Unfortunately, I got the worst haircut of my life here in April. Im just now writing the review because I could deal with the bad cut, but she ruined my hair with thinning sheers that I didnt notice until my hair started growing out in the last month or so. Now I can barely straighten my hair without it looking terrible. I have long, thick hair with a basic V cut. I went and saw a young girl and explained I just wanted a small trim, and no changes to my cut. Well, she cut my hair straight across without asking cutting off my V cut. As a result, I lost a lot of length and layers in the back. I didnt realize this until she turned me around at the end. Not to mention with my thick hair, a straight across cut doesnt look good! The ends are super blunt and just look too thick, not blended well at all. And if that wasnt enough, she doesnt know how to use thinning sheers at all and completely ruined my hair. She thinned way too much and didnt know what she was doing. I now have short wispy hairs (that make my hair full of fly aways) of all varying lengths starting at the top of my head all the way to almost my ends. Ive never in my life had this and my haircare regimen hasnt changed. This I didnt notice until my hair started growing out a little and upon research realize this is what its from. Now I have to wait until my hair grows out, which will take probably a year or more given how long my hair is. So disappointed! Maybe she is good with very basic, thin hair, but she failed with long and thick hair. I wont be going back.

New to the Alexandria area, I have been consistently impressed with the high-quality array of services offered at Frizzles. From the professional haircuts to the luxurious spa pedicure and meticulous and comfortable individually tailored waxing, Frizzles has become a one-stop-shop for this busy, on-the-go teacher. I value convenience and style, which is exactly what this salon provides. Their diverse staff offer both fun and trendy and classic styles, consulting with clients to meet their individual needs (by the way, Sami is a color guru). They also make keen recommendations and obviously care a lot about customer service and satisfaction. The whole staff is welcoming and responsive to guest needs, and the space is relaxing, modern, and upbeat. They use and offer top-of-the-line products I can count on, too. I always feel well-attended to, confident, and happy when I leave. For the exceptional quality and track-record of exceeding expectations, I feel that my money is well-spent... especially since an unspoken service is therapy, too! I cant talk highly enough, and am so glad I found my new "ahhhhhhhhh" place :)

Went in for a balayage and a trim. I have naturally dark brown hair, but have been blonde in the past. Wanted to get my hair to a point where I could try out a rose gold balayage but know that it may take a few visits to get there. However, the stylist took me from dark brown/faded colour to icy blonde in one sitting. Completely over processed my hair and then proceeded to brush it out and blow dry it for 25 minutes. I have curly hair, my hair is completely ruined now. Wanted to get my layers back in my hair so that my curls/waves sat nicely. My hair was one length in the back. So not only was my hair ruined, I also didnt get the haircut that I asked for. I spent a ridiculous amount of money to have to shell out even more money to try and fix it (between deep conditioners and paying for Olaplex and an actual haircut at another salon). I will never return to this salon and hope that my experience will warn others who may be looking for similar services. VERY unhappy. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

I have found my new salon!! I called the salon and asked the receptionist who she would recommend for me to get a reddish color and long layers. She gave me a few suggestions but recommended that I go on their website and check out the link with all the stylist bios, pictures, prices and instagram links. I finally chose my stylist and called back for an appointment. Of course I chose a stylist who had a long wait for an appointment. I spoke with the manager and she looked through the schedule and found me an appointment. I saw my stylist yesterday and she was amazing!!! I got a dark red/auburn color and long pretty layers. Im so happy with the results. The price is reasonable for Old Town. After all you pay for what you get. I used to be cheap about my hair but I paid the price for it. Now, I think its worth it, if I can pay less than $200 for a color and cut like this, Im all in. The parking isnt too bad. Remember you cant tip on your credit card, so bring cash, or they have an ATM. Check it out ladies :)

Absolutely awful! do not go here... I went in looking for natural blonde highlights, she instructed me that it would take 1-2 sessions inorder to achieve the level of brightness I wanted.. I said that was fine. She procedded to leave me under the heat lamp (which wasnt even on!!!) for over an hour! Then she washed it out, the color was nice, but my hair was seriously burnt! It had random tuffs of breakage around the back and sides of my face! I came back for a second appointment hoping it would be better, but she immediately asked me, "What happened? Why is your hair burnt and breaking?" HMM I wonder!!??? Please do not go here! Its been over a year, and after crying countless hours, having to chop my hair off significantly, my hair is still not 100%. Please do not waste your money here! Your hair will thank you for it!

When you move to a new area, we all know the hard part about finding a hair stylist that gets you and your needs. And then I found Frizzles Old Town, thanks to the suggestion of a friend. The reception staff, including management is welcoming and friendly and Ruby is the greatest! She is funky, fun and downright fabulous! She makes you feel comfortable while in her chair and always has great suggestions if you are looking for something different. One of the things I love the most is that she explains in "non hairdresser" terms what she is doing, why she is doing it and how you can do it on your own. I can honestly say I have not been this excited with a hair cut in a long time. I definitely struck gold by finding Frizzles!!

I went to Frizzles for the first time and I will be a repeat customer. I was new to the area and scouted around for salons, and chose Frizzles because I had walked past the salon a few times (and their website was very user-friendly). The website also has bios about each of the stylists, which is how I found Joanne. I was looking for something new, trendy, and bold- and thats just what I got! I loved the experience and could not be happier with my cut and color. I took a picture to Joanne and she knew exactly what would look good on me and made it happen. Ive gotten so many compliments on my new hair style. Frizzles makes it very easy because you can book online. You definitely want to go here!
