Having known the owners for the better part of a decade, its been a pleasure watching Balance Hair Spa grow organically into one of suburban Philadelphias most cutting edge and consistently satisfying salon and day spa destinations. Located in Exton, PA, Balance shines with a stunning array of modern chic fixtures as well as innovative spa technology, all housed in a spacious, relaxing environment. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making the Balance experience an excellent refresh for the mind, body and soul. Conveniently located near the intersection of Routes 100 and 113, Balance is perfectly positioned closely to all major roadways in the area, including Route 202 and the PA Turnpike. I have been getting my hair cut by Thomas Crisp for about 8 years now, and I will never go to anyone else! Over the years Thomas has helped me find the style that defines who I am today. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone in person or on screen that has matched my look, and am constantly getting compliments on my hair style. A person’s personal brand makes up a lot of who they are, and Balance’s business is honing in on exactly what that means to you, and making that look happen. The feeling you get when you walk in the door is that of VIP treatment. The feeling you get walking out the door is like a self-confidence boost on steroids- knowing that you are always looking your best and ready to tackle the world. Each member of the elite Balance team is professional and experienced in their own style. When you are there, you are family. The entire team is trained to work with each person as an individual, pinpointing the exact look, treatment and style that you want. They are dedicated to ensuring you look and feel great when you leave. Balance is extremely flexible with scheduling, making it easy for you to fit appointments into your busy agenda. Also, as of this February, Balance is now open 7 days a week! I have referred many of my friends and family to Balance over the years, and always get an outstanding report and thank you for the recommendation. The bottom line is that Balance offers top-level, quality work at extremely reasonable pricing. In addition, discounts and specials are offered regularly, for anything from cut and highlights to expert massages. You even get a card in the mail for your birthday, complete with gift-card towards your next appointment! I give Thomas and the entire Balance team my full endorsement and support, not only as a regular customer, but as part of the Balance family and also as a friend. If you want to look your best and feel great about yourself, then look no further. Balance has everything you could ever want in a salon and spa experience- and then some. In my opinion, everyone needs Balance in their life, literally and figuratively! - Corey Besack

I wonder how reliable and valid these reviews are. Four people, including myself, have gone to Balance and have had RUINED cut and/or color. I got my hair butchered and exactly the opposite of the style I desired by the OWNER of the salon named Thomas. A friend got reddish-black hair despite asking for blonde with red highlights when Thomas also colored her hair. Two family members went here and had uneven, shelf-like an dated haircuts done by a few other stylists (Im forgetting names, sorry). Over the past 1.5 years, this salon has also taken a HUGE turn for the worst in terms of who the two owners hire for front desk service and for shampooing and styling. When you enter Balance youre basically going into a biker lounge. I love unique dress but its a little overboard for the entire place to go on and on about how its a classy spa, yet it has about 15 workers with huge, obvious tats, ridiculous facial piercings and awful dye-jobs bright green/yellow/pink?! Please try to change the overall salon image then! Nobody would want a spa treatment of all things at a place like this, right?! It doesnt go with the overall theme. Nothing makes sense here... when I got the terrible haircut that basically ruined my life for 3+ months the owners NEVER CALLED BACK despite my insistence multiple times for the woman at the front desk for them to know how unsatisfied and devastated I was. Despite giving careful instructions and pictures for a pretty simple haircut the hairstylist was rude, incompetent and totally dismissed me. Unfortunately, I cant give other salon recommendations... since so many in this are are awful as well! I just am going to tell you, stay away. This place is BAD NEWS.

What I will say about this salon is it is quiet and the staff are respectful. My haircut however.... not so great. I went to the owner Thomas Crisp for a cut and color. I think Thomas is a great colorist and should stick to just doing color. His cutting and finishing skills are terrible. He cut my curly hair so short I went to a different salon for a straightening treatment. Upon getting my hair straightened at another salon, the stylist there told me the back of my hair was completely uneven. When I was able to get to look at it in the mirror it was very apparent that the cut was choppy and uneven. There was an entire chunk of hair in the middle that was way longer than the rest. (This was not typical layering it was completely choppy and sloppy). Also, getting my hair blow dried was another experience. I had to hold on to the arms of the chair for dear life. It always annoys me when I so carefully care for my curly (easily breakable hair) and watch some one rip through it with a hair brush. At the end my hair wasnt even nice looking. It was frizzy and not smooth. I paid over $100 for a decent color and crappy everything else. Stick to color Thomas. Sorry Buddy. In response to Care In: It wasnt just a "customized curly hair cut" or some layering. It was a huge chunk of hair that was way longer than the rest of my hair in the back... and very apparent (even to the untrained eye). A good hair cut should be able to be worn curly or straight. When im paying over a $100 for services and having a cut by the owner... I expect a and neat and clean job.

Ive been coming here for my hair for a while now. Siobhann is awesome! Its definitely on the pricier side but I think its worth it if you like the result. Im always willing to pay for quality. I used to get my hair done by Thomas, the owner, but switched to Siobhann after my wedding (she did my hair for the big day) and because her hours work better with my schedule. I would definitely recommend either for a great cut. I also recently went to Georgia for a facial. She was awesome and made lots of recommendations, which I needed since Ive been having break outs. Georgia also did my wedding make-up. I NEVER wear make-up, I literally dont own any. I told her I wanted it to be subtle and she listened. It was there but it was very classic and simple. I was in a wedding three weeks after my own and the salon that did my make-up made me look like a clown and I gave them the same instructions. The only thing Ive noticed is that the receptionists can be a little unwelcoming. Im not sure if that is the right word to describe it but I would say that it seems like I have to stand at the counter and wait for them to finish a conversation until they turn to me so I can check in and be greeted. I think it would help if they were more friendly when customers walk in the door. Not that its bad, it could just be better. That is literally my only complaint/suggestion. Give them a try, youll be happy with the end result!
