TLDR : This is not the place for vivid punky colors, they have friendly stylists but go to Moxie for cuts and chat only! The Hair stylists are all super nice and friendly, I enjoyed my visit, but my hair came out horribly! I made an appointment for a trim and asked for electric blue chunky streaks, I had a picture of the color and type. The stylist asked if it was okay if the dye faded into the color I wanted, as it came out darker than she thought. I said ok sure, went home, and washed it the next day. I was horrified to see that it bled out to a super light swampy green, not chunky strips at all, the stylist had done a weave pattern bleach and color just to the underside of my hair. I had a flight the next day so there wasnt anything I could do until I got back a week later. I called and told the stylist that answered what had happened, and went back for a fix. Different stylist took a stab at correcting, said I would have to pay for the product she used, I agreed. She got started but didnt bother to lift the green, just put on more dye, said it was mixed with violet and a drop of black, it looked better but still was very teal. When I asked if it could be made any closer to the blue I wanted I was told that was as blue as it was going to get... After talking to her some more I realized that they couldnt even have reached the shade of electric blue I wanted originally with the brand of dye they use at the salon! I wish they had told me that upfront instead of waiting until after I had paid $170 for the first dye job, and then another $45 for the second try at correcting. After doing some basic research I decided I couldnt make it any worse, so I waited a few weeks for it to fade out and picked up some bleach and developer at Sallys, then ordered a tube of Pravana Chromasilk Vivid Blue off of Amazon. $35 later It came out amazing and the perfect shade of electric blue.

I went here for the first time about a week ago to get my hair color fixed from my own mess up with box-bleach, etc. I scheduled an appointment, just to make sure I could get in, checked out their website and reviews and pictures on Yelp. My appointment was with Starr, the consultation went well, she gave me her honest input and another stylist chimed in which always helps. I usually walk into a salon kind with sort of an idea, but I usually leave it in the hands of the stylist. (Keyword: sort of... and this time I just wanted my hair fixed). Starr did a great job, she put the health of my hair first she processed it and we opted stay on the safe side and give it a few days and schedule another appointment for her to re-process my hair. Im very satisfied with her work. :) I really like the atmosphere at the salon, the stylists are obviously up-to-date with the latest trends in hair and color. I dont need a hole-in-the wall or super upscale salon, but this was perfect. Hair coloring is really an art form, and they excel at it. I like that they are all down-to-earth and not running around in heels and tight clothes like theyre going to the club. Also, their prices are VERY reasonable... I have spent waaaaaaay more for way less here in San Antonio, and I have been to a lot of the wine-o salons here. Ill definitely be back to Moxie.

I came here hoping to get blonde hair. I have red boxed dye in my hair. Star was my stylist. She told me from the beginning that it would not come out the exact blonde I would want. She informed me it would be like a strawberry blonde. There was a stylist there that had dyed her hair red and then to blonde. You could see a little bit of pink in her hair still and they told me it could look like that. But my hair came out much pinker that hers. She told me nothing else could help lighten the pink. But other stylists were telling her how to lighten it. I was very disappointed that she didnt even try to lighten it when others told her how to do it. Thankfully I was not charged to dye my hair basically back to the same color I originally had. I thought coming to a professional hair salon that specializes in color correction would help me but instead I just wasted a whole bunch of money.

This salon seems to specialize more in color than cut. Decided to try this salon because it had a high rating (5stars). I was grateful because they fit me in for a last minute haircut. As I sat in my chair waiting to be prepped with a cape, I looked around and noticed the other patrons were all doing color or highlights. I asked for an inch off my hair as well as long layers. I did not expect to have 2 different hairstyles on each side of my head. One side of me had a David Cassidy style while the other had a Florence Brady style. I did not want to ask to have it fixed as I was afraid to cut more of my hair of and would not be happy. Luckily I got squeezed into another salon to have it fixed that evening. I wasted 60.00 for a haircut at Moxie and paid an additional 75.00 to have it fixed.

I found Moxie through a Google search. I was looking for a place experienced in non-traditional hair color. After, a look at the Yelp! and Google Plus reviews, I decided this was the place. Not only did they get me in within the week I called, they did a fabulous job, and they werent over priced! Starr was simply wonderful! I went in for a pink dye job. My hair is naturally red (RED not Auburn or Strawberry Blonde but real Red), so this requires bleaching and care since my hair is long. She envisioned an ombre effect between pinks and I went with it. I am so glad that I did! It is beautiful and I will be going back again. My hair is intact, great cut, and superb color. What more could you ask for?

Honestly couldnt have asked for any better. Everything went perfectly as I wanted and I am very satisfied with their work. They even helped me fix my green hair color and made it twice as vivid and gave me advice on how to keep the color in so it doesnt fade out to quickly (Use cold water and baby it if you want to keep the vibrant colors for longer). Super friendly people, very helpful just what more could you ask for? I even brought in a rather "funky" hair cut and everyone is wonderful. Emile did my hair cut and color and shes wonderful all around as well. Im going back for sure!

I never leave Google reviews, but I have had such a terrific experience here that I really wanted to write something! Ive been seeing Jenna since I moved to San Antonio two years ago. She is hands down the best stylist Ive ever had!! I have had some thinning due to male pattern hair loss, but my hair has gotten so much thicker and fuller since Ive been seeing her and using the products she recommended. Weve been doing highlights now for the past year or so and she does a fantastic job -- lots of compliments. 100% recommend, especially for the guys out there.
