This place was absolutely terrible. I hated it. They should get a sign that says, "No babies. We dont like them." My husband made an appointment for the both of us here. He told them we were both coming in for services and that we had our baby with us. They said it would be okay. They started to do my hair for 15 minutes before telling me that my husband and my baby couldnt be with me, but they could be in the waiting area, so they left. If I had known that I couldnt have my family with me, we would not have made an appointment at all. After the first process was applied to my hair and I could just wait for it to set, my husband came in so that we could switch places and he could get his hair cut. He handed my daughter off to me and as I was on my way out, they told me again that my daughter could not be in the studio. They felt I didnt understand the first time how dangerous it was for us to be holding our child and be in their salon at the same time. Silly us for not asking her to wait outside! After he was nearly done, I came back into the waiting area so that we could switch places again. I had foil and lightener in my hair. They made me leave the building entirely because my small child began to cry. Instead of caring for my needs and making me feel comfortable as a guest, they wanted me to leave for fear that I would ruin their "spa atmosphere" because I had my child with me. Their spa atmosphere is their responsibility, not mine. Our child is our responsibility, which is why we brought our baby with us. Thats why spas soundproof, so that they dont have to ask their salon customers to leave for not keeping it down well enough for them. I wanted to leave after this. I was uncomfortable and wanted to pay for the services I had up to this point and just go home and wash my hair out. I dont even care if it had all fallen out because it would not have been nearly as uncomfortable as going back into that pretentious baby-hating garbage hole. They pressured me into going back in and letting them wash my hair out, refusing to take payment for what they had done already, and insisting they needed to do more. Instead of offering us any kind of apology, they felt that I just didnt understand what they were telling me because we were so stupid for going places with our small child. I was crying. I just wanted to go! I was extremely uncomfortable and distraught. So, they plied me with alcohol because I cried. I drank everything they were willing to give me! I was so upset. Of course, I got wasted! They then coerced me into allowing them to continue dyeing my hair, to render services that I no longer wanted so that they could use more product and charge me full price for more services. I dont remember anything I said, but after they completed all the dyeing they could do, they asked me to leave for cussing and ruining their atmosphere again. Maybe I did! I dont even know. They took total advantage of me. They ruined my hair anyway, even though the product ended up being in my hair for only the length of time that it was intended to be, according to the stylist. I paid full price for services I didnt want because they made me feel like I was obligated to let them render them and that I was going to have to pay for it all anyway, whether I left midway through or not. They convinced me that staying was better off for my hair. Seeing that it is falling out anyway, Im not sure this is true!

I love this Salon and you will too. I will say the stylist you choose will make a HUGE difference. Keeping that in mind, you want to make sure your stylist treats your hair like its their own hair and actually listens to what you want but advises you of how that will work with your hair color, texture, features, and life. I began going to Christina in 2010, she now owns the salon. Even if you use another stylist at Ziba know that they must meet Christinas standards so youre in fabulous hands no matter who does your hair at Ziba. Ive gone elsewhere when out of town and regretted it horribly. Let me tell you what youll find at Ziba. Friendly and courteous staff, upbeat music, lovely new decor, professional product lines and a clean environment. Here is the added bonus..........its got a downtown touch WITHOUT downtown prices and the downtown parking drama. P.S. My last visit was capped off with a spray tan. I looked so great my husband said we were going out to dinner because he had to be seen with me.

After moving back to Charleston I went through a handful of stylists. I tried salons Downtown, Mt. Pleasant, and West Ashley ---- then I FINALLY found Kelli Smith at Ziba Salon on Maybank Hwy!!! Kelli is AMAZING!!!! Usually before my hair appts I’m a complete bundle of nerves…by the time I’m done with my appt and I’m leaving the salon I have sweated through my clothes (no joke!). NOW I look forward to my hair appts -- it’s a relaxing experience where I actually feel like I’m catching up with one of my besties while she styles my hair :) For the 1st time EVER family and friends actually notice and comment on my hair (FINALLY!!!!!). I always walk away from my appts with confidence, a BIG smile, and happy heart, and FABULOUS hair!!! Kelli is an extremely gifted stylist with a bomb shell personality who listens and delivers what her clients are looking for. THIS chick rates 5 STARS – you will not be disappointed, I encourage you to call and book an appt with her NOW!!!!

Ive been bouncing around Charleston since I moved here six years ago looking for a stylist, and Im so happy I found Sarah! She listened to the concerns I had about the current state of my color, and provided excellent advice and technique to achieve the most natural looking blonde/bronde hue. Its so natural looking that I know the color is still going to look amazing as my hair grows between appointments. Sarah definitely worked wonders with my ultra-fine, (over)processed strands, and gave me the best looking cut Ive had in ages. Ive had so many compliments on my new do since she worked her magic; I could not be more pleased. As an added bonus, everyone I spoke with at Canary Rock - from scheduling and confirming, to arrival and departure - was kind, friendly, and welcoming. It was the complete opposite from every experience Ive had at many downtown salons. I absolutely love Sarah and Canary Rock! Ive already scheduled my next appointment.

I first went to Ziba Salon last October and was thoroughly impressed by the salon and the stylists. The salon was neat and beautifully decorated and all the staff were friendly and professional. My current hair stylist, Kelli Smith, is amazing! Every time she has styled my hair shes done an amazing job for such an awesome price. Ive never really felt comfortable carrying on conversations with my stylists, but Kelli changed that. She made/makes me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I love my hair and will continue to go to Kelli! In short, Ziba Salon is an amazing, professional, and relaxing place to go. Kelli Smith is an awesome stylist, as well as the other stylists! I would recommend Ziba to anyone looking for an awesome place to get their hair done!
