Not a fun place to go anymore. Cops watch you inside and stop you on the way out. Lots of cigar smokers everywhere with old men trying to pick up women. Music is too loud most of the time. Its a local hangout for me for the last 10 years to go and get a bite to eat, watch games, have a drink, listen to live music and just relax. Everything has gone down hill for the last 5 years, but its close for me to visit. Absolutely all my friends have quit going here because of the cops stopping them for sobriety tests on the way out. I thought they were just too drunk and probably needed a taxi, but Ive been stopped about 3 times and each time it was because someone I was hanging out with was targeted by the cops on the way out, so I get thrown in a taxi with them (never mind that you may have to wait 30 minutes in the cold or heat for a taxi until 2:30 in the morning. The band quits a little after 1am, last call is around 1:15. lights are on at 1:30, and you are pushed out the door by 1:45, sobriety tests at 1:46. Its definitely not the place to pop into if youve been drinking somewhere else and think it would be cool to go have a drink, dance and listen to some good music before calling it a night. Its more like youre deciding to stop by the Irving PD on the way home. The smoke is really bad here also because of cigar smokers mainly. Food is just OK (it used to be unbelievable), bar service is slow also even when its not busy. Drinks are expensive. Better choices for music, drinks and fun are Glass Cactus Nightclub, Sambuca 360 Legacy, Sherlocks (smoky) , Social House Addison, Ritz Carlton, ZaZa, Candleroom. If you go to Cool River, go early and leave early. Get out of there before the lights are turned on. Dont talk to the cops and really watch what you say or do on the way out. You really need to keep a low profile while you are in there and basically need to sneak out of there after last call. Dont hang out, just get out while you can. This is not biased information. Its factual and based on over 10 years of going to Cool River.

Think of plain Jane food but presented on a plate the same way one would prepare Prime steaks, or gourmet side items. The food is tasty, but if I were to judge it after I received my bill, I am less hesitant to speak kindly. Keeping in mind they are not serving Prime, they still charge $10 for a mere side Caesar that was too heavy on the dressing. The food all tasted like Bearnaise sauce, which was way to overbearing. My scalloped potatoes, (while Im aware is not a healthy choice on my part anyway) was drenched in oil; so much so that i spooned off oil on top. Our macaroni was watery, and they charged me $7 for a single flute of non-organic broccoli. Im accustomed to high priced dining, but it just seemed like they were trying to hide cheap food with sauces and make a buck. Our service was mediocre, but we all got a laugh from our server who tried to talk "distinguished" to our group. The staff took themselves way too seriously ignoring the fact that they were still wearing vests and buttons promoting the restaurant. They have a nice cigar lounge, and a wonderful wine list, but our cocktail server was dumb as rocks, and slow on the rounds. I am from down town Dallas and would much rather spend $450 on a meal prepared by chefs focused on quality rather than quantity.

WOW! This is a Steelers Nation Bar for sure. They have a 16ft by 12 ft screen in the main bar (yes, that is correct) and it is huge with great sound. Beers are just $2.00 (yes, $2.00 domestic). The manager is a Steelers fan so if we get a large enough crowd every week, we can watch the game on the main TV. This place is huge also and we need more Steelers fans to go there. This could be a GREAT location for Steelers fans. Food is great as well. This was the first time we were there and although it is a "registered" Steelers Nation Bar, there were not many Steelers fans there. We need to grow that number. You wont find a cleaner bar. Prices are not bad for food but good tasting. We are making this bar our place to watch the game with other Steeler fans. We have been to many Steeler Nations bars in the metroplex and I must say, this is a hidden gem. Come on Steelers fans, lets show up here every week and build this place into a rockin Steelers fan joint! Jim

Didnt have a problem getting in. I was meeting someone on the bar side but i thought i would sit down and have a nice dinner with my fiance. Everything was going great until we waited almost 1 hour for our food after ordering. After finally getting our food my fiances $30 shrimp was black. They never gave me my salad that i ordered with my food. We had 3 different waiters at that point that couldnt do their job right. Didnt fill up our water glasses after telling us that they would until we were about to leave. You would think if you bill is $100 you could at least get good service. I understand it was a Friday night but there was only about 4 or 5 groups of ppl there and about 12 waiters. I will never eat there again! We met our friend on the bar side (late). We really enjoyed the bar side, the band that was there was amazing! Very nice waiters that want to wait on you. Had a great time! :)

One star for the staff ( specifically the bartender) on 9-4 ( Chris?) . His Acknowledgment of us was poor, zero smile, a vacant look and it seemed as if he was bothered to wait on us. We frequent this place for dinner, cocktail And cigars and this bartender is the same at every visit. Thus it cant be discounted as a bad day. Anyway, We moved to the hummodore area, the staff there was great. I was brought a drink that was clearly the wrong vodka ( you just know) . I sent it back and moments later the bartender pushed open the side door, looked at me and said; " made it exactly like the last one!" Aside from this bartender the food is great, the atmosphere is great and I havent seen a bad band play there yet. Ill return but truly disappointed if i catch the same bartender on duty.

Stopped in for a quick drink with a friend, turned into dinner and cocktails. I dont often get "stuffy" drinks but I was in the mood for a good, dirty, vodka martini! I prefer potato vodka and plain old green olives. Once our lovely waitress gave me the potato vodka options we were off and running. That was a G-R-E-A-T martini!!! Just what Id been wanting!! After a few, we decided on dinner and both picked pot roast. Another winner! It was tender and seasoned just right! The mash potatoes were delish. The Wedge nice and crisp! The atmosphere has changed quite a bit since the last time I was there (less of a pick-up location more of the restaurant), but for the better IMO. Our waitress was attentive without stopping by every few minutes. Id enjoy going back.
