I had been receiving laser hair removal treatments for the last year at Sonterra Laser Med Spa. My technician/esthetician was really nice even though the front office staff could be rude at times. I came in for my last treatment during the first week in September. My technician increased the Joules of energy used for the treatment and I was severely burned. I called immediately when I got home and was told to return to get some after burn cream (I put cream on before I left the office). I went in two days later to get the cream and showed the technician my badly burned bikini area. She apologized and said I just needed to use the cream and it would heal up fine. Hopefully in time for a beach vacation later that month. The week before my trip, I called to see if I should come in for some sort of follow up. No one from the office EVER called me to see how I was healing or to follow up with me. I made an appointment with my technician because she said I could possibly receive another treatment that would even out the discolored areas of my skin. I came in for my appointment and all my scabs/blisters were completely healed. She looked at the area and said I couldnt receive any other treatments yet because more of the discolored areas needed to "peel off" and that I needed to keep using the cream. For the next two weeks, I used the cream as directed with no improvements. I was scheduled to come in for a dermabrasion appointment before my vacation but after some research, I decided that wasnt a good idea because 1--my skin looked the same as it did the last time I saw her and 2--you cant have any sun exposure on recently dermabraded skin. I cancelled the appointment with the esthetician and called another dermatologists office to get a second opinion. Thank goodness I did because, as I suspected, the burn cream would do nothing for my scarred skin and I needed to be on a bleaching regimen ASAP if I ever wanted my skin back. I understand that complications occur; I work in healthcare and its happened to me. My main issue with Sonterra Laser Med spa was how they handled my complications. I had to initiate all the follow ups myself. I should have been scheduled with the dermatologist and he should have followed up with me to treat the complications to my laser hair treatment. I feel sorry for my technician because I know she felt awful, but the situation really should have been handled differently. OH! I also called the office about two weeks ago to make an appointment with the esthetician because I wanted to let her know what was going on with me and that I was pursuing treatment elsewhere and the front office person put me on hold and then the call was ended...twice.

I would give zero stars if I could. I was there in early March 2014 for eMatrix. The entire experience was beyond terrible. First, I was instructed by the technician to remove half my makeup with a generic baby wipe. After the Visia picture thing we went to the treatment room where I was instructed to lie on the table to begin the treatment. I asked the gal if I should remove the rest of my makeup and she was like, "oh yeah!" So as an afterthought I was given a tiny cup of blue cleanser which for all I know was toilet bowl cleanser (it looked and smelled like it) I have no idea what it was. And I was given ONE tiny washcloth. (To wash or dry with? Who knows). Then I got on the table and the treatment began. The machine kept misfiring and making error sounds. After about 5 minutes the girl said she was at 40 pulses and I was doing good. Then less than 2 minutes after that she said she was done with all 200 pulses. I have a hard time believing I got the full 200 pulse treatment in less that 10 minutes. Especially with the machines error sounds. Oh, and thats not all. After the treatment I was sent to wait in the waiting room with other guests, my face all red and hot, to wait for a nurse to weigh me and check my blood pressure. The nurse was nice but the whole thing was just weird when I just wanted to leave and avoid the embarrassment of other people seeing me and my blotchy reddened face. I dont know if its because I was there for the discounted special that I was treated so poorly. I would have been better off flushing $300 down the toilet because the shoddy treatment yielded NO results and I all I got was embarrassment. I will never go there again! HORRIBLE!

The glut of 5 star reviews for this medspa are completely phony. They use the unethical practice of offering a discount for clients that post reviews. So let it be known, the majority of these reviews are not objective. They are only reviewing for a 10% discount on their next service. And social pressure of returning to the spa requires a 5-star. Would you 1 star your jet-pilot if you had to fly back with him? :) Anyways, I know this to be true because I received services here and had the discount offer extended to me if I did a review.. PROS: The spa was well decorated and clean. They used good B-tox and had me sign up to join the B-tox club. The nurse that did my B-tox injections was very nice and friendly. The B-Tox pricing per unit was good. Parking was convenient. Location was convenient and easy to find. CONS: The young ladies working the front desk were extremely disconnected from anything beyond their noses. They made me UN comfortable. I was not offered a water and did not receive any welcoming banter.. to say the least. The ipad used for checking in was broken. The operatory I was in was small. Other than B-tox, the services here are a bit overpriced and can be found for less elsewhere in stone oak. Like my 3 star review says. Its okay. :|

The front office staff were very polite. I bought a treatment that was to be done at Sonterra Laser Med Spa from Groupon. Gloria is absolutely unprofessional and rude. I would never recommend this spa for treatments done by Gloria. She behaved extremely childishly when I refused to have my picture taken. Never have I experienced a tech or I am sorry supposedly she is an RN behave in this manner. It was actually quite entertaining. Thank goodness Groupon is fantastic about giving out refunds to any of their customers who have to unfortunitely on occation be exposed to such unprofessionalism and not be able to use their groupon. I wonder if Gloria is aware of how many wonderful spas there are in this city. There are some wonderful spas out there and I would recommend to anyone not wanting to be treated horribly by Glorias unprofessionalism to get a refund from Groupon and put that money towards a fantastic job done by the other many Spas in San Antonio. In this case I believe that spending the extra few dollars would be well worth it.

Ive been to many spas over the years for various treatments including facials, laser, and Botox/Xeomin. Id been bouncing around from one to the next, never finding one that I cared to return to until I found Sonterra Laser Med Spa. First and foremost, EVERYONE there is so friendly and they make me feel welcomed from the moment I walk through the door. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Blake is amazing! She is the only person to ever leave my face with expression after Botox or Dysport injections. My wrinkles are gone, but my eyebrows still move to allow expression to come through. Until coming here I just thought that a "frozen" face was just part of the package when getting Botox. Ive also had the pleasure of getting a several other treatments IPL, hair removal and the vi peel. They are beyond relaxing and my skin glows! Between the knowledgeable, talented, and experienced staff, an inviting atmosphere, and friendly faces, Ive found my new spa to call "home."
