I came into Fedex, 2241 Eisenhower Ave Alexandria VA, 22314 on December 19, 2016 to ship 3 packages. I have been using Fedex for years to ship Christmas packages to another Fedex store located in Rochester, NY. The gentleman that helped me was George. I personally packed each box with shipping paper and bubble wrap. I ensured that each box was packed tight with no movement. I was told by George that in order to insure these packages he would have to repack each box. I informed George that each box was packed tightly, in perfect boxes and that there was no need to repack. I even explained to George the contents of each box. The boxes contained Christmas gift boxes that were already wrapped. George insisted that he had to repack each box. I told George that I did not want to pay for more boxes when I had perfectly good boxes. Further, it would be a waste of his time as the store was busy and he was the only associate. George insisted. Even after he opened one box and could see the shipping paper and bubble wrap that I used to pack the box. So, my problem was that Box 1 of the three boxes he did not repack. Box 2 of the three boxes he simply placed into a larger 20x20 box and filled with shipping paper and bubble wrap. Box 3 of 3 he decided to open and repack. He placed the contents into another large 20x20 box because he said he did not have a smaller box. Moreover, I had to wait for 20 minutes as he slowly unpacked the box and repacked. My problem with this is 1.) If the policy is that all boxes must be packed by Fedex to insure then he should have repacked them all. 2.) He charged me for 2 boxes 20x20 which totaled $45.98 which was unnecessary. My brown boxes were in perfect condition. Further, everything could have fit into one 20X20 box. I have pictures which show that minus all of the packing that he used the items barely filled 1/3 of the box. In this scenario, even if it was Fedex policy, George himself failed to adhere to the policy by not repacking all of the boxes. You cant tell me what the policy is then not abide by that policy. Secondly, he charged me for boxes that I did not need. This is unacceptable and Fedex needs to train their employees better. I understand its business but dont charge customers for items that they do not need to make more money.

same review as others...waited for a knock at the door that never came (also have 2 dogs who will bark at any noise, be it a knock or doorbell ring)...went to grab some lunch only to find a door tag stuck on my door saying they had tried to deliver it 30 mins prior. Nice. The delivery guy must have had to actually "try" to keep quiet in order for myself nor my two dogs to hear a knock or doorbell. Next, I tried to go pick up my package but Fedex claimed that the shipper prohbited me from picking up the package, and also blocked me from lifting the signature authorization and/or to just leave it on my doorstep - called my shipper and they explained that Fedex was the one being difficult and that theyve had similar issues with Fedex before...needless to say, after 2 more missed attempts, my package was sent back to the shipper - they are in the process of resending it back to me - hopefully this doesnt happen this time around, but Im not getting my hopes up. I just want my merchandise!! Fedex is HORRIBLE.

Terrible delivery service. Will absolutely not leave a package on my doorstep because I live in a condo, even if I sign for it (I have absolutely no problem with UPS doing this, they are great). So I called FedEx to arrange to have my delivery delivered after 8PM. Got an email message saying my delivery was attempted during the afternoon and was not completed, called FedEx again, they said the person I talked to the day before had given me wrong information about guaranteeing delivery that evening. Told that to go ahead and return my package (I will be sure to leave feedback on Amazon on this, and I WILL NOT pay for any shippnig, you can bet on that!!). Hopefully the seller can re-ship it to me via UPS (who again, have not problem with leaving it on the front stoop if I sign for it, and have NEVER had anything stolen from my doorstep). Dunno if this is a local Alexandria VA FedEx problem or a system-wide FedEx problem, but I gotta tell you, they are HORRIBLE.

Do not EVER use Fedex again unless you dont care if your package never gets delivered. I am utterly appalled. Found a package that seemed to be a document at my front door this morning addressed to someone else at a different address. It says overnight urgent. I emailed Fedex customer support this morning and talked to the customer service via Chat, and no one seemed to care that their customer paid an overnight urgent service expecting their document to be delivered today. So I called Fedex in Alexandria (Eisenhower Ave) just now to see if they could pick it up from my house and deliver it. They told (not ask) me to drop it off at a Fedex location, and I told them unfortunately I am busy and wont have time to do that and I was worried for whoever was expecting their urgent document to be delivered. The guy said, "ok just destroy it" and hung up on me. W-O-W. I certainly will not use Fedex especially for important documents.

Wow....ditto on everything said below and then some. Expecting a government credit card in order to travel - home all day - upstairs with DOOR OPEN - came down to see a sticky note on the door left just 10 minutes earlier. Yes, I too have a dog who would have barked if there was even an attempt at a knock. Now I have to go to the Eisenhower office to deal with picking up this package - and too late to pay for the plane tickets today. Also, spent over an hour on the phone trying to reach anyone - the 800 number would not contact the dispatcher to turn the truck around, even though he was just there. I dont see how they are still in business. Awful business model. But I guess if youre a semi-monopoly, like cable, they dont have to work that hard. I am beyond livid. For what good it will do, I plan on writing a formal complaint to the CEO. I see this is a trend from all the listed comments.

This is only Poor-Fair, because God-awful isnt an option. I ordered a package last Thursday via 3-day shipping because I needed the package this evening. The package arrived at this sort facility Monday at 7:12am. It has been labeled "not due for delivery" for the past two days (Mon/Tues), and is scheduled to be delivered late afternoon Wednesday. There is no direct number to contact the facility. I called the FedEx hotline, and spoke to a person who says that I cannot pick up the package, despite the fact that it is 20 minutes from my house, because it has not been sorted yet. Apparently it takes 2 full business days (its now 4:00 on Tuesday) to sort a package at this place, and they will not deliver it in the timeframe I paid extra for. I will not be using FedEx again if I ever have the option.
