I love this place. Their menu is unique, their ingredients are fresh and it is delicious. This is also a very clean restaurant. Be sure to look over the menu in full. They run out of veggie burgers and a few other items throughout the day so while youre waiting in line, pick out one thing you want and then a back-up choice or two in case you get to the counter to find your first choice is not available. The bacon is amazing. The bakery next door is under the same ownership and provides the bakery items. Be sure to stop there, too. Its wonderful and the people are very nice. I am going to list some things I feel need improvement, but Im still giving it 5 stars because for the food, it is worth it. This is good, fresh food - real food - and that is not easy to come by these days. I appreciate their dedication to putting quality food on the table. NEEDED IMPROVEMENTS: 1. I do wish they would refrigerate their cakes, which are homemade and wonderful, but in the humidity and heat of the area, the frosting is often sliding off. That looks bad but also no one really wants sweaty cake/bakery items. 2. Be careful - if you go to the bathroom or up to the counter for something, they will clear away your food and drink. The waiters need to really work on this or the cafe needs to put something on the table customers can use to indicate whether theyre finished or not. This happened to me twice on one trip and to several other customers as I was sitting there. Then the wait staff really was not very nice about it. 3. They stay busy so allow time to wait. They do move the line fairly quickly but could stand a new system overall for taking orders. Time to upgrade to meet the customer demand. As popular as they are, there is no reason for customers to have to wait that long every time they come for a visit. 4. They wont consistently offer you a drink refill - some customers they will, others they wont. I am not sure why this is. Ask for what you need. You will have to flag someone down. I just go on up to the counter myself and ask because sometimes the wait staff ignores you. Its kind of awkward. Again, another symptom of a very busy small business that just needs to tweak a few things to meet the actual customer base they serve. 5. Post the items you are out of!!! People wait all that time in line then get to the counter to be told youre out of things. If it is posted on the chalkboard, it would save people a lot of time. Also, if they have dietary limitations, it would give them a chance to go elsewhere without losing a half hour or more standing in line just to be disappointed. 6. Provide more menus so that people in line can all be reading something while waiting, and also chairs. Additionally, why not take orders from people directly as they stand in line? Then when they get to the front, they can hand that to the cashier. I used to manage a similar restaurant. We constantly made small changes to accommodate busy times. Interact with the people standing in line. It never feels welcoming and also it is a lot of pressure on the one cashier. Get an additional cash register, some chairs, show you are ready for the people you draw to your restaurant.

We stumbled upon this gem while driving around the neighborhood admiring the beautiful turn of the century mansions nearby. It took three attempts before we were successful in dining here. The first night, it was already closed for the evening, the second attempt was when we discovered they are closed on Mondays. Third time was a success and it was worth all of those attempts as the food here is amazing! We ordered the fish du jour which comes with two delicious sides (we opted for the apple pecan salad and the house salad, both of which were absolutely delicious. The fish was salmon and was perfectly cooked with slight searing on the outside while juicy and tender inside. We also ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a side of delicious potato salad and the burger was cooked perfectly, served on a whole wheat bun. We devoured our meal commenting on how tasty everything was with every bite. This is a fantastic location for a fabulous meal. It is clean and nicely decorated and the staff are friendly and efficient. Most of the clientele appear to be locals and many of them know one another. Great place to dine that we would highly recommend!

Great experience. The boyfriend and I went for a lunch while on our anniversary, and enjoyed the food very much! We had the Portobello Mushroom burger and the Spinach Artichoke Pasta. Both dishes were amazing. The flavors all complemented each other perfectly. We got the Apple Pecan Salad as the side, and if you are a fan of fruit salads, i recommend getting this one! Also, make sure to check out their apricot peach tea, its some of the best we had. For dessert we tried the Lemon Square and it was delicious as well. Cheesecake texture, with just the right amount of tart. The only downfall that this place had was its seat yourself, first come first serve seating. They had 2 large parties dinning in with them, which really didnt give much room or available tables for their lunch rush. The customer service from the wait staff was great, the cashier was good, nothing exceptional. I watched them interact with their other customers, and everyone was treated with the same happy and pleasing attitude. Definitely check this place out for a good lunch.

My wife and I were down here in Galveston on Jan. 16th, 2016 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I found this place just looking around Google Maps. My wife is a vegan, so I wasnt sure how it was going to work out. Im glad we chose this place. When we were seated, the manager came out and spoke with us on how he could accommodate my wife. I was totally impressed with the fact that he went out of his way to assist my wife in creating a meal not on the menu. She had a house salad and the meal he created. She was able to finish her salad, and about 6 bites of her main dish. She wasnt able to finish her meal. Ever since her cancer surgery, her eating ability has been compromised. I had the Jagerschnitzel w/bow tie & cheese. It was absolutely delicious! However, it was a lot to finish. Got about 85% finished. We will be back when in Galveston. If you want a nice atmosphere and great food, I highly recommend this place. Stop by if your in Galveston, youll be glad you did!

Not a good experience for me. We were visiting Galveston and we checked out of our rental today. I was walking around with my dog and my three month old baby while the rest of the family went to Pleasure Pier. I specifically walked to Mosquito Cafe because I read online that it was dog-friendly. After waiting outside in line for 20-30 minutes, I was finally able to step into the restaurant. A waitress approached and told me I needed to take my dog to the patio and tie her up, and then come back in to order. I said ok, no problem and went to the patio. The gate to the patio was locked and I couldnt get in. The same waitress came to the gate and told me "I dont know what to tell you, there are no tables available out here" even though I could see empty tables. At this point my baby was fussy and hot, I was hot, and so was my dog. I was very disappointed, I didnt like the situation, so I left.
