This review is worth reading because Im probably just like you: Im a contractor, not a mechanic, so although I consider myself to be handy with a toolbox I know little to nothing about fixing my car and truck. I was referred to Select Exhaust by a local dealership for a BIG exhaust problem that I was having with my work truck. Without my work truck I cannot make any money so it was imperative that the repair be done correctly and quickly. I explained this to the staff at Select when I had the truck towed in for repair. The staff worked tirelessly on the truck, staying in constant contact with me all day, and stayed well into the evening on a holiday weekend so that I could get back on the road and making money the next morning. They worked quickly, intelligently, and diligently to get me back on the job. They understand and share a strong work ethic like mine. When they were done, theyd fixed my problem but then they did a little more. They told me about several more issues that were GOING to be a problem with my truck but that werent yet critical. Its called a courtesy inspection to them but its become a kind of Bible to me. Ive heard this schtick before - load me up with a bunch of requests for work that I might never need. "Yeah, yeah, yeah" I thought. I also thought "what does an exhaust shop know about brakes, suspension, etc?" Surely enough, a week later, the first of the items on the courtesy inspection started making that noise I didnt recognize and I (instead of trusting them) took it to the dealership instead. I PAID for an inspection of the vehicle and the dealership gave me a list of problematic things on my truck that was IDENTICAL to the courtesy check done by Select Exhaust. Ive never doubted them again and never will. Heres all the basics you need to know about Select Exhaust: 1.) They do not lie to you to make a buck and have never charged me more than the estimate. 2.) They will not fix something that isnt broken. 3.) They will treat you with respect and make great efforts to understand your circumstances. 4.) They genuinely care if you are satisfied with the work they do. 5.) They absolutely know what theyre doing with a toolbox and their skills go SO FAR BEYOND exhaust work. I am not a rich guy and I dont have a lot of time to shop around for a shop to keep my work truck running and making me money. I chose Select Exhaust the first time because they were willing to work on my truck quickly. I chose them the second time because they were nothing but honest and hardworking the first time - and I probably dont have to tell you how rare that is in the automotive repair industry. Select will be doing my fluid changes, state inspections, and ALL repair work for as long as they want. Choose someone else at your own risk. I am an honest, hardworking man and will choose Select Exhaust because I refuse to be deceived and overcharged by a mechanic again.

I chose them due to the good reviews that they had, and because I needed a fast service. They provided next day service, while the Honda Dealer was able to give us an appointment in 2 days. However, they called us to pick up the car when it was already dark outside, and as we went in, we were told that the battery needs to be changed also. Now, as I look back, I can see how they use "distraction" as a mean of diverting our attention from the real problem. We refused to have the battery changed, and Im glad we did because the car runs just fine and does not show any signs of low battery when starting the engine. With the discussion focused on "the battery," we ended up leaving their facility without even trying to see if the sliding door that they fixed works or not. Also, as I mentioned before it was dark outside and the car was not parked in an illuminated area, so we also didnt see all the dents and scratches they made on the car around the door they were working on. Today, my husband returned to them with the car, and initially he was told that the dents were there when he brought the car in yesterday and everything is written on the courtesy inspection list they gave us when we picked up the car. After confronted with the facts that theres no mention about any dents on the above mentioned paper, as something nonexistent cannot be mentioned on a check list, they switched the story. Now they are saying that maybe we made the dents after we left their facility last night. Obviously, Im glad that the automatic door works now, yet if I knew ahead of time that they would make other damages to my car, I would have waited two extra days until the Honda dealer had an opening appointment. For people who consider doing business with them, I have an advice: make sure you thoroughly inspect your car before leaving their facility, and dont fall for any mischievous ways they use while trying to divert your attention. As I said before, they told me that if I turn the engine off, I wont be able to turn it back on and offered to change my battery for $130. The engine was off overnight, and did not display any "signs of struggle" when I turned it on today.

I cant say enough good things about this family business! I recently moved to the area and had two vehicles to get inspected for PA. Having just moved, I was very short on money when I took the car to Select. I ended up needing four new tires and an alignment --money I really didnt have. First off, Bill, the owner, contacted different dealers to find the best deal on four tires for me, but then also set up a payment plan to make paying it off more manageable. You dont see that kind of service anymore. In addition to the work they charged me for, they also lightly detailed and cleaned the vehicle for free. PLUS, (and this is something I didnt even ask them for), they fixed a gap in my driver side door created from a locksmith who opened my vehicle a few months back. Not only was the service of the vehicle exceptional, but they are extremely transparent with what they do. Bill takes pictures of damages so you can see why they fix something, they do a thorough scan over the vehicle and then try and inform you what other repairs or maintenance may be necessary. I know other mechanics do this to, but unlike other places, I did not feel pressured to fix those issues AT ALL. It was done merely to make me aware of potential issues. My other vehicle didnt pass inspection and had a laundry list of problems that would need to be serviced to get it up to snuff. When it was clear I didnt want to put any more money into it, Bill offered a couple of reliable vehicles he had around the shop at a very reasonable rate. It was clear he was just trying to help me out. My only complaint would be the prices on some services are a little higher than I would like to see, but Select is trying to do QUALITY work and that doesnt always come cheap. I think its worth the extra money to feel assured that Im not being bamboozled by some operation whose got their own interest in mind. Throughout the entire process, I felt that my best interest was their goal. Thats the kind of operation I want to do business with. I would refer this business to any of my friends or family!
