I am 40 yo and love staying fit. I moved here 3 months ago and decided to try a free pass at this Sandy Vasa. While waiting at the front desk I was troubled that I spent half my time trying to check in. The 2 girls at the front spent more time flirting with their coworkers, rather than help. When they did, the girl didnt smile and asked " what do you want". I smiled and said, to check in for a free trial. She took my pass and ID and put it on the counter behind her and went back to joking with her coworker. When she saw I was still there she asked "do you need anything else". I said I dont know anything about Vasa can you or someone tell me what is here or do I show myself around? She said you do it yourself and just excersize. So completely put off, I toured around and went to workout. After 2 hours I went to leave so I figured I should check out. Same girl when leaving saw me coming grabbed my ID and again, no smile and handed me my ID. I took it and still stood there smiling. She said "do you need something else" I just said no and left. I was ready to buy a membership! No way in hell I want to be at one more fitness center with snobby girls who treat you like dirt. So I went to another one across town and was given the royal treatment. I have been going for 4 months now. A friend asked me to go to her Vasa in Sandy again so she could try. Same problem 2 girls and some guy name Caesar talking away and giggling, we waited and waited, no one was at the counter but us. We asked about some class and the guy Caesar cut us off mid sentence to pay attention to a really young girl who walked up and the 2 girls just ignored us. A personal trainer saw this happen and she came and asked if she could answer our question. Very polite and sweet...no attitude. The worst thing about fitness centers is being judged or treated less than, if not young and beautiful.Sandy Vasa has them and they all work the frnt counter.I convinced my friend to go to mine and she loves it. Dont go to Vasa in Sandy ever if you want to be treated like less than the superstar you are for going to work out!

CAUTION IF YOU WORKOUT EARLY IN THE MORNING, AND YOU BRING A VISITOR! THERE IS A POSSIBILITY YOUR VISITORS LICENSE CAN BE STOLEN..... I really liked this gym, and I have no complaints in regards to the facility itself, But a couple weeks ago I brought a visiting partner to workout with me around 5:30am. The girl at the front desk asked for my vistors license to hold on too meanwhile we worked out. After we were done we went to the desk to pick it back up, and no one was there. We waited about 10min and nothing, which is upsetting, they should know people that workout in the mornings are usually in and out before they go to work. But that wasnt the worst part. I LOOKED DOWN, AND RIGHT THERE AT REACHING DISTANCE WAS A UNLOCKED BOX WITH EVERY VISITORS LICENSE AT DISPLAY WITH NO STAFF AROUND. I couldnt believe it, the only thing missing was a TakeOne sign! Is VASA serious?! Do they not have a protocol that when there is no one up front, peoples valuables especially something so delicate as a license, should be locked away?! We were in a rush, so I grabbed the box, looked for my partners license, grabbed it and left. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF I WAS AN IDENTITY THEFT CRIMINAL? How can a company be so irresponsible, so unprofessional, so careless!? How can they be so cheap, to not have at least 2 staff on duty to make sure the clients needs are always taken care of or to ensure safety. Thank Goodness I am not a criminal, but i can see a really bad turnout in the future if they keep like this. VASA really needs to reassess there way of doing things. Other Gyms have more advanced ways of doing things like taking pictures of reoccurring visitors and looking them up by phone#. Im never bringing another visitor, and Vasa just lost a potential member.

Every Vasa fitness sucks. I tried to work here as a trainer but their system for hiring trainers is bullshit. They make you go through a "internship" which they make you work (no pay) for 20 hours a week. They dont even promise youll be hired after. Needless to say I quit the internship. Since then, I work out at the Van winkle vasa because its so close to me but both gyms (sandy and van Winkle) are awful. Theyre disgustingly dirty beyond belief, equipment always broken etc. I pay for a membership with guests privileges but every time I take a guest they hassle them to buy a membership. They make them sign a form every single time. When I was at Golds gym, they would save your guest info on the computer so you didnt have to do it every time (and would NEVER hassle your guests to buy a membership). One time they went so far as to have my guest sit down with a sales person saying "its so much faster this way, let me just fill out your info for you." Bullshit. Its all a passive way to try and sell your guests you bring a membership. When I was doing their "internship" to be a trainer, the general manager told us that we should treat everyone how we would want our mother to be treated. Well they obviously dont instate that very well with the staff. I would never send my mother there. He also said that "in 5-10 years I promise the vasa name will be up there with Golds gym, planet fitness etc". They have QUITE a long way to go if they want that to happen. Moral of the story, they have a LOT to work on here; Im thinking about canceling and going to 24 hour fitness.

This gym is well equipped and has a very nice layout. But its filthy and has poor customer service. The staff does not extend their customer service beyond greeting you as you arrive and thanking you for coming as you leave, unless you are thinking of joining. Ex: While working out in the cardio cinema the staff turned off the screen but not the sound without warning or notice, so everyone in there just thought the projector was having issues again. After about 20 min of this problem I decided to call it a day and found myself in a dark empty gym. The staff didnt even both to check if anyone was still around. When I told the guy hanging out behind the counter that there were still folks in there that might not realize that they are closing, he just answered like I and the others were an annoyance. Heres a thought make an announcement over the a speaker system. But the worst quality this gym has is that it is filthy. I have not once seen anyone clean the facilities. Im pretty sure the showers are actually growing something from neglect. On one occasion I came in and noticed a large powder spill on the locker room floor about 1x3 ft. At the end of my 6 hours at the gym the spill had not been touched. It doesnt seem unreasonable to expect the place to be tidied up a bit throughout the day. There are some lockers that I avoid, knowing that they are too dirty to use or have gum and other substances stuffed in them making them sticky. I really want to like this gym but its got to make some changes by being cleaner and more friendly.
