Attended this gym for a year. All in all, I was pleased with what I got for the money. The staff is awesome, youll meet a bunch of great members, there was mostly always cucumber, strawberry or another type of infused water on tap, the basketball court gets a lot of action early weekday mornings and Saturday mornings, it is not over crowded as compared to other gyms and the machines and free weights are in excellent condition. They have ongoing events throughout the months for various non-workout things. Its the type of gym you can go to and sit, grab a meal/beer, watch the game and chat it up with your friends/acquaintances (although I never did this, I always saw others doing it). The only negative things I can think of is that people dont rack their weights. I am not sure if it is a wealthy entitlement thing or other, but it was a heartbreaking to see hardworking older women in the evenings clean and rack the weights of perfectly capable human beings. The building itself is older, but you wouldnt really notice it except for the locker rooms. The locker room staff are super cool and work hard. If anything, I would advise the owners/company to at least renovate the locker rooms asap, as this would up the appeal x2.

This is one of the friendliest gyms with the kindest staff. They have amazing group exercise classes in addition to the regular gym and it’s never so busy you have to fight for a spot on the equipment. Unlike most gyms, they do a great job keeping equipment and machines in working order. If anything breaks it’s fixed or replaced very quickly. They also do a great job keeping everything tidy and clean. In addition to the fitness side of the Downtown club, they have a delicious Friday members lunch and the friendliest bartender (Cleveland) in town. There are some reviews where people squawk at the price, but when you consider you only have to pay for one membership for your entire family, it’s actually very reasonable...especially for what you get. The Downtown Club is the best!

Between the Met, Houston Center and Plaza...Im not sure which one is the bigger dump. Renovations are long overdue and the membership dues are a joke! Even with the monthly dues (which are extremely high!), youre still expected to pay extra for any kind of social events they offer, which are also over priced. The food is sub par and the cleanliness of the place is questionable. However, if youre interested in paying top $$ to feel like youre working out in a retirement home, feel free to pay the money. Theres a reason you only sign a month to month contract there.....

The people who work there (service staff) are very nice. The place has undergone some extensive renovations. Its a family friendly establishment. The tennis courts are top notch and the equipment is high quality. We really enjoy being members here. Its been almost 9 years. My only wish is that the child care should be less exp because its free for members at other gyms in Houston so I have a hard time justifying the expense here. I am also a city wide member of the YMCA.

An Athletic Membership is about $200 a month. The Facility is a dump. The club doesnt keep the appointments it schedules with you. Private lessons are about $20 more than other gyms. Eating at their cafeteria will cost you $25 (including meal, drink, taxes, and tip). I understand the expense if you get your moneys worth but one does not, look elsewhere for your health needs.

Me and my children love going and look forward to working out, having dinner at the MET Club Downtown and delicious beverage. From my experience I have seen the staff treat and try to cater to all of their members needs. Including the kids, they kids club my 10 year old daughter loves to go to and my 11 year old son loves working out at the facility more than I Do.

Showers are dirty and curtains are slimy. Customer service stinks. Not upscale as advertised. Equipment often broken and Mgt gets doesnt seem to care. Told repeatedly that the club would be renovated, but its a lie to get people to join club. I would rather deal with used car salespeople than some of the employees at the Met.

Best downtown health club, indoor tennis program, full Pilates program, spinning, full court basketball, volleyball and squash leagues, restaurant, grill and bars! Do not forget to stop by the bar and grab a refreshing beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options) from our favorite bartender-Cleveland, he is so personable!

I love clubCorp. operations, I recommend any place that they own. I do have one gripe, I live in the Dallas area and Dallas is where clubCorp makes their headquarters. Why does clubCorp not have a restaurant health club set up like they have in Houston?

Ive had many gym memberships since Ive moved to Houston and this club is one of the best hidden secrets. Weekends are wonderful, after work at 6 might be full but always a machine or weights available. Dont tell anyone... its our secret

A great club. The people are caring, helpful and friendly. Its like family. Good, but not (yet) great facilities. Ive been at the Met since the Carter administration. Will never leave, at least not voluntarily!

Mens locker room is below the standards of a club like this. It should be better when the finish construction.
