I had an account with Golds Gym who changed to Vasa Fitness. I signed up for a month to month, no contract plan (thats what the window said on their gym). My card expired and they were not able to bill it. I had just started school and had no time for the gym anymore so I did not want to continue. I was contacted just after the card was declined by, I believe it was Paramount Acceptance, but it was a guy, saying that the card was expired and he was calling to update the card. I explained to him that I was starting school and I did not want to continue. I was not told of any policy to cancel at that time. I assumed everything was fine. I got a call 2 days ago from a collections agency saying that I owed $180 for 3-4 months of unpaid service and fees. I told them I canceled and was not happy. I called Vasa, and talked to someone who was not able to give any information. I asked for details on the charges that equaled the $180 and she said the collections agency was the ones that handled it as it was turned over to them. I asked to speak to a supervisor to which she told me there was not a supervisor available. I said I would hold and I was placed on hold for 45 min and then sent to a voicemail. I left a voicemail and still have not heard back from anyone. I called the collections company and asked them if I could get a break down of the charges since that is what the rep said I would have to do. They told me they do not have a breakdown and would have to put in a request to corporate which could take 30-60 days to get.. meanwhile I am being reported to the credit bureau. I first wanted a breakdown of the charges, and to speak to someone that could let me know a dispute process. I was basically told any dispute or charges would take up to 2 months to complete and I would still be penalized in that meantime. I was told on the phone they tried to "relentlessly" contact me. I admit that I use my phone for business and I get a LOT of unknown number phone calls. If I am called during the work day I do not answer my phone (agains my companies policy) but I do answer calls after work and I return voicemails. I have listened to any voicemail that was left by a number that is not in my phone and I do not have one voicemail from anyone from Vasa Fitness or Paramount Acceptance. I called back all messages that were vague and did not leave info on who they were, just numbers, most of them were solicitation, but none of them were either Vasa or Paramount. So the 1 time I talked to someone I told them I did not want to continue my MONTH TO MONTH (NO CONTRACT) account. If I got phone calls, I was not able to answer them, and no voicemails were ever left. I had NO idea that there was ever an issue or I would have taken care of it IMMEDIATELY! Not only should I have been told that I needed to do more to cancel when I informed them on the phone (even if it was a renewals/sales guy), but there was an obvious lack of letting me know there was an issue while they were charging me. Now I am faced with $180 for $30 of services (late fees seem a little steep to me), I am being reported to the credit bureau and I do not feel like Vasa Fitness or Paramount Acceptance handled the account correctly. I do not feel as though I should be responsible for this cost since it was their duty to cancel it when I told them I wanted to or let me know that I needed to do something else.

My husband and I started going to this gym last week. I was skeptical of the place, because I read all the reviews on here. However, I was amazed at finding just the opposite of what I read on here. There is a new GM, Dustin, who took us on a tour of the gym and signed us up. I believe he told me he became the GM in Oct 16. If the gym was as it is described in some of the reviews on here, then Dustin has done an amazing job turning it around. The gym is clean and there are plenty of cardio machines available and enough free space to do what you need to do. The team of trainers they have are always willing to help. It does get pretty busy and it sometimes smells like sweat in there (not bad... the air is crisp and its not gross, but if you have a sensitive nose, you might pick up on it), but there is not a lot to do about that when you have a bunch of people working out. If you are getting introduced to the gym, the sales team will try to push a hard sale of membership AND a personal trainer. I wasnt feeling it at first, because I dont want to put myself in a financial contract if Im not sure about it. But I figure if Im checking out a gym, I should be serious about getting in shape and its an investment in my health. Personal training is not cheap, but it IS affordable if you are serious about reaching your fitness goals. Still a bit skeptical about the personal training because of the finances, we signed up for sessions with a PT. I used to play sports in high school, so I didnt think I would really need a PT. However, after my first session, I recommend for EVERYONE, seasoned athlete or not, to try a few months with a trainer. In 30 minutes, I learned a lot about my own body and what I should be working out to strengthen my body. The head trainers name is Brian. Real sweet guy who knows his stuff. My favorite part about this gym is the membership. You pay month to month and same thing with a trainer or you can get a discounted rate on PT when you sign up for a a few months at a time. You can go to any VASA location with your membership. A lot of people have complained about the membership, but thats because they didnt read the fine print. If you cancel within 6 months, you have to pay a cancellation fee. Any time after that 6 months, you can cancel with no fee. Always read what you are signing up for. I would recommend this location to any of my friends or family. I am glad I made the decision to join and work with a PT toward my goals.

I am absolutely thrilled with the new and exciting changes VASA has implemented. Ive been going to the North Orem gym for over 7 years and I have to say that my personal voyagee to inner happiness has never been better. First, when you enter the gym you are greeted by a repulsive aroma of ass that has persisted for some years now. One would think that rather than spend several thousand dollars on a new facade at the front desk, that the immense ass smell should be addressed, but that would just be silly. What other scent could lift ones spirit to a state of divine bliss and enlightenment than the odor of ass?? Good call on that one. One frustration members of Golds Gym had to deal with constantly at the North Orem location was broken and missing equipment. Things would get fixed, but it was probably done by a specialist that lived in Peru and was only transported via horseback when called upon since aforementioned broken and missing equipment generally took several weeks or months to fix or replace. I was optimistic that such basic maintenance would be addressed by VASA, but alas, the gym currently has a calf raise machine that is going on 30 days out of service & out of the 12 benches used for bench and military press, 4 of the bars are missing. This causes member to experience a daily voyage to scour the gym for an opportunity to heist a bar from another location to use at their desired bench. But perhaps this is all by design...Maybe such frustration provides an opportunity for resilience and fortitude. Perhaps I should be thanking VASA for this lack of basic maintenance an even encourage more broken down machines and missing equipment. I can only imagine how courteous member would have to become if there were say 2 bars for 12 benches. I could go on about the deplorable condition of the free weights that are probably older than my grandma, the unsanitary conditions in the locker rooms, the walls in the tennis courts that look like they survived a blitzkrieg from the SS, the hardwood floor in the aerobic room that hasnt been re-surfaced since the gym was built, etc, etc. But perhaps I just need some clarification as to what VASA means by "inner happiness" Perhaps they mean "inner happiness" in spite of the deplorable conditions that still pervade and prevail. But hey, at least when I walk in the new front desk facade half distracts me from the bouquet of ass fragrance. VASA!!
