Ive been a member here for 11+ years and have made some dear friends along the way. Their friendship and bond is all that ties me here anymore. Im ashamed to call myself an Xcel member, yet these friendships are priceless so Im torn. Sadly, the owner, Nate Brown, showed his true colors when my disabled son (who had attended Xcel childcare for many years) needed to begin bringing his service dog with him to preform specific task work for my sons wellbeing. Nate let me know that his gym is not a public facility because clients pay monthly dues, so its private and he doesnt need to follow ADA laws in his private facility. He and his "lawyers" ignored my sons disability lawyers many attempts to comply with ADA law and even provide documentation or communication with my attorney. Nate made up one excuse after another and spread horrifying and untrue rumors about my little boy instead of just talking to me or my attorney. Im an open book!!! Nate told me no dogs were allowed in his facility. His clients would not be pleased with that. Oddly enough, I actually have incriminating photos of other service dogs inside this facility. Unfortunately Ive now just had to file a federal complaint of his discrimination against my disabled little boy whose second home is the hospital. Nate will not be happy when disciplined, but no one is above the law. A parent of a special needs child is a force not to be reckoned with. So I guess if you like grown "men" bullying and discriminating against little children and making them feel regected again and again, just like the childs peers do because he cant control the fact he wasnt born neorotypical, this gym is for you! Lets pray you dont end up disabled needing a wheelchair, cane or prosthetic, because you might mess up the flow of his empire. I did give them one star because a few of the staff are extemely cheerful and helpful.

Awful management. Also, many of these reviews seem illegitimate(its fishy that many of them were done around the exact same time...?). Just a few months back this gym was rated in the two star category. Anyway, if you try to get in contact with Nate, the owner, its like trying to contact the President or the mafia. You have to speak with at least three separate tiers of his staff before they even give you his email. Hes apparently "a very busy person" just like every one of us... I honored my 6 month contract and then tried to cancel at the end of the 6th month. However, they pulled a "got ya" and charged me $150 for a seventh month of unlimited Crossfit and pointed me to the contract I signed that mentioned you had to cancel 30 days prior to leaving the gym. I tried to reason with the staff and get my money back for the seventh month but they were very pushy about it. Had I known/remembered that 30 day cancellation part of the contract I would have cancelled well before that 30 day window. If you sign up at this gym make sure you remember this part of the contract because they are almost criminal about sticking it to you on this. The management just cares about getting your money and they treat you like cattle instead of humans. I did Crossfit at this gym. The programming was very average despite an excellent facility. They should really incorporate more diversity into their Crossfit programming. It became very repetitive so I left and went elsewhere. The nice facilities are the only reason this review gets 1 star instead of 0. Didnt expect to have this bad of an experience from a gym that seemed so promising on the surface.

My wife has been a member of Xcel fitness for over a year. Great equipment and facilities without a doubt. Then she became pregnant, and after a local gym opened up in our clubhouse just down the road, we decided it was time to cancel the membership for financial and convenience purposes. As we have experienced before, gym memberships can be time consuming and frustrating to cancel. They will sign you up anytime of the day or night, but cancellations are only accepted during select business hours, in person. Xcel, sadly, is no different. My wife and I both work full-time and do not want to take off work to cancel a membership. We called, and they would not work with us at all. Would not fax us a form, and stated that they would not even leave a form at the front desk for us to stop by and sign over the weekend. Finally we went in two days before my wife gave birth (this was the only time she had available), signed their form and paid for an additional month they decided to charge us, even though she hadnt gone and we requested cancellation nearly a month prior. We thought it was over, and now they are sending us letters saying we still owe for the next month, and that we owe a "facility maintenance fee" even after we cancelled and closed our account. May have great equipment, but practice all of the shady tactics many gyms are known for. Beware.

Worste gym. The billing office has been terrible to me. Never had such a bad experience, the billing office cares very little and has no customer serivce skills. I got a call that my payment didnt go through, I told them that I was out of the country and that I will make the payment but I was in need to cancel my account because I wouldnt be in the country and my understanding when I signed up was that I had to pay month to month and I could cancel whenever. They told me I had to come in but couldnt bring that I was out of the country . When I got back I thought they would be understanding but they were a nightmare telling me that I didnt cancel in 30 days that I would owe my month of June (which I understood) but that I needed to pay the July and August because I didnt cancel. I tried to explain that I was out of the country. The man mocked me and yelled at me on the phone. I told him I felt uncomfortable coming in because of how I was treated. I asked for the number and email of the head of billing to get things resolved. She never answered me back I called 3 time left voice mails, left notes for people to leave her to contact me and lastly emailed her. She ingnored all my attempts and sent it to collections. They have been very difficult and I will never go back to them again. I would never recommend this gym.

Depends on what youre looking for... If youre a lifter, this place is for you. There are more weights than I know what to do with and the facility is amazing. If youre not a lifter, its really expensive and I dont think you get what you pay for. I have the yoga membership which is $100 a month. Ive been to a LOT of yoga studios and for that price, the door should be locked at the beginning of class and people shouldnt be able to wander in and out at any time. Every class Ive been to so far someone has arrived 15-30 minutes late or left early and interrupted the class. Also, you can hear all the lifters weights slamming on the ground outside the classroom... Not the most zen. For $100 a month there arent a lot of classes either. There are a couple in the morning when most people work and then a 5:30 pm class but thats it for the evening. I wish there were more in the evening. The instructors have been amazing so far though. Kris, who teaches Yoga Mobility, is fantastic. I also tried to go to a cycling class but the instructor didnt show up... It was kind of frustrating because it was an 8 am Saturday morning class so I got up early for it. I really wish I had done a couple of classes and worked out there for a couple of days before I signed up for a membership.
