Before my first group lesson I was terrified as a lot of people are, However, I made a promise to my wife that I would take lessons with her. So finally, after 2 years I found the courage to give it a shot. We live a few blocks away so that helped, but I would drive there if I had to. Rebecca, Lerey and Kristina made my experience as good as it could be. I have been going there for about three months and they keep getting better. They have not only taken the time to introduce me to dance, but to help me feel more comfortable and confident while on the dance floor. I have learned how to some partner dancing such as the West Coast Swing, Salsa, Rumba, and Cha Cha. I don’t know if there is a better dance instructor in Portland than Rebecca Bishop. The best part of going to Portland Dancesport is I was treated as a person and not just customer.

One of the best, most clear, most enjoyable lessons I have been to in months! Rachel is knowledgeable, energetic, warm and very helpful! We showed up the Saturday night social with a lesson in Country Two Step, something we had not tried before, and walked away feeling very comfortable dancing a whole song. She made the rhythm, feel and technique of the dance very accessible and showed us the ropes in just an hour! Rachel would be a great teacher for dancers at any level! Totally new or looking to refine technique, I cant recommend Dancing with Joy enough!!

I got a month unlimited pass here and have been taking all the classes I can the past several weeks. I have been so amazed by the caliber of each instructor, the breadth of dances the studios teaches, and the warmth and welcome of the owners. I highly recommend the studio as a place to develop skilled dance technique in a comfortable, fun space. Its very welcoming to beginners while giving all level dancers a lot to work on and develop. Theres always ample parking on the street just outside too.

Went here as Rachel who heads this place up also teaches at PSU. She makes the place very welcome and inviting so whatever apprehension you might have is wiped away. The huge variation in dance, from Zumba to Lindy Hop every day makes this in my opinion, the best overall place to learn dance. Refreshments are also provided at the events.

I spend three hours here each week dancing NIA with Andrea Bell. This space is filled with such a lovely, warm-hearted group of people. With so many choices on the schedule I often dip my toe into other classes but always come back to NIA. My favorite.

Just graduated to Intermediate Salsa - the teachers here are some of the friendliest people Ive ever met (and they do a great job of helping even nervous dancers).
