I recently moved to Charlottesville from Utah. My hair and I have been at odds ever since then. I found Vanessa at Bristles and my hair and I have now found peace again. From my initial call to the salon to walking out after my hair cut, I could not have asked for a better and more pleasurable experience. When I called for an appointment they worked around my schedule and made sure to set my appointment up with a stylist that could handle long, thick, curly hair. Their location is easy to find and convenient. Vanessa, my hair’s new best friend, met me at the front desk and then sat down with me and talked about what I wanted. After my amazing, wash, cut, and style I felt great. The front desk was friendly and gave me a nice gift bag for my first visit. I am so happy I found Bristles!

I wish I could post a picture of what was done to my hair, and the picture I showed of what I wanted. It was the most disappointing experience of my entire life! At the end I thought that it was poorly done, because it was just the trial run and they would not charge the same price it would be charged for my weeding day, but I was so wrong. They charged me full price for a hairdo that I could not even go out for dinner with my husband when I got home. Sent an e-mail complaining and with the pictures, and instead of giving me a refund or inviting me to go back, Katya Cole just replied: "We are sorry you were not happy with the result. Good luck on your wedding day". And I drove 100 miles, 2:30 hours each way, paid 225 dollars for the most heartbroken experience of my life.

I love Bristles! I am so sad to be moving away from the area. I would love to pack Maya on the moving truck with me to Ohio! Maya always listens to what I want and really takes her time in completing my look. I get all over color and my hair cut by her on a regular basis. Its hard for me to say which she does better, color or cut! I never feel that I am being rushed out of the salon for the next appointment and the front desk staff is fabulous to work with! Be sure to ask for Maya when you call :)

LOVE that place! I graduated from UVA a few years ago, and *always* got my hair cut there. I no longer live in the area since graduating, but still occasionally come up with visit friends. When I do - Im sure to drop in and get a haircut. Ive never really found anyplace since that cut my hair quite like how I like they do. And everybody is always so cool when I go in...I miss not being able to go all the time.

Its a very nice upscale salon. However, I came out with blondish-orange roots (I asked for a golden brown all over color) and a cut that I already had. I asked for layers in my hair but was told I shouldnt and my hair was cut in the same exact shape it already was. I couldve done a better dye job myself by buying haircolor at CVS for $8 instead of paying an enormous amount of money here for worse quality.

I have definitely made the rounds of Cville salons searching for the best experience and Bristles is my new favorite! The service is excellent, and I came away with the best (and most affordable) haircut Ive had in years. The experience was relaxed and comfortable, with none of the pretentiousness Ive encountered at other local salons. Looks like Ive finally found my place!

I wouldnt go anywhere else. The staff is courteous and attentive. The atmosphere relaxing. Coloring my hair is not the easiest thing to do, its very long and other places always make it too dark. Cece makes it look beautiful every time. I leave Bristles feeling like a million bucks. People always ask me about my hair and brows. I tell them "go to Bristles."

Vanessa Evans did my hair and makeup for my wedding on May 7th. She did the most amazing, gorgeous hairstyle (high bump with a sweet side braid) and my makeup was friggin flawless. I received compliments all night from friends and family. You could tell Vanessa is a perfectionist and cares about the details. Thank you so much for making my day so special!

My first time at this salon (my third try in the area), and I was a bit nervous. They were very welcoming and professional and DEE did a fantastic job on my color, cut and blow dry! I thought the price was comparable to the other salons, and will definitely go back to Bristles and Dee!

I tried Bristles after I got a gift certificate, and I really liked my stylist and the other services offered there. I have been seeing the same stylist there now for nearly four years, and I also have been using the eyebrow services as well. They do a nice job overall.

Very nice staff. Great results. It is pricey--check how much your service is before you make an appointment. It may be worth knowing you are going to get a good result though. I will definitely go back when I want to splurge.

Beware. Gave a friend a haircut that was far shorter than the picture presented due to stylist not paying attention. Despite an apology from the salon after clearly seeing their mistake, they still charged for the haircut.
