I find it interesting how this gym markets itself as the judgment free zone; yet its plastered all over the place that a "lunk" or "lunks" an idiotic; made up word coined my planet fitness describing someone who grunts, drops weights, or judges, are more or less not welcome and given the signage are probably feeling judged. This is a blatantly hypocritical statement given the gyms marketing tactic of being all inclusive. Also the idea of it being a no judgment zone is again a pretty stupid idea as everyone is constantly judging not only themselves but those around them, it doesnt take a "lunk" to judge. Also the gym sells the idea of not trying to mold anyone into a certain shape or body type, perhaps using a series of cogs as your gyms symbol was not the most intelligent choice. Maybe, I dont know using a planet given your name sake. Another thing I saw was everyone and I mean everyone wiping every single piece of equipment down after use regardless of the duration of usage, this is to me reminiscent of a group of hypochondriacs. Yes I know the gyms asks to whip things down after use, however planet fitness and anyone over whipping should be ashamed of themselves for contributing to deforestation. Sweat wont kill you, stop being being a germaphobe. With that aside, the gym does offer a small but decent amount of weight equipment although they should invest in free bench press and other free weights. About 80% of the gym is cardio, lets even it out a bit. The locker room facilities are nice, but it doesnt need a t.v. okay. And speaking of t.v. you really dont need thirty of them directly in front of the cardio section, dont Americans stupify themselves enough at home? And the staff are mostly teenagers and as a whole are mostly incompetent. It is also small and over crowded which contributes to their low ceiling level and the facility over heating. Overall its okay, but mostly crap.

DONT EVER SIGN A CONTRACT HERE! Just had the most absurd experience trying to cancel my membership even tho I waited it out the full term! I stopped working downtown a few months ago and live about an hour away so it didnt get to use the facilities for past 4 months... Since it was only a few months till my contract was over I just kept paying, either that or pay a $60 cancel fee. Finally after months of waiting I call to cancel and now they needed me to either come into the gym to cancel or get a "certified letter" sent in. UGH! And so the games start... I know they can do it right over the phone! I called twice before going down to bring in anything needed to cancel. Twice they said to just come in and they take care of it. So I make the hour drive down town and of course right away they have a problem and cant cancel without the $60 fee. My contract is over in two weeks, theyre pulling the last $10 fee in a week and yet they want me to wait two more weeks before coming back to cancel. I insist they stop the auto-renew. She says she cant without the fee. So I ask for a manager and she goes on the say no one is available, Im ignorant for insisting to stop the auto renew early and shes calling the building supervisor whose calling the cops since I wont leave. I resist leaving and demand a manger from corporate since the situation is getting ridiculous. She finally gets someone and resolves everything in a matter of minutes. Finally got the membership cancelled, no fee, last payment is next week and Im dont for life with this group! What could have taken mins to resolve amicably turned into a nightmare!

Black Member for almost a year. The Front desk staff have no customer service and act like they are just out of high school. The manager of the location is never in she is always out. The Motto of " No Judgment Zone " and "We want our members to feel comfortable in a non-intimidating atmosphere" does not apply with this location. Especially after the incident I had where I was trying to update my billing information and the guy had a attitude with me about changing my card. The other guy standing next to him kept mumbling and laughing loudly as he looked over at me and making snooty comments like " this isnt our problem". I felt Judged over this and uncomfortable by how I and therefore had to leave the location and was unable to work out because I was so offended at how I was treated by both of them. Each time I go in the front desk staff seem to have that arrogant and cocky attitude and I feel like I am Judged. When I visit Taylorsville and Millcreek the staff are always friendly and make me feel welcome. In my opinion this location needs new management or they need to do a better job at hiring people who value their mission statement.

The down town location is small and limited on equipment. The on location staff was helpful while signing the contract, but was a bit smug after that. Parking wasnt an issue because I actually lived down town at the time. After moving I called to cancel and was told to speak with a third party representative about my membership. The person I spoke to refused to cancel my card on file or my membership and told me that I would need to show up in person to the gym to cancel. After explaining that I had moved out of town and didnt have the ability to appear in person at the gym, I was told that I would need to send a certified written letter by mail to cancel. I asked if I would be able to fax the or email the written notice in order to save on time and money sending the certified mail. They refused and said it either had to be in person or by certified mail only. It is ridiculous that I cant cancel over the phone in the first place, and plain frustrating that I have to type up a letter, print it out, drive over to the post office and pay to have it sent certified mail just to cancel my GYM membership.

I am trying to figure out why these people have given such poor ratings to PF. I have been a member at this location for 3 years, and I love it! It is perfectly located to my office downtown, and I have never had any problems getting on a machine. It is clean and the staff are very helpful - with the free classes they offer to teach how to make the most out of your membership (how to use the machines, the weights, the 30 min circuit training room, core training room) you couldnt ask for a better value for your $$. They have helped me immensely - helping me to get over the overwhelming feeling of seeing all this equipment and not knowing really how to use any of it. And now I feel confident there. I get a great workout - and when I dont its because of MY failure, not the failure of the gym. I have NEVER had any issues with billing, and have always found their customer service to be top notch. I am just a regular person, who enjoys having the option of heading to the gym at lunch/after work. Take it from a long time member - this gym is just right!
