I have been in Nashville for 4 years and because I have super thick hair, and a short cut, I have had a hard time finding a stylist. I have been seeing someone for the past 2 years and she was ok, but too unprofessional (always late) so I decided to switch it up. A friend goes to Fine Arts and she recommended it. After today, she and I are going to have to have a chat. My appt was for 9:30am. I arrived a 9:24am and the shop was closed. At 9:43, Valerie showed up and let me and another client in. She sat us both immediately, but somehow, my relaxer wasnt fully in my head until 10:26am. Then, i got passed off to a shampoo girl who had NO CLUE what she was doing. It took her 30 minutes to rinse/wash my hair, 15 mins to find a bottle of sculpting mousse, and 10 mins to apply mousse, comb, and wrap my hair. I got under the dryer at 11:25am and came out at 12:15, only to have wet hair that had to be blowdried (i told the girl that she needed to break the hair up for the heat to dry it). Meanwhile, Valerie had been braiding another clients hair who was getting a lace front, but once the shampoo girl told her I was in a rush and needed to leave by 1, she handed the other client to other "trainees" while she flat ironed my hair. While i sat there, it became clear that Fine Arts is some sort of school/training facility and Valerie is the only person who can actually do hair. Everyone else waited for her instructions and did only what she asked of them (probably best though). When they werent doing anything, they were "Watching" valerie do my hair which wasnt very comfortable (ever had four people staring at you silently?) After only three near burns by the flat iron, I was done...and less than impressed. I have a chemical burn, a sore scalp, and dry looking hair. The cut is well done but my hair is NOT styled at all. I could have done this at home and not had to pay $100 (YES...$100) or waste 4 HOURS and 18 MINUTES of my life. I was supposed to be at work at 2pm, but was LATE TO WORK because of the lack of professionalim in this salon. I walked out of there at 1:48pm completely dissatisfied. I will not be going back. I will take 2.5 hours of unprofessional for $70 before I ever pay $100 for an overrated and unprofessional NON-style.

Valerie is sooooo talented!!!! I had sister locks and needed a transition to match my life, she was able to salvage all of my hair! It looked healthy and strong when I walked out of her shop! I left feeling and looking like an entire new woman! It help turned me into the professional business woman that I had been wanting to be! I was beyond pleased!

Tiara was awesome!. Great hairstylist with a winning personality to match! She listens and asks you how you desire your hair to be. Not to mention she is efficient and thorough. My hair is now relaxer free and has grown out so much since Val has done my hair. I had so much breakage and hair damage from getting color. I had sew ins and I can now where my own natural hair. Its full long and healthy.
