Wendy I totally feel your familys frustration with this facility. I too have had a bad experience with the Childhood Center. The administrative staff there is not friendly or inviting and I cant expect them to be after talking to the owner Ann M. Quiad who had a yelling match with me over the phone. This place from my experience is not concerned with children but with money. Anns reason for not allowing me to receive a refund for services that I have never used was "If I gave every parent that changed their mind a refund I would go out of business". Well considering that The Childhood Center is one of the cheapest daycares in the Greenway Plaza area and offers a few more amenities than the other daycares in the area them not refunding my family $850 is not going to cause them to go out of business. Also if your facility is having a situation such as mine happen on a constant basis then maybe you should as a business owner get to the root of the problem so that your business wont have several parents changing their minds. I honestly reached out to her to see if she could help ease some of the discomfort that I was having about starting my child at her facility. I called and left a message for her to call me back as well as emailed her from my work email address. She responded to my email but responded to my personal email address and then to top it off she missed a letter in my personal email address name so the email never got to me. Luckily she was smart enough to also include my husbands email on her response and he was able to forward me her email. I in return had to call her as she never called me and I made it very clear in my email to her that I would be waiting for a call from her. She also lied to me about the fact that she had to hire a new teacher for my child to be enrolled in her facility and that her facility does not have a waiting list. Well to clear it up a child was getting moved to the next class and that is why an opening was available for my child to start I got that information directly from the two year old lead teacher and the center does have a waiting list that you have to pay $200 to get on. I should have ran in the very beginning when they told me it was $200 to put her on a waiting list but when I asked where my child would be on the waiting list I was told that they could not provide me with that information. All this place is concerned with is MONEY!!! PARENTS BEWARE!!!!

The Childhood center is the best place to bring your kids! I have two girls age 3 and 4 and when we moved to Houston I needed full time care for them. We were used to having a nanny but not knowing anyone in the area I didnt have a choice but to look for a daycare center with a serious curriculum. When I went to visit a few different childcare places I saved the childhood center for last. I brought my, at the time, 3 year old with me. Her reaction to the other places we visited was not good. Her body language and demeanor was closed and standoffish, I was also very discouraged. When I got to the childhood center and walked in I was shocked at how fun the place looked! I loved the lay out and all the different areas and activities. My 4 year old instantly was excited and engaged in checking the place out. She even wanted to stay and play! Needless to say I had my girls start the following Monday in March 2015. Both my girls attended full time from then until our move out of state in October 2015. They never complained about going to "school". They enjoys the small group of kids and we all loved the instructors. Ms. Erika is hands down the best teacher I have had the pleasure of knowing. She truly loves the children and has control of the group while being fun and comforting. Some activities the girls were involved in were play time with a variety of different toys, out door playing with objects or on a play set, crafts (the girls always had something new to bring home), and educational games. I would come by at the end of the day and had to wait until the activity was done before we could leave. I even thought I would surprise them and pick them up early one day and I was greeted with tears and "why are you here so early" because they didnt want to miss the rest of the days activities. I was astounded by how much they learned too! My four year old was writing her name and constantly surprising me with random things they learned at school. I was always kept in the loop of the days events and how the girls did. If there was anything I needed to work on at home the recommendation was always delivered in a caring and supportive manor. I found myself asking Ms. Erika for advise often. I wish I could have taken that place with me when we moved. I strongly recommend sending your children to the childhood center, you will love it too!

Attention Parents!! This facility is TOXIC for you and your child!! I wanted to report the abuse, negligence and gross mishandling whereby my 4 year old child was slapped in the face by a member of the staff who despite complaints is still employed with this facility. We reported this incident to the Director of The Childhood Center and no action was taken at all. We offered the school the opportunity to remediate the situation by perhaps disciplining the staff member involved but in response it was proposed to me that my child be reassigned to a lower level class. Need-less to say, that was not an option I was willing to consider. Due to lack of dependability and demonstration of unethical behavior from the owner we decided that it was in our child’s best interest to be removed from the facility. When we asked them to refund our tuition fee that was paid in advance to them, the Director tried to bribe us and told us that she can only give us our money back if we don’t report this incident with anybody. At that point we were more concerned about the security of our child and all the other innocent children enrolled with them more than having our money back, so we walked out without it. Later when we tried to followed up with them regarding our hard earned money , we started receiving threats from their lawyer and this made the situation even worse for us. Both me and my child went through a lot of emotional and mental trauma and even after 8 months, he still remembers the incident. This facility is also expensive and extremely unprofessional and their teacher/ child turnover rate is really very high. None of the teachers are highly qualified and dont have good enough experience. I regret that i didnt do a good research before enrolling my child with them. They care more about making money than the well being of your child..I would NOT recommend this to any parent/child.

My son is no longer at this center, we dont live in Houston anymore, but after experiencing the kind of care that he was given here I felt it necessary to share. Our 2 year old is in a nice day care in our new city, but thats just it - its a day care... Now that he is no longer under the care of the great teachers at The Childhood Center we can see a great difference. The Childhood Center should definitely not be referred to as a day care, it really is a child development center. Even though our son is only 2, he gets mistaken for an older 3 year old all the time (and not really because of his size). His verbal skills and ability to not only put together entire sentences, but entire thoughts, constantly impresses us. The teacher in his room had him fully potty trained before his 2nd birthday. Before we moved, he even came home and recited both the 7 days of the week and the 12 months of the year. Its unfortunate that I see another parent had a bad experience there, our son definitely would not have excelled so much if he had not been given the individual attention and care that his teachers gave him. In fact, when we first enrolled him there they let one of his teachers go because they were unimpressed with her level of attention to her kids - she would be classified as a "day care" worker to me, used to just sit and hold the kids all the time, but they replaced her with an amazing teacher (Alexandra) who really interacted and engaged the kids in my sons class. I would rave about this place even if they werent a new clean center with the best technology - none of that stuff mattered when it came to my sons verbal, physical and mental development. Thanks!
