I wanted to get about 2-3 inches of damaged ends removed, so I stopped by to make an appointment. The owner told me that someone could take me right then, even though my hair wasnt stretched at all and very curly at the time. Taking this to mean they could cut dry, natural hair accurately, I sat down for my trim. That is not AT ALL what she meant. The stylist cut about 3 inches worth of curly hair, which with my curl pattern is about 5-6 inches of length. This also took almost two hours, even though I told the owner at the onset that I had to be somewhere at a specific time, but she assured me that the it was more than enough time for what I wanted done. I left the salon after the time I was supposed to be at my obligation. After all was said and done, and I left the salon with more than TWICE the amount of hair gone that I wanted, I washed my hair that evening to find that the cut wasnt even!! I called the salon the next day to inform the owner that my cut wasnt even. She did not apologize or invite me to return to have it fixed. After I told her how angry I was that the stylist cut twice as much hair as I asked, she tried to tell me that it wasnt as much hair as I said. I take care of my own hair, with the exception of trimming, so I know how long my hair is. She still insisted that only the 2-3 inches I asked for was cut. Obviously, neither the owner nor the stylist know how to cut coily natural hair when its dry, because otherwise they would know that type of hair has considerable shrinkage. What looks like 3 inches of hair when curled is at least 5 inches, if not more, when stretched. I will never set foot in Alternative Salon, Inc again and with the way they dealt with my free natural hair, I would absolutely not recommend anyone with free natural hair to visit either.

I am a New Yorker at heart. I have been our here in the east Stroudsburg / Stroudsburg area for a few years but still would travel to NYC for my hair needs. Finding a place that you can trust is hard especially with my type of hair. This is how I found Alternative Salon. I felt as if I was back in NYC. The staff and the owner were lovely , down to earth respectable women. I will and have recommended them to my friends.

I moved to the Pocono area not realizing that the harsh water would damage my hair. I found Alternatives by chance and it has been a Godsend!! Although, I initially wasnt ready for the natural transition look, I was convinced that the condition of my hair was getting worse if I didnt. Alternatives gives you options for natural and relaxed hair with the goal of HEALTHY hair which is the road I am currently taking.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Alternatives. The owner Tesha was very pleasent and she knows her stuff. Im new to the area and was very skeptical about gettting my hair done but Tesha really made me feel comfortable. Since then I have been back twice and yes ladies Im getting nothing but compliments. LOVING IT Thanks Tesha and I would recommend this salon to anyone.

Yes I am estatic! I am 30 minutes away from the best loctician in the Poconos. Tesha cares about the health of your hair and she is flexible patient and hardworking. Very patient.
