I hate to be another person who just writes a complaint and others think that only negative things get written about places. Im sure there are many people that go to this place and never have had a problem. These are the people that are willing to just go in there and get taken advantage of by sleazytrainers who think they are used car salesmen. Do not just dare to go in there to try the gym for the seven day pass that is available online. They will do whatever it takes to pressure into signing up for some B.S. promotion "that wont be here next week." The truth is that this is simply a sales gimmick that is used to bring fear into people. When he confronted me with that, I confidently said that I wouldnt have a problem paying the extra price (knowing that another promo would come back around.) After realizing that I wasnt easily pressured and I knew all of his stupid tricks, he then told me that he would not accept my pass because I have an out of state ID (this is nowhere written in the fine print of the pass, or even anything indicating to see an employee for further details). Ok, I thought, maybe there have been problems with tourist taking advantage of the trial period. Well, I offered to go get my proof of insurance out of my car and he still was talking to me about signing up for a membership. What is really ashame, is that I was joining a gym for the yoga classes, and the receptionist was nice enough to let me go to the class before having to deal with the high pressured salesmen. I personally went up to the yoga instructor after class and thanked him for a very unique class and was wanting to show appreciation for his skill. If I knew that he would teach every class I would have signed up on the spot, and I had full intentions of signing up if I wasnt disappointed by the other instructors I would meet during the trial period. Well in the end it sucks for me because I had found an affordable place with good yoga instructors, but I refuse to support a company that has no accountability. I like a good deal, but I am more willing to pay for customer service.

Most of the people at this location are nice enough. The problems I see and hear about are not huge, but they should still be addressed. There is a complete lack of professionalism. YES, its a gym, wear your work out clothes. But whats the point of not having a uniform? One of the male trainers wears a shirt that is ripped up, Im assuming to show off his muscles, but it looks tacky. Theres a female trainer that wears shorts that so short that every time I look at her, shes pulling them out of her nether regions. And this girl, shes the worst of them all. Im sure the tattoos go over well in the bars and night clubs, but this is a place of business. Ive got tattoos myself, but in my opinion, unless youre working for the tattoo parlor, they dont have a place in the business world. Its disheartening that I pay $250/month for gym dues and personal training (which is a rip off!! 30 minute sessions are ridiculous.) and the people working there dont show the least amount of respect for their job. Its not all of them, Ive had the pleasure of speaking to Lamar a few times and he seems really nice and actually seems to CARE about the job. Ive not spoken to any of the other people in sales, so I cant actually put them all down. Theres also a couple girls at the reception desk that are NEVER happy to be there. There is one, though, she is exceptional (I dont know her name but I always notice her long nails are painted brightly!) All in all, having been to a number of different gyms in my life, I am disappointed only by the lack of professionalism found here. The gym itself, is quite nice. And my trainer, is such a nice person. I wish someone would whip them into shape. Sometimes being there feels no different than hanging out with a bunch of high schoolers. They just need to grow up and realize, this is a JOB, not a popularity contest or dating show.

I dont really understand why this place has such bad reviews. Think for a second: the only real reasons a gym can have bad reviews are 1) bad equipment, 2) lack of equipment, 3) too crowded, 4) bad staff. This gym has nearly none of the above. I have gone 4/5 times a week for a few months and had zero problems. I do not attend the classes so I cannot comment on the quality, but they have a lot of free weights and a regular crowd on the basketball court. They have a ton of machines... occasionally one is out of service, but it is usually fixed within a week. Compared to the Katy location (which has much better reviews), this gym is far less occupied and has more space in the free weights area. I went to the Katy location to try it out, and the basketball court had like 50 people sitting wanting to play. Maybe the skill level is higher, but I would rather just play. The only real complaint I have is regarding the personal trainers, which is a non-issue for me. They offer a free session when you sign up, which I suggest should be ignored. The rates are ridiculous (over $100/hr...), and it was an extremely hard sell. In fact, I nearly canceled my membership because of how awkward the hard sell was. The head trainer (Chris?) started insulting me when I told him I didnt want to pay over $400 a month for 2 short sessions a week. The sales manager (Eric) seems like a great guy and has always been happy to answer any questions I have about the facility and thoroughly explained the millions of membership options when I first joined. The gym is also undergoing a remodeling, so the equipment/floors etc. will be very modern.

Dodgy- Signed up for a two week membership for in-laws who were visiting. No paper work exchanged and paid them in advance for two weeks. Before the two weeks were up went to cancel, the guy and the front desk (who was rude) would not let me in to see BRAIN who had initially signed us up and asked if we had an appointment. I explained to him why I was there and he said I have to call the operations manager who has left for the day. Called operations manager and cancelled. I noticed that my credit card was being charged weekly, again called the operations manager and explained the problem she said that the weekly membership was $40 and I should be happy to have received it at $12 per week, I said that is beside the point and BRAIN had never said so she took my number and said that she will have BRAIN call me. Two days passed and nothing, called operations manager and she took my number again. Finally on day 3 BRAIN called and talked to him. A rude person, totally different person compared to 2 weeks ago when he wanted to sign my in-laws up. He said he is not then one who does the cancellation and he has nothing to do with it. $13 or $26 is not going to make me poor or make LA Fitness rich, however in my opinion it is a dodgy operation. Avoid this place if you can or until the management realizes that the idea is not only to get new customers through the door but more important is to keep existing customers and work on future potential customers as well.
