I advise all perspective to customers to not use Michael & Son. The level of professionalism is horrendous. Case in point. I scheduled this company to do a routine checkup of my ac. Tech was scheduled to come out on Saturday between 12-4. I took off from work, waited 5 1/2 hours and tech never showed although I did receive a call saying he was running late from the cust. rep.. However, they could not tell me how much longer it would be. As such, I rescheduled for Sunday for the window of 8-12 and was told I was first out. Sunday morning, 8 am I received a phone from cust. rep. saying the tech had worked until 4 in the morning, was tired and would have to reschedule. For the third time, I rescheduled for another Saturday, 8-12 am slot, was told I was first out and took off from work . 12:30 pm and no tech, again received phone call saying he was running behind. That day I called rep. and complained, told them I refused to reschedule and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told they do not work on weekends but she would create a correspondence and the sup. would call me. Five days went by and no call from Sup. I called and was told the Dept. Mgr. would call me. "George" the Dept. Mgr called me and said he had tried to call but had "dialed the wrong number." I told him of the situation and how I was going to respond to said sit. George in the beginning asked If we could fix things as well as asking at the end if anything could be done to fix things. I responded "no." George at no time apologized, never empathized, never acknowledged the problem, never assumed responsibility on behalf of the company, and never even offered to investigate the situation in the hopes that this would not occur in the future to another client. Perhaps management should take a lesson from their cust. phone reps on appropriate and professional responses.Additionally, this company seems to schedule/over book scheduling given that with the scheduling of the last appt. I was told by the rep, that there were multiple opening slots and she could even fit me in for the following morning if I wanted. Yet they are so busy that they do not come out when scheduled.

We had purchased an old house (built 1954-56) a few months prior and initially noticed a funny smell (which subsided when the air was off). We also noticed that there were NO filters in the return air vents (which had been painted over multiple times). I started to consider duct cleaning service, and upon successfully removing the return cover--I asked my wife to "call them. call them now." She did a GREAT amount of research on various companies, pricing, nature of service, etc.--and chose Michael & Son. We were fairly impressed from the beginning with their scheduling service due to the evident willingness, ownership, and responsibility through communication. Further, when my wife came home to the duct cleaning mid-process she was overwhelmed with gratitude for the attitude and precision service of our techs (Andy and David--great job!). They shared (with photos) that the ducts in our home were the worst theyd ever seen. They diligently worked to get the job done over the course of a significant number of hours. They were cordial, kind, respectful, informative, helpful, skilled--and ultimately successful at cleaning our worst-theyd-ever-seen ducts. We already notice the difference. Massive kudos and praises to Andy and David and Michael and Son Hampton Roads/Norfolk. I expressed to our techs that I had noticed there wasnt an air duct cleaning review on the Norfolk page...and that they could count on a raving one now! Michael & Son is beyond reliable and impressive for air duct cleaning--with so much confusing information out there--I am delighted to say it was beyond worth it (and the least expensive price I could find for the caliber of service + a coupon!). Further, when our furnace did not come back on--Michael and Son promptly responded to ensure it was not due to anything related to their great duct cleaning service. THANK YOU ANDY AND DAVID (and Scott Andrews, other David, and HVAC Manager George for phenomenal service and a phone call just to ensure everything was okay)!!! Overall, thank you Michael & Son!

I ordered a new energy efficient heat pump from Michael and Son on December 4th and arranged for the installation to be done on December 7th. I received a call from Marcus, one of the installation team, early that Saturday morning letting me know what time to expect them. When the team (Marcus and Randy) arrived, they didn’t mind taking the time to get to know our dogs once I explained that it would be so much easier for all of us after the dogs got to know them a little. I even slipped a few dog treats to Randy, which the dogs eagerly accepted from him along with a lot of petting and ear scratching. After the introductions were over, I put up gates to keep the dogs out of their way so they could work without interruptions. They covered the entire work area from the front door to the attic access in the hallway with drop cloths. Both Marcus and Randy were very quick to respond to any questions we had while they were working. After the installation was completed, Marcus thoroughly explained how to set the new thermostat and gave me the manual for the thermostat for future reference. Randy asked my husband to come into the attic with him so he could show him the furnace and explain some things about the drainage. Marcus asked us if it would be alright to leave the manual for the furnace on top of the unit in the attic so it would be there for the technician just in case there’s ever a problem with the unit. We agreed that it would be best to do that. Marcus and Randy were very polite and professional at all times. They both worked hard for several hours to get the entire system installed. The weather that day was rather dreary but thankfully it wasn’t raining since there was quite a bit of work outside the house as well. I have to say that I’m glad I chose Michael and Son because everything went smoothly. It’s been two weeks since the installation and everything is working perfectly. Kudos go out to Marcus and Randy for making this a very pleasant experience.

My heating went out on a Saturday night. I filled out a service request online, and received a phone call about 10 minutes later. I was impressed! I scheduled a visit from 1000-1400 the next day, Sunday. The first technician that came out, Greg, was absolutely awesome. He saw that he couldnt fix the problem, since I have a system that is specialized, and he called another technician to come out from 1200-1600. The next technician came out, and priced the part that was damaged, and said that I should have it fixed by Monday, and if the weather was too much, then on Tuesday. He also said that he would call me. This is when things started to go wrong. I received no phone call, on either day. I called him twice, and was unable to leave a voicemail, because his mailbox was full. I called the office Wednesday morning, at 1015. I was told that someone from the parts warehouse would give me a call back to schedule the install service. No one called. I called the office back at 1730, and of course the warehouse closed at 1700. I was told by the agent that I should call back at 0700, even though he was going to put an emergency call marker on my file. I called this morning at 0703, to insure that someone was going to be in, and finally was able to schedule an install from 1000-1400. The person I spoke with, didnt have any other information to tell me, other than the parts warehouse said they didnt have the part, but when someone actually went over to check, the part was there and waiting. The technician I had this morning, was awesome, and I have heat again, just in time for some more record cold temperatures. I appreciate the personnel that were polite and helpful, but I will never use them for anything else, unless absolutely necessary.
