Our general contractor used Duct-Rite as a sub for installing a new central HVAC system. I havent written many reviews but after our experience with them feel obligated to warn others about what to expect if you do business with this company. Everyone makes mistakes, but the sheer number and severity of the mistakes in this project suggest systematic problems with this company. A few examples: while cutting for ductwork they literally daylighted through an exterior wall (instead of going into the attic); they cut a vent up through the floor and came out under the sofa (requiring patching and refinishing the entire living room floor with us vacating for 3 days); a return duct in the attic was left with an opening that I could fit my hand into and which would have sucked attic air/insulation into the system (only fixed because I crawled into the attic and found it, and still had to raise the issue with 4 different people). There was little/no effort to contain the mess from cutting through the floors into the basement. Nothing in the basement was covered up. Sections of the floor were cut out with all the sawdust and debris left to fall wherever. An asbestos heat shield was left lying around (after us repeatedly being assured they knew how to properly handle it). Some mess is inevitable with this kind of thing. But if they were doing the work in their own house theres no way they would have taken as little care as they did. It was quite disrespectful. We were initially told the entire project would take 3-5 days. Later this turned into 2 weeks. In the end, it was over 5 weeks from start to finish. There were multiple days of us being told they would show up at a certain time and then not following through. Almost every time there was no communication with us until after the fact. On top of these things, other issues seem almost trivial, but here they are anyways: crooked registers, registers jammed too tightly into holes that had to be recut (by me), a cut and bubbled floor in the bathroom ("fixed" cutting a bigger hole and adding a bigger register), a gouged baseboard. After raising these issues with the owner and requesting a discount, we were offered their "entire profit" on our project, which amounted to less than 10%. While better than nothing, if the company cant take a loss on something like this, it still suggests a customer-last attitude.

We have used Duct Rite for various projects over the year. We are very pleased with the staff--from the first phone call, to the estimate, to the service. The service technicians are prompt, courteous and very helpful and the owner has gone above and beyond to help and check on the projects. I also want to commend Duct Rite on their support of the local community, particularly the support of Youth Sports associated with the Parks and Recreation program. Local youth sports rely heavily on donations and team sponsorships and Duct Rite has consistently stepped up and supported various programs. I highly recommend people using this wonderful, locally owned business.
