Weve been here a few times, and each time has been excellent. The restaurant is small, maybe 10-12 tables, and I absolutely love the decor. The walls are painted a bright blue, and the wallpaper on the back wall is absolutely gorgeous. The service is great. Our most recent experience had three different people checking in on us and bringing us things. They were attentive, without being pushy. And while we didnt need help with the menu, I heard one of the young ladies giving a complete run down on the menu ti the table behind us. The food is excellent, and the best Indian food Ive experienced in Hampton Roads. We always enjoy the vegetable samosas or the vegetable pakora, and the complimentary papad & chutney trio. My usual order at any Indian restaurant is the Chicken Tikka Masala. The first time we were here, I ordered it, but liked my husbands dish better. Its good, but I think there is just more cream than Im used too. Luckily, my husband like it better than his own dish, so we swapped. Now, he orders the CTM, and I order the Chicken Jalfrezy. This is so good. Huge chunks of super tender chicken, huge chunks of vegetables, and a spicier, less creamy sauce. And of course we always order a basket of Naan to share.

I really cant say enough good about this place. Firstly, its very small so get there early to get a seat. Not uncommon to wait 20 minutes for a table, but very worth it. Menu is Indian and they also have a Nepalese menu that is unique and worth a glance. The Momo dumplings are great as an appetizer, entree, or (the best way) as a soup! The Indian fare is delicious. Flavors seem to pop in your mouth more so than some of the other Indian restaurants. Their dal makhani is a must try if you like a vegetarian option. I would also recommend a cup of the chai masala and the rice pudding, its what hits the spot after a meal. Finally, I cant say enough good things about the wait staff. They are always friendly and remember a face which makes it a great member of the peninsula community.

My wife and I Visited this very friendly place just the first week of March 2015. We ordered Nepali Thali one with mutton and the other with vegetable. Great choice to share with you are two or more because you will have both meat and vegetable. Dont order if you do not have patience to wait because Thali needs to be cooked for you. In other words, it is not a "fast food" but really good food. The sweet for the Thali was just great. I think This is the new better place for us to eat Indian (and Nepali) food. I love when the food (Yes again have patience to come in 30 minutes) came, it was explained about every part of Thali to us, what they were. Very sweet people and yet very professional. Felt at home and would love to go back.

This is a cool new spot. Havent tried their Indian or Fusion dishes yet, I went for a Nepalese dish as thats unique to here. The service was prompt and the food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Chili Momo was my meal. We will be back. Update: visit 2 and I got the Aago mix grill. Excellent dish. Lovely sautéed type veggies with a generous portion of 3 kinds of chicken, shrimp, salmon, and lamb and a special sauce that I considered similar to korma. This was closer to an Indian style dish and I found it very pleasing. Update 3: Been back several times and the food and service is always excellent. Do yourself a favor and try Aago.

Tonight was my third time getting take out here. I get the same dish all the time. Lamb Vindaloo. The first two times were excellent. If I had to criticize the first two times got the dish l would say.... they could have use a little more Lamb and less Potato. Tonight I ordered the same Lamb Vindaloo and it was about 80% sauce and very little Lamb with way more potatoes than Lamb and very salty. Very Disappointed !! I dont know if they got a new cook or not but I wasnt pleased at all. I can say the people there are always real nice and the food comes out very quickly but not consistent.

I do not write online reviews often, but for this restaurant, I felt that I should. I have been to many Indian restaurants all over the USA, and by far this is definitely on my Top 5 list. Amazing food and variety. The place is small and you might have to wait. However, the wait is worth it. While rating Indian restaurants, another thing I care about it is consistency. I am positively surprised that Aago is consistently good and the excellent quality of the food is maintained since I have been visiting Aago (since July 2015).

Excellent in one word. Pan fried tibetan momo (chicken dumplings) are awesome. Chicken in hot chilli garlic sauce (aka chilli chicken) is a must try out, if you can endure the heat of Indian spices. The taste and flavors are very uniquely distinct unlike the other indian dishes mixed in thick gravy ( bland curry sauce with whip cream). Over all its very authentic if you want to indulge in exclusive noth east indian cuisine which is different from usual north indian cuisine. It has a lot of nepalese and sub himalayan influence.

My daughter (16) and I come here often. When we want to go out to eat...Aago is the first place we bring up. Consistently delicious and never disappointing. Their Masala and Korma are fantastic. The avocado and quinoa salad was a really surprisingly good dish. I dislike quinoa and my daughter dislikes avocado, but we LOVE this dish. We have had quite a variety of foods on the menu and have yet to say "meh" to anything. Chili Momo....more more please! A+

Awesome service, food is always delicious. I was stationed in VA during the summer and are here often. Whenever I visit Newport News, I make sure that Aago Indian & Nepalese Restaurant is in the plans. Food is always served very hot and the servers are friendly and polite. Friends that Ive brought to Aago are impressed with the cuisine and price. Aago is definitely the place to try whether you live in the area or just visiting.

Aago is SO good! The Chicken Korma is very fresh and delicious! For lunch, you get an appetizer, soup/salad, entree, and dessert for as little as $9. With prices for a decent lunch going up everyday, this is an awesome deal in my opinion! The service is stellar too! They are so polite and will answer any questions you have regarding the cuisine honestly and intelligently. Im looking forward to trying them out for dinner.

I was a unhappy about the wait for a take out order-40 minutes. I had tried to find their menu online so I could order beforehand but the website didnt appear to be working. I ordered the spicy chicken and should have asked for white meat - the quality of the meat was not the greatest. The spice level, however, was fantastic and it was more than enough food for two people!!! The staff was friendly.

A great variety of food from which to choose, and all of which is delicious! Quaint atmosphere with friendly service and food youll tell your friends about. Bring an adventurous pallet, because unlike some other regional gate, Indian food offers a variety of flavors, textures, and spiciness for any foodie. Get the Masala Tea! (And dont forget the naan!)
