It was a little disappointing that I was turned away. I called and made an appointment to be seen. Upon my arrival as I walk in I noticed three ladies working on clients; not to mention they werent close to being done. All I am asking is that my time be respected. I understand people fall behind, but if you are aware that you dont have the man power to take on additional clients just state that. I sat there for 30 mins. before she told me to come back on the following day. I called her and asked her if I could come early the next day and she told me no and processed to tell me she dose not do "take downs" on the weekend. I knew that was odd because Ive been there before on a Saturday when someone walked in asking to get their hair taken down and she sat them down immediately. In this case, I believe she did not want to miss out on an opportunity to make money, but soon realized she only has two hands and the other set of hands were occupied as well. When you call make your appointment ask very specific questions regarding time. And if you get an appointment allow 6-7 hours for them to finish( esp. on weekends- or you might get lucky and be out sooner)- Depends on how many are staffed for that day. It seems like she needs more staff to help alleviate problems later on down the line. Now, the owner can be a little sassy and it comes off strong. And I noticed that when she gets a little upset she starts speaking another language which indicates you might be saying something about the client (But hey, I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt). However, You cant go from speaking English to speaking ex: french and not expect your client to think your talking about them whenever there is somewhat of a disagreement--silly right? Well, Ive seen her in action. Not with me but with other clients.--She a bossy one! On another note: She can be friendly, and she wants the best for her clients. It may not seem like she does at times, but she helped me when choosing my hair and I was thankful for that!

I was disappointed, MeMe the owner has such a bad attitude. I wanted my hair bleached and she act like she didnt want to do it she was talking in another language to one of her friends about me which is very rude, then when I confronted her about it she lied and said she didnt. She bleached two strips of my hair and try to charge me 110 for bleaching, straightening, and trimming ...I never heard someone charging that much money for 2 small pieces of hair bleached and straighten then she finally brought the price down after multiple debates on the price with me. She charged 80, also Im natural; 2 days later my hair puffed up I been to her before and that happened as well she straightened it and it puffed up 2 days later. If that was the case I couldve straighten myself, if youre going to charge me that much at least have my hair be straight for 2 week or at least a week. I took care of it, wrapped it and etc so it wont puff up but it did smh. I also told her over the phone I wanted a Dominican blow out she said ok when I got there she didnt want to do it so she just straighten it regularly. A friend also went there to get their hair braided and a week later braids were falling out, she does a good job with hair but it never last long and its too much money for no reason ....I liked meme at first but I see she try to charge too much cause she knows its not too many natural hair salons. If you dont care that she over priced you then go for it, its the perfect place! But my last time going, never again!

I have been going to Femme Noire for a couple of years now and am pleased every time I get my hair done, from sew-ins, twists, to basic over handed french braids ... which I love and no one else has been able to do for me and MiMi and her staff are always nice and friendly. I always get compliments on my hair after leaving MiMis shop. Oh did I fail to mention that I drive at least 2+ hours just to get to her shop. Yes there are other beauticians in my area who could do my hair, but not at the level of quality I get when I go to MiMis and I do not mind paying a bit more. My mother always says you get what you pay for ... Id rather pay the price and get a burberry hair do than pay for a knock off... and they styles last! Although MiMi and her staff speak another language sometimes, it does not offend or make me uncomfortable ... I think we all have experienced this one time or another when we get our nails done or go to a Mexican restaurant ... I just figure its easier for them to communicate in their primary language than in their secondary one to get business done. Plus I really dont care what they are talking about, even if its about me, as long as my hair comes out on fleek!!!

The braids were absolutely beautiful! I recieved so many compliments I almost went back to have my hair braided again. However... I lost so much hair around my front edges, itll likely take years to recover. The braids were so tight I cried a bit. I even told the braider that I was tender-headed, she continued to pull my hair until my scalp was red. I had braid bumps for 3 weeks and it seemed to have stunted my hair growth for a while.Though they looked better than I couldve hoped for, they werent worth the damage that was caused to my hair. I went back to my old braider whose skills are sub-par. The braids arent much to look at, but at least my hair is growing again.

Her palm rolls for my locks were really good. Really good. But when I asked her for a style, she told me my locks were too short for it. I had loc knots a year ago by a guy in a salon in Brooklyn called Khamit Kinks. So I knew that I wasnt asking for too much. I was clear I wanted my hair styled. She didnt offer any alternatives. She just put me under the dryer and left me. Seemed like she either didnt have time or she was mad that I asked for something she couldnt do. I just wanted a style. Palm rolls were good. But I dont spend my money where services I ask for arent being rendered or at least an alternative is given.

Mimi is AMAZING!!!! I am so lucky to have found someone that helped me when my regular hair dresser left me on my wedding day. So thankful that I could find someone that understands how to grow my natural hair and help me get it back to a healthy place again. Weve been working together for almost two years now, and shes done my sew-ins each time. In between sew-ins, she helped me wash, deep condition my hair, and trim it so it could come back to fill life. Mimi is so great to work with. Very happy with her services! :)
