Im revising this review now for the third time. Ive been going to see Zach for about a year now and my cut and color were amazing, until this last appointment. Unfortunately, its been my experience at a number of salons that once youre a regular, the stylists get comfortable and a little sloppy. Im kind of thinking thats what happened with Zach. My cut wasnt even, one side was way shorter and less thinned out, and I had only asked for a trim and he took about an inch and a half off. My color was also not what I wanted. I do not like stripey color and he gave me these bold stripes of very dark red (I had asked for "copper" like a penny) and a very light white blonde. I went back two days later and he fixed it for free, but Im still not totally sure that Ill be going back. In the original review, I had a big issue with the front desk/appointment people. And Ill say right now, if I wouldnt have had a groupon for the salon, I wouldnt have gone there after the fiasco of trying to schedule an appointment. Called to set up an appointment for a partial highlight and hair cut. They cant get me in for over a week (because theyre not open past 6pm most days) and of course theyre booked solid on weekends. OK fine. I took whatever appointment I could get. Something then comes up and I have to rescheduled. I call the day of and they tell me its $25 to cancel if its not 24 hours in advance, though no one mentioned this the first time I called. Sure, my bad, but no one told me of this policy, so I complain and the girl lets me off the hook. OK, cool, that was nice (though she was snotty about it). I reschedule and then something ELSE comes up and I have to cancel for real this time (because, cmon, life happens!). I call WELL before 24 hours in advance (more like a week in advance) and they give me grief AGAIN about how theyre going to charge me $25. Um... so this policy is just entirely arbitrary and you can decide at random how long in advance someone needs to call in order to cancel??? Not cool.

I came across my notes as I am clearing out 2014 and bringing in 2015 and decided to write a review on this salon. It is my first negative review I have written. I was traveling to Dallas for business and thought it would be fun to get a new look while I was in town. I love Aveda and did a lot of research on different salons before choosing Artistic. It was such a disappointment! I had pictures of what I wanted as well as pictures of myself to show the types of cut and color I was looking for. The stylist pretty much disregarded my requests - did not color it at all and would not cut it as short as I wanted. In the end, I left ($57 later) with a slight trim that any corner shop could have done. When I got home, I wrote a personal and confidential letter to the owner explaining what had happened. I wasnt looking for a refund; I just thought he would want to know about the type of service (or lack of) that a customer received. I included before and after pictures of myself as well as the pictures I had shown the stylist. I thought I would at least hear back from the salon but I never heard from anyone. This was all in October/November. The stylist was pleasant; she just disregarded what I was asking for. And it was so awkward; I didnt know how to handle it, but that was my own fault! I just didn’t expect that from an upscale salon. Setting up the appointment was easy and the communication with the front desk was friendly and efficient. However, I would not return to this salon or recommend it.

I came in for a color and was with marqita and boy was I in for a treat or trick. The salon will lure you in with cheap wine and even cheaper decor. While I was waiting for my color to be mixed a mouse ran across my foot and pooped on it.... then a roach came behind and ate it. Then my colorist was mad and stepped on the roach and then asked why her pet Suzie the mouse was on the loose. Marquita asked if I wanted another drink...I noticed her pouring the wine and drinking it herself. After she did my color job she took me to the sink to rinse my hair. She was burping and laughing. A lot of my hair came out! Then she did the unthinkable...she said oh no and shaved the side of my hair claiming it was so big in Hollywood! Then she almost passed out with charging me because she was drunk. My hair looked like Averill Levine! Then she invited me to souper salad so she could eat because she had so much to drink!! I said no honey you take you fat self to the buffet!

From the moment you walk in you feel valued as a client. ( Imagine that ) The front desk always makes you feel welcomed and valued.Truly this is Dallas hidden gem. In life we have choices - we take care of health and diet. Please do the same with your beauty products. Your well being will soar once you get with natural products. There is a difference , believe me. I do not lavish compliments easy: but this salon deserves it. I go to Noel who is a gifted maestro . So professional in every wait. Value your time and value yourself - you will not regret it.

Zachary and Lisa were great. I enjoyed the professionalism and quality of Dan and his team. They genuinely care about their clients and I have found a place to get all my needs met. I spoke with Joe there as well and the company from everybody was very hospitable. When you come in you have some of that negative energy from the game we call life. When you leave you feel better, look better and can take on the world!!!! If you havent been to Artistic Salon Spa you are truly missing out.

I first came here years ago, on a blind appointment, and have been getting my hair cut and colored here ever since. Ask for Melissa. She does a wonderful job on cut, color, style and up-dos. She is professional and keeps you involved as she is coloring, cutting and/or styling your hair. No surprises; other than, youll be pleasantly surprised!

I recently went to this salon for a massage. I told the lady repeatedly to lighten up and she did not. After my 30 minute massage, I was in more pain than when I arrived. When I got home, my back was hurting. When I took off my shirt, I noticed bruises on my back. Not just bruises, but thumb marks. I will never use this salon again.

Scheduling was easy, front people were polite and service was great. Products all smell great. Jesse ( I think her name was) gave a terrific rinse out really massaging my scalp, really terrific! I enjoy the laid back atmosphere and plan on going back again.
