Good service, but refused to honor quote. This garage came recommended by a neighbor. We have used them twice and were pleased by the service. More recently, I called to get a quote to install a hitch on our car, which I would purchase online. They offered to quote me a price on the sale of the hitch as well. Their quote to install the hitch was reasonable, but the quote for the part was about 40% higher than what I found online. Understanding that they may rely on the parts markup when quoting the labor, I specifically asked what the install cost would be if I purchased the hitch elsewhere, and was told that the installation price would be the same. When I called back a few days later to schedule an appointment, I was informed that I would be charged a full hour of labor to install the hitch, or roughly double the quoted price. I explained that I had previously been quoted a lower price, even if the parts were purchased elsewhere, and was treated to a lecture about how they need to mark up the parts, etc. I was told that the person who said the installation price would be the same was "wrong", but no apology was offered. I explained that their refusal to honor their own quote jeopardized my trust in them, but they did not seem to care, and were willing to let a customer go rather than eat a $40 mistake made by their own mechanic. We were also taking our car in for an oil change and to replace the wiper blades (both of which I can do myself), in part to establish a relationship with a trusted garage. If they had quoted the full hour of labor up front (on customer-provided parts), I probably would have had them to the work, but I would rather give my business to another local garage, on principle. I would advise you to make sure the price youre quoted is the real price, but Im not sure how you would go about doing that, since it seems subject to change. As long as you can get agreement about charges up front, you will likely be satisfied with the service here.
