My updated review also comes with a complimentary update of MY sort of secret ultra-delicious sandwich featured on the off-the-menu menu. Some of the older staff know how to make it without much instruction. Central Market is near and dear to my heart for several reasons. Its like the rebellious Whole Foods, carrying many specialty products but flipping the bird to the crunchy, gluten hating, dietary restriction having "foodies" (you know who you are). They wont promise that theres no added coloring, or that it is good for you, but they CAN promise that you will find what you need and that it will be delicious. Oh, and did you know that all their prepared foods are made in-house? Thats more than Whole Foods can say (*cough*you liars*cough*). The soups are on point, and I am a sucker for their breads and bagels. And for those of you who are just looking to hook up... Central Market is full of single hotties waiting to get picked up --- trust me. Just strategically fill your cart with wine and some Love Dip from the bulk section, and start hunting for your soul mate... or for some strange, whatever. Now, if youve read thus far youre probably starving. Here is how you order "The Justine" at the sandwich bar: 1. BREAD - Italian bread, hollow out the top (3" for 1-2 people, 6" for 3-4 people) 2. SAUCES - (Top bread) Salsa Pesto + Chipotle Mayo and (Bottom bread) Pesto + Garlic Herb Spread (i.e. 2 spreads on one bread, and 2 spreads on the other bread) 3. MEAT - 1/2 Pastrami on Top bread and 1/2 Roast Beef on the other (looks like 2 open faced sandwiches) 4. CHEESE - Manchego or Swiss on the Pastrami, Havarti on the Roast Beef 5. TOAST open faced once, then put on the panini press if theyll allow it. IF NOT, then just toast as usual. 6. DON"T FORGET the a side of pickles to-go and a bag of Dirtys jalapeno chips Obviously I couldnt give out the secret ingredient, but if you get the right sandwich magician then they should just know how to build it without any missing parts. If for nothing else, come to Central Market for this sandwich. Let it blow your mind. It will take you down the rabbit hole in the Wonderland that is Central Market.

Review on CUSTOMERS at Central Market! For Prepared Food Area: Custom Salad Bar: They have a menu board that states how much is the limit for each salad. How much it is for extra meat or toppings. I do not understand why people get upset when told it will be extra then make a scene to get things for free. The menu states the salads are $7.99 for 1 lb. If you would like more there is a salad bar that you can make your own salad for $7.99 per pound. Sandwich Bar: Same as the Salad Bar they have a menu that lets you know how to customize a sandwich. If you would like to add more it will be extra again, i do not understand why people like to pick fights with employees about this they are just obeying the rules that the corporation has stated for there business. I hate when i see grown women and men make a big scene about how they want something free. I understand that something is extra and i pay if i do not want to pay extra i just do not get more then i am supposed to. Have a great day!

My favorite grocery store in Houston. I am biased toward CM because I live attached to it, but I use to shop HEB and CM has all HEB products for the same low prices. There are several overpriced items at Central Market, but if you are smart you can easily shop here just as if you were at HEB. There fresh produce is top notch, always looking good and of great quality. The employees have always been nice and helpful. The have food service as well and the fresh made salads are cheap and tasty. My wife share one for $9 and are always full and satisfied. They can get extremely busy and crowded on the weekends but its all apart of the experience of a fine grocery store. They do do samples on the weekends from 11 to 3-4?? There is live music every weekend on their patio which is nice to listen to. We have taken part in one of their cooking classes and that was a very enjoyable time, learned a lot and the food we cooked was great! I always recommend CM.

This has to be my favorite grocery store in Houston. HEB does a wonderful job of combining great food, and some of the best prices around. The produce department is amazing, it is well laid out and had a great selection of fruits and vegetables. They have organic and conventionally grown foods. The meat department is amazing with everything they have. They have a wide variety of meats and seafood. They are happy to cut you whatever you like. I like the dry good section of the store, while this store has higher end brands, and you wont see too many store brands here there is a range of prices. Nice selection in the items that can be harder to find. Their wine and beer selection is excellent, and I love the 10% off when purchasing six bottles. The bakery is excellent, and they sample bread they way everyone should, with butter. Whats the one thing I dislike about this store? It isnt close enough to my house.

If you are looking for some high quality goods, and something that you cannot get at just any other grocery store, central Market is the place. I thought I was in heaven when I walked in there...but I love grocery shopping so that type of thing excites me :) Produce and Meats are amazing. You can also order prepared foods. Expect to pay a premium price for most items. Honestly, though, there isnt too much that I would go there for that I could not get at my local HEB, Especially since it is a pretty good distance from my home. Not a place I would go to do bulk grocery shopping. I would say, go for the experience, pick up a few things that you never bought or seen before, but dont expect a whole lot of great deals. May be a good place to go if youre trying a special meal. They also offer cooking classes that I would love to try one day as well as beer and wine tasting classes.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Central Market. I go about 3-5 times a week. Thats how much I LOVE CENTRAL MARKET!! This place is amazing. The food is always fresh, tasty, healthy and the organic selection is great. The prepackaged meals....whoa! Fantastic!! I do NOT eat TV dinners or prepared meals at any other grocery store. Central Markets quality is wonderful. I shop for my groceries here as well as purchase meals to eat on their patio or take home. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. On the weekends, there is usually live music on the patio. Depending on the season, Central Market also does themed culinary creations by a talented staff. Examples are Passport to Italy, Beer Fest, Citrus Fest, Chocolate Fest, Wine Fest, Hatch Chile Fest, Cheese Fest and so much more. I absolutely love this place. If you havent tried it, you are missing out!!! Thanks CM!!
