Decent facility but... I was looking for a nice gym that had a good amount of cardio equipment and free weights that was close enough to my work. MAC fit the bill as far as equipment and facilities (full locker room that could use updating, plenty of treadmills/bikes, multiple benches, racks, and free weights). However, after switching to a new gym I had failed to cancel my membership for many months after non-use. Upon realizing this, I attempted to cancel my membership on 1/24 effective no later than 1/24 but hopefully back-dated a few months since my last use. I was notified by MAC management that not only could I not back-date my cancellation, [MAC management quote: "Also, we have a number of members who pay their dues diligently each month, but havent been in the club in months. Its out of fairness to them that we adhere strictly to the 30 day cancellation policy and do not issue refunds in the case of non use. Im sure you understand."] but the 30 day cancellation policy is actually longer. If you dont cancel prior to the 18th of the month in which you wish to cancel, you will be billed again in the following month, per MAC. So, this gym is suitable for what gyms are for, just be careful around memberships. The "No Contract" / 30 day cancellation policy isnt quite what it seems. My impression is that this place tries to build a community for its members and wants people to feel like they belong to that community. Turns out that its just like any other business...as long as theyve got your $$$ they really dont care about the member. Fair enough.

Great gym, great area. The area will be much improved once all of the construction between Memorial & Dairy Ashford is completed which isnt the clubs fault. After a couple of years as a member, I only have a couple of complaints. The mens locker room desperately needs to be updated particularly in the shower area, the MAC may be the only fitness club in Houston with no privacy when showering. Id give the place more stars if they made those changes. Lastly, some of the people who are personal trainers are rude and will walk up and take your weights/machines once you complete a set. Apparently they are more important because they are training a client than you are just working out by yourself. Ive actually had an incident with one of the older female trainers who thinks the whole free weight area is just for her and her clients. Also, dont expect the basketball area or racquetball court to be available during reasonable evening club hours..... there is always some activity going on in those areas and they usually arent done until well into the evening.

Memorial Athletic Club is a very important part of my life. I have been a member for about 25 years and have participated in many classes and activities. The MAC masters swim team is outstanding with great coaches and teammates. The aerobics classes....such as Zumba are a great workout and lots of fun. The newest class that Ive tried is Bogafit....a great experience and superb workout. The personal training, organized swim team, private coaching sessions, exercise equipment, aerobics classes, and the MAC staff have all contributed to making me fit and healthy. MAC is my fitness home.

Coming from 24h fitness, there are many things that stand out at the MAC for me. First off, everyone seems to be so courteous, even overly so. People rack their weights, wipe off equipment, put things where they belong, ask you if you want to work in, etc etc. Its like a parallel universe where things work as designed! The amenities are on par with the membership fee IMHO but the fact that its rarely crowded and I can get in, workout, and get out quickly makes it perfect for what I need. My kiddos also enjoy the childcare. 5 stars from me!

MAC Aquatics is the place where my son grew up! From private lessons & stroke clinics to Youth Aqua Fit to Stratford High School Swimmer, and then working there as a pool monitor & swim instructor, the MAC Aquatics programs and in particular, Kathy Veen, taught my son how to be a great swimmer and responsible young man. It is THE place to go for exceptional instructors and an environment that creates confidence in the water.

Our son started in group swim lessons at the MAC Aquatic Centre around six years ago, progressed to the YAF swim team and still trains there weekly with Coach Kathy. If you are looking for a swim school where your child can develop through all levels and one that they enjoy going to then this is the place. Our son is now a strong proficient swimmer who is confident in both the pool and open water.

Great neighborhood facility. Crowd is generally long-time members - families, high-school kids and older folks. Even at peak times, equipment is available. Nice locker rooms, saunas and pools (yes, two pools - indoor and outdoor.) All the cardio and strength equipment is well maintained; I literally have never seen any apparatus out of order. Child care and a ton of classes are included.

It is a good gym, clean, I would say it lacks some free space to do any type of work out on your own, somewhat dated in looks and machines. The pools are the charm of the place good temperature and you can actually get to swim. If you are into basketball maybe not the place for you it is always in used either by the training offered with extra pay or by multiple people!

From water safety, to swimming lessons, to youth swim groups, my daughter has benefitted from all. The staff is courteous and supportive to both children and adults. As a parent, I am thrilled with the swimming/stroke instruction and guidance, especially from Kathy Veen, that my daughter has received. MAC aquatic center is a comfortable place to learn a life skill.

This is a great place. It ha an older crowd but that is good since me and my Sugar Daddy love to workout here. He can get really sore sometimes too so I will give him a deep tissue massage in the locker room area. This place has all the free weights too and machines for your athletic needs as well as running machines.

Different from most athletic clubs around in that it is a local business and not a chain. Very friendly staff. Maybe it is not as large as some of the chain ones but has a very nice staff with a great atmosphere. Never felt like it doesnt have something I need. Good facilities which are continually being updated.

As much as I loved this gym, I left after they started making budget cuts on classes a little over a year ago. YMCA Katy still has just a bit more options, but they both compare in value depending on what your looking for. It was a pleasant experience, and I would definitely make recommendations!

It is an amazing place to work oit. The only problem is that the shower areas dont have stalls, so theres a bunch of naked old guys everywhere. Kind of a weird situation, but there are more bathrooms than that one bathroom
