Normally i am not into this whole posting this review thing online. But i need to. So they closed the Fort Union location where i have been member since 2013. It was just couple of blocks from my house. I have several reasons to cancel the membership when they shut down Ft. Union location but wanted to give a try to this so called new and friendly gym on State St. Murray which is now almost 15 minutes drive each way from my house. I feel staff is so arrogant and not at all friendly. They call it a judgement free zone, but they are full of judgmental pricks and to some extent racist as well. They will randomly once in a while greet you or wont care to even look at you when you leave. Other gym at Ft. Union was so friendly, infact when it was a last day, i took pics of all the staff members and had tears in my eyes sad to see all of them go. Right on my 2nd day at this gym, while i was on treadmill running, this lady manager came out of no where, took my gym bag (which by the way is Planet Fitness bag) which was on the corner of the floor, picked up the bag without asking permission and then just started asking everyone whose bag is it? Luckily i saw it and told her it is my bag, she just hangs the bag on my machine and told me to not put it on the floor. I just ignored her. I am doing free ad by using their bag. Then on my 4th day at gym- this guy Anthony rudely very rudely stopped me on my way out and literally yells in front of other gym members "Two things- dont leave your bag on the floor and dont use your Ab Roller in this gym because of insurance related matter. " . So i ignore it at first and then i couldnt resist, so i asked him politely that what was the reason for him being so rude to a member who has been with you for 4 plus years and he says i know you have been here since 2013 (apparently he already looked at my information) and shows me a piece of paper with corporate policy . Then i told him that the lockers are filthy and hence i prefer to keep my bag with me. His immediate response - you need to let us know , so we can keep em clean. As if it is my job to tell him what part of gym they need to keep it clean. I should rather tell health inspector and have him tell it to the owner of the gym. Then i asked him, why shouldnt i use my abroller -mind you i have been using the same ab roller for 3 years in my other gym . His immediate response it is not my problem that other people in that gym are not doing their job. Seriously - how can you bad mouth your own team members and ruin the brand value of your gym. I told him that i have several other options that i could go to. But i wanted to give them a chance. I have few friends that i recommended to be a gym member of PF, but i not anymore. Very disappointing. Just because the gym is new and they think they will be on high demand is a bad bad assumption. That is how most of the business suffers by not caring for their loyal customers. Management should know about this incident and action it.

I highly suggest that people stay away from this gym. There is one particular employee that likes to harass customers who come into this gym late at night. Tonight I was literally one of maybe 3 people in the gym and about six feet from the "lobby" area speaking quietly on my phone. There wasnt anyone within 100 yards of me. The planet fitness employee came over and asked me to get off my phone. At first I looked around for cameras thinking I was being punked. Then I realized he was serious. I asked him if he could tell me the purpose of the rule. Which he could and did not. So I replied, "the rule is likely out of consideration For other customers. There is no one here and Im literally six feet from the "lobby" area." Since this was the second time in three nights I had been harassed by this same employee under similar circumstances I told him that I was "going to speak to the manager and complain." He left and then returned 15 minutes later and informed me that I could speak with the manager tomorrow but insisted that I get off my phone or I would need to leave the gym. I ended my call, looked at him and laughed and said, "are your serious? " Then said, "Im going to video tape this for your manager so they can see there is literally no one aound me and Im six feet from the lobby area and Im not bothering anyone" To which he replied and said or rather threatened "then Im going to call the police". I laughed and said "go aheadi havent done anything" and this was AFTER I hung up the phone because I think he suddenly realized how asinine he was Being. I will speak to the manager tomorrow and see how they handle this. I have never experienced anything so unbelievable. I do wished I had video taped the employee. It was so funny it would have been guaranteed to go viral.

This location as far as the physical gym is really nice and always very clean. The issue I have is part staff and part location. I have had a membership to planet fitness for close to 5 years now and have been to a few locations and as far as customer service goes this one falls beneath the others. There are one or two that are really friendly but the rest of them barely say hello when you walk in or goodbye when you walk out. There have been times that I have walked in and they didnt say a word, they just hold up the scanner to scan my phone or card and then turn back to their computer. The other locations I have been to in the past (Cottonwood heights and South Jordan) always greated me with a friendly hello and smile and usually say "have a great work out" or "have fun" something to let you know they appreciate your business. I am lucky if I get a "hello" at this location. My second issue, which is not necessarily this locations fault, is how busy it is. Geographically this is a great location. Very central and close to the freeway and other poplar businesses and with that it brings a lot of business which is understandable. However, since they closed their cottonwood heights location and all of our memberships were transferred to the murray location, this gym has almost become too populated. There have been several times that I have come and almost all the treadmills were being used and a good majority of machines already taken. I am not sure why they closed their cottonwood heights location but I feel it was a mistake. I think this gym has the potential to be a really great location, they just have a few things to work on as far as their staff and perhaps opening another location to the east again to help with relieving congestion at this location.
