My Mom was diagnosed with Stage IV liver cancer on April 22nd, on April 30th her condition significantly deteriorated and I needed to make arrangements for Moms remains according to her wishes. From my first contact with Local Cremation I knew I had chosen the right place to handle my Moms remains. I contacted Local Cremation in Arlington to make an appointment but I was uncertain when I would be able to get there since Hospice was sending over a hospital bed. Sonya Giles immediately told me she would come to me and not to worry. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sonya, she was always very professional not only in her appearance but in the manner in which she spoke with me, my brother and sister as well as two young nephews and my niece. She was so compassionate and caring, she explained every detail of the process and provided me with a sense of comfort knowing my Mom would be handled with dignity and respect. My Mom passed away on May 7th and Sonya came to pick her up. She actually had tears in her eyes when we hugged at the front door. Sonya kept me posted on the status of the physician signing the death certificates and assisted in getting everything processed. The day I picked-up my Moms remains that were divided into 7 keepsake urns for my family, Sonya had set them up on display in a small room and again this provided me with a sense of comfort and dignity. Everything Sonya had discussed with us regarding the costs were exactly as discussed; there were no hidden fees, nothing extra was added on and everything was perfect. We are so impressed with Local Cremation that my husband and I are going to meet with Sonya in the future to pre-plan our cremation arrangements. Thank you Local Cremations for being affordable and professional but especially having Sonya Giles as a crucial part of your Team. She is passionate about what she does and her career path was definitively the right choice for her.

Wendell Cox is a kind, compassionate, professional who handled all aspects of my fathers cremation and memorial service at the National Cemetery. Since my father had served in the military, we chose the Heros Package. It was perfect and included a lovely flag holder and engraved plaque for the flag that was presented at the National Cemetery during the service. During the initiatl meeting with Wendell, he did not try to sell additional services, but rather showed me what was available. He and his staff helped me with the planning of the Order of Service Program to be handed out at the memorial service, assisted with the picture on the program, he printed it and the final program was lovely. He made all the arrangements with the National Cemetery as well and placed the obituary in the DMN. He was at the service and made sure that everything was perfect. I highly recommend Wendell and Local Cremation and have told many of my friends about him. He handled everything from start to finish with dignity, kindness and respect. I was never disappointed. He was knowledgeable and efficient about what needed to be done, and he communicated all of this to me and my other family members with the greatest respect. Having first called other funeral homes, I understand the incredible service he is providing for families who want their loved ones well-cared for without feeling that they are being taken advantage of during a stressful time. Scott answered our call on a Sunday and was very helpful explaining the process. Very considerate and professional. We went in on Monday and met with Wendell. He and the staff were very accommodating and patient as we asked our questions and made our choices. We even changed a couple of things as we went along through the process of them picking up my brother and making arrangements for the cremation. They were all very courteous and professional. Pricing was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend using them. Strange to click five starts - says I loved it. While I didnt love the event that happened, I guess you could say I loved their service to our family.

Wendell was very caring and efficient and I was very relieved to have his clear and careful help during a difficult time. I have had previous experience with funeral arrangements that were the complete opposite and therefore was all the more grateful. The website as stated in another review is very clear and useful, and was a major reason for my choosing his services. Thank you for enabling me to carry out my family members wishes simply and reasonably as they wanted, and for being compassionate and professional as well...I appreciate what you do and highly recommend your service.

Liked the way in which Wendell and staff helped us in performing the last rites for my wife. Being a Hindu i was apprehensive if i could really give the best possible farewell for my wife in US being away from India, but i was really happy that we could do all the rituals we wanted in our traditional way. Reflecting back i am fully satisfied that i was able to give my wife the best possible sendoff in a traditional Hindu religious way.
