I have a story to tell you, about why would should go to Halls. Please take the time to read it., So, Ill start from the begining. My boyfriend and I went to the post office. When we tried to leave , his truck wouldnt crank. He called 2 different repair shops, Hall, and Defalcos. Since Defalcos, was closer, and we had to get towed, he decieded to go to Defalcos. BIG MISTAKE. The tow truck driver that came and got us was very nice, and gave us a ride to the shop. When my boyfriend first called Defalcos, he had asked if we got towed to them, would they give us a ride home, we had groceries in the truck. The guy on the phone told us he could arrange for us to get home. Well, we arrived at the shop, and we went inside. My boyfriend was discussing the repairs with the guy behind the counter. ( this is the same guy he talked to on the phone.) After repairs were discussed, my boyfriend asked him who was going to take us home. The guy behind the counter then said that my boyfriend never asked him on the phone for a ride home, but he would try to get us one. Well he basicaly called my boyfriend a liar. My boyfriend didnt appreciate it and told the guy behind the counter that if he was going to call him a liar, and lie to him, why would he trust him under the hood of his truck, what else would he lie about? My boyfriend then calls Agent towing. The guy behind the counter starts screaming at my boyfriend, telling him that Agent towing wasnt coming on his f*n property. My boyfriend told him he would get who he wanted to tow his truck. Agent towing was even willing to pay Defalcos the $25.00 they charged us to be towed there. After that the guy behind the counter (still screaming, and there is another customer in the lobby with us) threatened to call the law if Agent came on his property, and threating my boyfriend, waving his hands around in the air, that if he called Agent , he would PUSH my boyfriends truck into the middle of THE HIGHWAY. (6th Ave. South). At that time my boyfriend did get irritated ( this guy is threating to do damage to his property, and threating to kill people with a truck!) I even asked the guy to please not say things like that because kids do ride in cars, and how would he feel if a 5 year old hit a truck in the middle of the hwy!??! . He just looked at me like he thought it might be funny.... To skip all the little details...my boyfriend had to call Horry county, to negotiate the situation. In the end, after the cops talked to the hot headed guy behind the counter, he got out truck towed, by Defalcos, to Halls Auto Repair. ( Thank God!!) The guy behind the counter at Halls said that he heard the commotion on the phone , between my boyfriend and the guy at Defalcos, and couldnt believe that the guy was screaming at my boyfriend. The guy at Halls said that he remembered talking to my boyfriend on the phone about needing a ride home. He called the owner of Halls, and the owner gave us a ride home, and was a very nice guy about the whole ordeal, even stopping at the store, so we could pick up a few things before we went home. I guess all I can really say (politlely) about Defalcos is, if you might change your mind about getting work done there, or you go to question the guy behind the counter, BEWARE, and have Surfside polices number on speed dial, and please watch your vehicle....it might end up in the highway,... and it wont be on a tow truck. The people at Halls Automotive are very nice, dont mind discussing repair cost, dont mind helping you get home, and they are right down the street from Defalcos. And by the way, we have talked to alot of people in our community, and they all said they have heard our story before,(apparently we werent the only people that have gotten threatened by the to push our vehicle in the middle of a road) and that the people at Defalcos have had a reputation for being very nasty to customers.For the people who say Defalcos is reasonably priced, Halls is cheaper, honest, and do great work.

I would have given them zero stars but thats not an option. Took my car there on a Sunday afteernoon due to over heating. The vents on my dash were working and in perfect condition. When I picked up the car Monday afternoon after a thermostat replacement, got in the car and saw that the air vents on dash had been damaged. And by damaged I mean the inner parts of the vent that move air flow in one direction or another had been taking or broken out. You could see all the way down into the venting system. The vent for the passenger had been tampered with as well. All the pieces had been pushed out of place and you cant move it as well. So I pulled right in and asked a worker to come look (Travis who did not say he was a manager but later I was told he was). He said he must be the plastic parts are old and the heat damaged them. Right but where are the pieces to the heat damaged vent if no one tampered with it, I asked???? He said he would have to talk to a tech about it and call me back. He said he was pretty sure it was just old and broke even though it was in perfect working condition alittle over 24 hours ago. I received no call. So I called the next day just to be told it was magical wizards that must have done the damage because none of their guys said they did it. Now there is an original story a mechanic couldnt lie about messing with the air vents its more plausible that and I quote "magical wizard did it". Then I was told to call back Friday to speak with the manager Travis. Funny that I already spoke with Travis and he failed to call me back. PS what kind of manger only works Monday and Friday. With the heat at over 100 most days the only thing that saves you is your air conditioning and now mine just blows into the vast hot mini van!!!!! The thing I hate the most is when men talk to women like they are stupid little girls!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiling and giggling like the dont care to listen to you or anything you have to say. Its as though they are laughing at how they got one over on you and you cant do anything about it because youre a girl haha!!!! The saddest thing is with a female owning the shop you would think she wouldnt have men talking and treating women like this. Like they are stupid and imagining things all the while they are laughing and telling you magical wizards must have done the damage. So sad women still get treated this way!!!!!!

The mountains trashed my front brakes (rotors and pads) which were probably not great to begin with but I failed to check them. I was 900 miles from home and my first thought was, "man I am screwed. Im from out of town and somebody is really going to profit off my hardship." I called the first place on google, saw the reviews and spoke with Bryan at Halls. I explained I had to replace the rotors and pads, I had already purchased the parts to replace them. He said, "no problem," He quoted me his hourly rate (super reasonable) and said just bring the parts and my vehicle by when I could. That Monday I drove it to Halls (about 1 mile from where I was staying) Bryan informed me he was swamped by all the customers having left vehicles over the weekend to be repaired (I had squeezed into a spot in the back as his lot was packed), the soonest they could get to it was later that afternoon or the following morning. I said that was fine, 2 hours later he calls me and informs me they were finished with the repairs and I could pick it up anytime. **2 HOURS LATER! **AWESOME! I wasnt expecting that kind of service. I got the vehicle back, drove it around and it drives and brakes perfectly! I gladly paid that invoice with a smile on my face. I highly recommend that you take your vehicle whether you are from out of town or a in town person to Halls Auto Repair. Bryan also informed me they are part of a national network that guarantees lifetime parts, so it doesnt matter in where you live in the U.S, Thanks Bryan and all the guys at Halls Auto Repair for treating me with respect as a customer, by not overcharging and taking advantage of my situation. You want it fixed? Take it to Halls Auto Repair, I would drive 900 miles again to make sure I get the job done right at Halls! Five Stars isnt enough!
