This company is horrible beyond words. We agreed to the service plan which cost $444 for two years. Our furnace was not working. They scheduled somebody to come out. He knocked and then left before I could even get to my door. I grabbed my shoes to go out to the truck that I could see on the street and then saw it driving away. What kind of company knocks and then immediately leaves!!!! So I called the company and said your truck is driving away down my street. I am home!!!!!! Please send him back!! They said he would come back. He had still not come by noon (5 hours later). I called again. They said he would be there that day sometime. I had a dentist appointment so my boyfriend took the afternoon off of work to come home and wait for this guy. Shipley NEVER SHOWED UP and never called to explain or apologize. This was on a Friday. We went an entire freezing weekend without heat. Monday, we called a different company that came out and replaced a $10 part. I called Shipley and said that they no-showed on us and their service policy was worthless so we didnt want it and that another company came out and fixed out furnace since Shipley failed us. Two months later, I am continuing to receive bills from them and calls asking for payment for their worthless service plan. This company is very, very dishonest. You should never use this company. Whenever you call this company, you can never speak to the people in the correct department. You are only allowed to speak with customer service people who act as middle people and always claim that they are not responsible because all they know is what is on their computer screen. It is absolutely ridiculous. I have been going back and forth with them for three months. I have been promised three times by three different people that they will remove this bill and it has still not been removed. Update: The bill was finally removed. We now refuse any service plans with any company. We do our heating oil on will call (when we need it or order it now when they choose to fill it). I think in the long run this is the cheaper way to go because I have heard that the companies scam you when they do automatic fill. For example, they claim to fill more than they did or they come and fill when the prices are highest even though they might have bought when the prices were cheaper. I dont think those service plans are a very good deal either for anyone but the company in most cases.

I called several weeks ago and made an appointment for today to have my AC serviced and my propane tank to be swapped out by Shipley Energy. They have been my service provider for over 20 years. I needed to be at my home while the service was being done so I scheduled a vacation day. Today was the last straw. At 8:00 am the techs for the AC called and said they were on their way. I thought great! But then they asked ME what was wrong with my gas tank. I was a bit baffled so I called the office and was assured that they would get to the bottom of this and both services would be completed today. AC service was completed at 9:30. No call back from office but AC techs said the tank needs to be changed out because it is 20 years old and had talked to the dispatcher. I called back to the office and was assured that this was in process. At 2:00 this afternoon, no update, no service tech. I call again and she said she would find out and call me back. 3:30 came the call back saying that they could do the service NEXT TUESDAY. And to top it off, the representative said she sees that I had spoke to HER manager and HE made the appointments but did not enter it correctly so the service for the propane tank was never scheduled. Now I must take another day off from work. I expressed my disappointment and she offered to take $10 off each of my next 5 propane deliveries. Wow...I only use propane for my gas stove! That would probably take 5 years to get that. I am so disappointed as every time I need my furnace or AC maintenance done it is a huge deal to get an appointment but meanwhile I pay monthly for the maintenance agreement and pay my monthly budget amount on time. This year I ended up overpaying $1800 and they wanted to raise my budget amount! I have to call and go over all this just so I can get it lowered and ask them to refund my money or they would just roll it over. Crazy!

I thought they were a good company. I was on auto pay each month, they called me around Christmas and said they needed to up my monthly fee because I was using more oil than estimated. I told them I couldnt do that, I just didnt have that kind of money at the time. Just recently I decided to take myself off of auto pay because no matter how cheap the price of oil is, my auto payment never decreased. Upon calling I spoke with someone and had the monthly payments stopped as well as the auto deliveries. I was informed at that time that I had over $700 as a credit to my account because I had been paying more than I was actually being charged. I asked to have the money refunded back to me and they said okay, and the woman took down my bank account number to have it refunded to my account. 3 days later I still didnt have the money in my account, so I called again. I was informed that my auto payments were not stopped and that there was no information about a credit refund. So again this person took my information and said that they would refund me and stop the auto payments. 2 more days went by and no refund, I called again. This time I was informed by another rep. that it would come as a check and the check was written that week on Friday, so I would receive quite possibly that day (Monday) because it was mailed. Another 3 days goes by, still no refund check. I called again and this person says that the check was written that Friday and would be sent the next Friday. It has now been over 3 weeks and still no refund! I am beyond livid at this point, there is no reason a company should be able to take my money the same day if needed but take over 3 weeks to refund my money back AND not one person has the same story when I call?! I will be using another oil company this winter, because I do not feel like they are being honest with me.

Ive never given much thought to the performance of a utility company but I have to say that my experience was Shipley has been incredible. From talking with Kate in customer service and starting the process to working with Matt my project manager it was great from the beginning but what really put it over the top was working with Robert and Mike in the field those guys are incredible, great attitude hard-working and theyve done a great job. Were not completely finished yet but up to this point this has been just a great experience. Any question I have or any communication I call Kate, if she cant take my call in the moment I get a phone call back within a few minutes and what a pleasant person to talk to. She does what she says shes going to do and she does it when she says shes going to do it..... and that seems to be a rare commodity in this day so to the folks at Shipley great job you have a very happy customer.
