Went here on January 26th to get a basic wash, cut, and style. Walked out pretty happy with it. I washed it on the 28th. As soon as it dried (air dried) it was obvious that my bangs were burnt. They were dry, curly, and VERY coarse totally different from the rest of my hair. I called them on Monday the 30th (since they are closed on Sunday) The receptionist was amazing and understanding and scheduled me with the same stylist (Cheryl) to have it fixed. A few hours later I got a voice mail from Cheryl telling me that it was impossible that she burnt my hair, because it could only be burnt by "straightening your hair 2-3 times a day every day for a month" ! I was obviously seeing red. Here I am with burnt hair, and a stylist that was saying that there is no way she caused it, when the ONLY thing I did was WASH IT. Went in with perfectly healthy hair, came out with burnt hair. So I called them again. The receptionist scheduled me with another stylist (Cassandra). I went in there and she fixed it, but not before blaming my well water for the damage. Ive had well water for 2 years, and when I sat down in Cheryls chair the first time I had perfectly healthy hair she even said I had "no split ends at all" So NOW all of a sudden I have damage?! I dont think so. Thing is that when I noticed the damage, I wasnt that upset. It was only a little spot, and I knew it would be an easy fix. What made me upset is the fact that nobody wanted to fix it. Or take responsibility. The only person that even admitted that it might possibly be Cheryls mistake was the RECEPTIONIST!!! I dont like being called a liar. Or stupid. Or misinformed. I dont like being made to feel bad because someone else made a mistake and I wanted someone to fix it. I went in there with healthy hair. I expected to leave there the same. While Cassandra did a great job fixing it, and even gave me some free product to get it healthier (since she couldnt cut out all of the damage) I am not sure that I will be going back. I just feel like I was treated poorly. Especially for the cost of a haircut there. If I end up going back at my next schedule appointment and my experience changes I will change my review here.

My husband and I were here on Saturday, 14-Jan-2012 for couples massage and I have to say, I wasnt impressed. I consider myself a massage connoisseur, as I receive a massage at least once per month at my "regular" establishment back home in the Lehigh Valley. Anyway, my husband and I went away to a B&B in Stroudsburg for the night, to escape daily life, and this was our last stop before heading home. My massage therapist was much older, and very frail. Nothing against the older (late 50s, early 60s) generation, but massage therapy does require a youthful vibrancy and strength, that this woman simply didnt have. Basically, all she did was rub oil into my body for an hour. No massage, just a rub down. On top of it, the room was freezing, and for a reason I do not understand (since there were plenty of vacant massage rooms in the downstairs portion of this facility), they administered our massage upstairs, right next to the salon. It was VERY noisy....and very disturbing. I couldnt relax because the noise was just too loud. After the massage, I found out that my husband received several treatments that I did not (he had a different therapist). Now, to be fair, my husband really enjoyed his massage (younger therapist), but, it was also his first massage ever...so I will be curious to take him to my "regular" place back home, and find out how he would compare the two experiences. We will be going there next month, so to be fair, I will update this review then. All in all, I will never, ever go back, and would suggest people steer clear as well.

I recently had 16 inches cut off from my hair and wanted a bob hair cut from a salon in Scranton. I was completely unsatisfied. I went to Shear designs in attempts to have it "fixed". Cassandra was my stylist and she was fantastic. I showed her a few pictures and she did above and beyond what I expected. I love love love my new cut and will be going back to see her when Im in need of a trim!!

Ive spent a lot of time in Northeastern PA before moving to Napa/Sonoma and now a small city in the west. Ive not found one salon/spa that can offers the range of services I enjoyed at Shear Design, nor one that offers the expertise and aesthetic comforts. I so miss Shear Design, the next time Im in New York I may excommute to Stroudsburg for my wax, facial, pedic cut and color!

I went in for my first Brazilian wax, and I was extremely nervous, but Hannah was absolutely wonderful! It was like having it done by a friend, we just talked through the whole thing and I never noticed the pain. Ive already recommended her to several family members, and will continue to do so! Dont let her age fool you, shes definitely a pro, you wont be disappointed!

Over the years I have visited Salon & Spas worldwide and in some of the most upscale luxurious locations. Visiting Shear Design is on par with the best of them. The atmosphere is professional but warm. The stylists are wonderful. The massage therapist I use is tops. Literally, I couldnt live without this slice of heaven. Thank you Shear Design!

Girls at desk handle customer service relations very poorly. (I.e snotty and condescending) I just read a review that said "most negative comments are.from those who rarely visit a salon" Do you know everyone who commented? You sound like the manager. In your opinion how many times do you have to go to a salon to recognize poor service?

We went here to get my daughters hair done for her prom. She wanted it curled with some up and some down, the woman rushed her through, tried to change her mind on the hairstyle and within 5 minutes of leaving the salon her curl came completely out in the front. I was furious as we paid $70 for it. Definitely not worth the $$.

I was really nervous about getting a brazilian wax. (I took a few years off and knew it was going to be painful) The women who did it was really sweet. She did a great job too, every spot she did she only had to do ONCE which is nice considering. The last spa I went to the women always seemed to miss a few.

I had struggled with getting lousy haircuts for years until a good friend referred me to Bria at Shear Design. I have been getting wonderful service from her ever since. Trendy, appropriate cuts for my hair type with always cheerful, unrushed service. I highly recommend Shear Design and especially Bria.

Lap of luxury I go here every week and have my hair done my Hannah. Color cut or just a wash and blow out my hair is constantly fantastic. The compliments I get! Ive had some of the spa services there and have constantly been pleased. Thanks Hannah for always making look and feel like a million
