounds. I have two inches of hair left and so many layers I cant even put a headband in and look cute. Did they think bc Im overweight that I dont care at all how I look? They didnt give me a beer when I came in, wait was an hour. Im supposed to be job hunting and theres no way Ill get a good job looking like this. Its a poodle doo bob.

I came into Bishops at Sellwood today to get an AWFUL haircut fixed (by someone at Bishops at Gresham Station). I cannot rave enough about Kelly and how she took an awful experience and TOTALLY butchered haircut and turned into something cute and sassy. I hadnt wanted my hair super short but due to the awful cut I got from another girl Kelly had to take it shorter to repair it and turned it into a haircut I love. I didnt think it could be fixed but Kelly was a miracle worker!!!

I kept avoiding getting a haircut because I didnt know where would be a good place to go. A friend recommended Bishops to me and I am very glad he did because my experience with them was great. Very welcoming, friendly, chatty staff. Also the haircut was faster than I expected and at a good price as well. Ill be going back there again when my hair gets long.

Perfect. Came in here after having a good experience at the Hawthorne location. One of the best hair cutting experiences Ive ever had. I like things simple - describe in my very hair ignorant way what id like and have the hair person read my mind. Malerie did just that! Quick, concise, congenial and affordable. Will be back every month.

I just had the best Barbershop experience of my life! I got a horrible bowl haircut from another barbershop and went into Bishops to fix the mistake. I got Candy for my stylist and she worked a miracle! She was friendly, easy going and I love my haircut! Bishops has just made a new client!

Stoked to have found Bishops! Awesome atmosphere, great staff, and better prices than anywhere in Portland. Seriously. You can get a $50 dollar hair cut for $29 here. AND youll be satisfied when you leave! Ashley cut my hair, and she did awesome! Will be back again.

Ive had some shabby salon experiences. Admittedly.... One was a Bishops.... But then I found Roxy! She knows exactly what to do with my hair and I walk out happy and head held high every time!

at first I was apprehensive when she asked me if I wanted my hair cut w a straight razor, but Kaitlyn gave me a nice do. better than my 1st experience at this location.

Had a very enjoyable time! Easy conversation, great music, no wait late at night and in a great location if there is one. Big and open areas with lots to look at.
