We were with this daycare starting around the time she first opened. We were first attracted to the daycare because she offered a structured environment for our children and it was minutes from our work. She used to teach them different lessons everyday and they would go outside often. In the last year and a half of our kids attending there, they would rarely go outside and were mostly just coloring around the house and not learning anything. She would constantly use up milk, wipes and diapers at a rate that was much faster than what we use at home(Clearly she used our childrens supplies for other kids). The kids were scared of her and the adults view her as unapproachable. She would usually tell us our 1 year old slapped, hit or pushed someone and asked that we handle it. (Yes, a one year old). She would tell us similar things about our older daughter having problems as well , although these things never happened. You know how I know ? For one they NEVER happened any where else. I have gotten not one complaint about both of my children at another daycare over the course of the last year. What happens I believe is her daughters are home more then there in school and when they are she stays upstairs and relaxes while her children watch the kids. I could go on and on about why to not have your child attend here like the fact that the children spend there days in an area smaller than your average garage, but that would take all day. What was really the last straw for me was Oregon DOR had asked for her to provide some additional tax information for us to receive a child tax credit and she REFUSED! After providing us with the some information, when The IRS asked for one more form, She said her lawyer advised her not to and that she had done her due diligence and will not be doing anymore or getting into or "Legal Affairs". If this woman had a teaching degree as she claimed, She would know how to do some research and see that Oregon is randomly placing allot of accounts in manual review to prevent fraud. Her accusing us of having legal problems, not living up to promises and being an angry, lazy and delusional woman are some of the reasons we left. Our kids have been so much brighter and happier ever since they left, We only wish we had sooner!

I cannot say enough amazing things about this daycare and the care that is provided. The prices are more than reasonable. Before finding this daycare, we had struggled to find someone that we could truly trust to leave our daughter with and know she is in good hands. In previous daycare, She would come home either crying and begging to not go back. I have no doubt that when I drop off my daughter that she is in excellent hands. There is a structured environment and I am so happy about that. It really helps prepare your child for a school environment. Barbara is so RELIABLE and DEPENDABLE. My child constantly talks about Barbara and all her friends at the daycare and is over the moon about them. I can attest to the fact that my daughter has been outside almost all summer having play time and she LOVES it. They do painting, coloring, plah doh, chalk, etc. She even offers Date nights on occasional Saturdays in the summer. My daughter has dramatically changed while in her care and has learned how to be respectful and have manners and she is held to a standard as I would expect any child to be. Barbara has even been successful in helping me to have my daughter sleep trained at home. She invest in the life and well being of your child and there are no words to how much that means as a parent. I would HIGHLY recommend her for your daycare. I would never dream of placing my children anywhere else. Her and her family are the kindest people Ive ever met. My daughter adores her and her children.

The owner is a nice lady, but also pretty strict and in some ways rigid. She prefers everything done to a precise schedule - drop off, pick up, meals, naps, etc. As most know, a sense of routine is reassuring for kids, but by the same token, if your child does not grasp her routine or just does not fit in within a timely manner, she wont hesitate to dispense with the kid. This includes issues such as separation anxiety, difficulty napping, and the like. When we first started with her, she had a mildly disabled child who always seemed to be crying and otherwise not fitting in well, and it wasnt long before that poor kid was gone. Given the overpriced and underserved child care market in Portland (particularly on west side) you can see how and why she can operate in such a way. Anyway, if you are a very organized, predictable, 9-to-5 family with few issues, laughter and love may well work quite well. If you however, have a less predicable schedule, and require more flexibility for your child care needs, and/or your wee one might be a bit more challenging than the perfect little angel that you thought he/she to be, you may want to keep a backup childcare option in mind, because laughter and love may well show you the door with a 2 week notice, for better or worse.

Laughter and Love Daycare is far out the best daycare ever! My child and I spent forever trying to find the perfect homey place to settle down in and this is it! The prices are very low for the amazing package you get. Mrs. Barbara is great when it comes to forms and her website. Everything is organized and understandable. My child used to come home in tears from the previous daycare we had him in and ever since then he has been a brighter and more cheerful little boy. Mrs. Barbara and her daughters are the kindest people you will ever meet and I cant tell you enough how grateful we are to have found her.

My child has had the most wonderful experience with Laughter and Love Daycare. She keeps the kids well pleased and everyday my child comes home telling me about all the wonderful times she has had with Mrs. Barbara and her daughters. She potty trains your child, preschools them and teaches them about moral values and manners. My child is not spoiled and has overall become the best she can be because of this wonderful daycare. I would HIGHLY recommend Mrs. Barbaras care to anyone.
