RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu in The Colony, Texas is an excellent place for people of all ages to gain both mental and physical strength. They are very family friendly while still offering plenty of options and activities for individuals as well. I initially signed up for a family membership, so my children could participate in a sport that would help them build self-confidence and learn self-defense and self-discipline. All of which they have gained substantially and are continuing to develop from attending RCJ Machado. The instructors at RCJ Machado have an innate ability to make every class fun, exciting and even playful for the children while providing instruction and maintaining structure and control of the class. With a family membership, which happens to be a bargain for families with 2 or more people who participate in the courses offered at RCJ Machado, I was able to participate in the adult classes at no additional cost. It didn’t take long for me to become hooked and find that practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a fun form of fitness training for cardio, muscle toning, strength, agility and weight loss. With the numerous courses for all skill levels offered at various times throughout the day Monday thru Saturday at RCJ Machado, it is easy to fit in training around our busy schedules (kids’ activities, adult’s work schedules, etc.). In fact, the highlight of my workday on Tuesdays and Thursdays is taking a mid-day break from work to go choke my friends at RCJ Machado. :) The staff of RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu has always made our family and friends feel welcome and their motto “Leave Your Ego at the Door”, which is posted on their wall, is portrayed in all aspects of their training and interaction with their students and clientele.

Excellent training environment. The curriculum is set by Jiu Jitsu Master Carlos Machado, who is known world wide for his ability to teach the "gentle art". The schools head instructor, Michael Madley, is a black belt under Mr. Machado and the only non-family member trusted to run an RCJ school. Mr. Madley is a gifted teacher, who specializes in breaking down the complexities of Jiu Jitsus techniques to make them easy to incorporate into your game. There are classes for Gi and No Gi BJJ. There are also Kickboxing/MMA classes run by instructor Evan Thompson. Even is a 2X world champion kickboxer and life long martial artist. Mr. Thompson runs a challenging, and diverse stand up program that is second to none. Both instructors participate in the kids classes here and are great at not just teaching techniques, but the discipline that will translate to your childs success in life. The training here is world class, but its the atmosphere that really sets the gym apart. There are no egos. No alpha males with their chest puffed out, trying to prove to everyone that they are the best. This is a group of people who like to laugh, have fun and train seriously. My whole family trains here, and we enjoy every session.

Our family LOVES Machado RCJ in The Colony. I looked around a lot for a dojo that had a specialized program just for kids, and I found the very best right here in The Colony! Mr. Thompson teaches the kids classes and he is superb. I have studied martial arts at many dojos across the country and even in Japan, and I think that Mr. Thompsons teaching and the way he relates to and inspires the kids is probably the best I have ever seen. My two sons, who are very different (one shy, one dare devil) both absolutely love jiujitsu - and the teachers and staff here. They are really growing and not only learning wonderful skills and values, but also fgetting antastic exercise! I want to try to kick boxing class myself when I can find the time! This place is great. I hope you can come by and check it out.

Mr. Thompson has a lifetime of martial arts experience. Kickboxing and mma titles. Yet, he is incredibly nice and thoughtful to his students and friends. Mr. Madeley also has a lifetime of martial arts experience. He can break down the jiu jitsu moves into the littlest details. And the little details make the BIGGEST difference. Every time I go to class I learn how to immediately APPLY the technique. They are courteous, respectful, and will make you better.

Ive been training with them for a couple of months. Coach Madeley is absolutely focussed on details while providing instruction. I still have problems with my English verbal communication skills but nevertheless Mr. Madeley tries to help it in as much as he can! It is the perfect place to improve your self-defense skills and your confidence as well. They honor martial arts budo giving sense to “Leave Your Ego at the Door”

I have been training at Machados in The Colony since it opened last year. The instructors have helped me develop my stand-up in MMA and my ground game in jiu jitsu. Michael Madeley and Evan Thompson (instructors) have been very patient with me, methodical with their curriculum, and understand how to give their students the individual instruction needed to improve their strategy, fitness, and self-confidence.

World class bjj, kickboxing, and wrestling. Michael madeley is a very technical Carlos Machado black belt. Coach Thompson, a champion kickboxer and Coach Marc has over 25 years of wrestling. The beauty is there are definitely no egos here. 25
