MILITARY BEWARE!!!! This place REQURES you give them your account number or card AND requires a 30 day notice before cancellation. As you may or may not know when you ETS or change stations you dont always have an exact date of when you leave. The owner will tell you its ok and that all you need is to provide orders that you are leaving for you to cancel your contract...but DOT NOT believe him!!! I started my contract in Oct 13 and told him THAT DAY I would ETS on 11 Dec 13 but did not have orders yet . "Oh no problem just get me your orders whenever and well cancel the contract." I got orders on 9 Dec 13 and contacted him. He didnt remember even though I had mentioned it a dozen times. He put me in contact with his accountant whom I have email history to document it all. His accountant told me I couldnt cancel and would have to pay. I mentioned that the owner had already oked it because of ETS. Accountant got back with me acknowledging this and asked for orders to cancel contract. I sent and verified I wouldnt be charged anymore to which he assured me via email that "yes, that is correct". 4 months later I notice that $90 has been coming out of my account since Dec 13. I call bank and have them cancel transactions. I call SSF to let them know his accountant is not doing his job and assume its a misunderstanding. Its not. My bank lets me know he is fighting them and provided the contract. All I have to do now is give them the emails between his accountant and I and he loses. I HOPE YOURE READING THIS..NO $$$ for YOU! Lesson learned....CYOA...use email and get everything in writing. As for the instruction there: I think some of the guys are great...some are not so great...but its good for a beginner maybe to see if you want to continue and for someone advanced to step it up. Update: I have gotten my money back but not without a fight. Also, there seems to be tons of positive stuff on here all of a sudden when before it was myself and all the negative comments. hmmm. Anyway, like I said, there is good instruction there, just make sure you get ALL agreements in email just in case.

My son joined SSF last summer to prepare for his first high school wrestling season. Me being the over protective mother, I was a bit apprehensive about my teenage son training with pros. I spent time while he trained at the gym and realized fast that I had made the right decision. My son received his Varsity Wrestling letter his Freshman year of high school. On top of that he gained confidence and a place where he can continue to thrive and learn as a fighter and a person. When life threw a curve ball at me financially last year, Ron Daley was understanding and worked with me. He didnt recite contract rules, regulations, or threaten me and my sons future at SSF. He also allowed my son to continue training. Unfortunately, another financial curve ball has come my way again, no thanks to our VA system. I told Ron our situation and he was beyond empathetic, professional, and most of all compassionate. He understands that "life" happens and he, AGAIN, is working with us. AND he said my son can still train because he knows and understands how important the training is to my son and how it will help him achieve his goals. On a business level, SSF surpasses professionalism. On a personal level Ron Daley and his professional fighters/trainers have exceeded all our expectations in training and the type relationship formed with my son and me. I thought that was the icing on the cake, but it is not. Ron has gone a step further and offered my husband, who is a disabled Veteran/Firefighter, the opportunity to come and train to what ever limits are possible for him for FREE! SSF has been a blessing to us in more ways than words can express. I recommend them to anyone who is serious about training in MMA. Thank you again Ron and the entire SSF team!

SSF Submission Academy is an outstanding gym. These people know what theyre doing. Competitive rates, world-class professionalism and a proven track record with their fighters. You are treated like an equal in the presence of veterans who have fought and are fighting in major promotions all over the world. They also have a free program for military veterans with PTSD. I especially like the choice of mats, theyre very easy on beat-up joints like mine.

When I had called to inquire about some Muay Thai classes, the guy I spoke with had told me about their pole dancing classes. I told the guy, I am not interested that I want to get back into training Muay Thai. He was not surly, but he hesitated in his response to my statement reaffirming that I want to train in Muay Thai and not pole dancing.

While the facility itself is decent enough, the service from the office/sales is deplorable. Even though we had numerous verbal agreements, the staff - whom we could never get ahold of - would only cite the contract in our dispute with their billing. Beware of the auto billing and do not trust anything they say. Customer service is AWFUL.

I have been training there for several years and love it. I have cross-trained at several other gyms as well but SSF is still where I call home. There is an amazing talent pool to learn from as well as instructors and managers.
