This place was horrible. The manager, Reggie, definitely had a hard time keeping his temper to a minimum. I came in for a VA inpsection (because my usual car place was busy) and was thinking with a name like Speedy I could have this done quickly. I waited in the waiting room with no coffee, no TV, and a couple magazines from 1998 until someone finally started calling my phone TWO hours later (despite the fact I was sitting just three feet away from them). They proceeded to give me a long list of what I needed to have done to pass inspection, with the final total cost being over $300. I had just gotten my car serviced a month ago so I found this very high, but I needed my car to pass inspection so I agreed. About TEN minutes later, I spoke to my mom who said there was no way I needed $300 to make my year 2000 car in good shape pass inspection. I quickly asked Reggie to please stop work on the car so that I could get it checked someone else. Reggie got very upset, saying "NO, YOU NEED THE ROTORS--YOURS ARE RUSTY" and said the mechanic had already taken the car completely apart in those 10 minutes. He said he could put the car back the way it was, but would still charge me the $60 labor fee. Not wanting to give this awful place anymore money for no reason, I asked them to please ONLY do what was necessary to pass inspection (how they decided to add on $150 more of uncessary items was beyond me). When speaking to the mechanic one on one, he admitted that I did not need new rotors to pass inspection. After spending four hours and well over $200 at Speedys for my VA car inspection I was finally able to leave. I wish I had waited in line at the car place I like down the street. It would have undoubtedly been a shorter wait, and I would have saved at least $100 and gotten honest, reliable service. When I got home and mentioned to my roommate where I had gone, she looked me in the eye and said "Dont EVER go to Speedy-- They sold me a dead car battery."

Dont go here. I have taken my car here a few times and Im sad to write never again because its close to my place of work. Last week I took my Volvo here because it was making a horrible noise at low speed. They told me the control arms needed to be replaced as well as two tires and charged me almost $1,100. After I picked the car up it was still making the noise. I returned it and they made an adjustment and told me it was fixed. It was still making the noise as I demonstrated to the mechanic. Finally they said I needed a CV joint and wanted to charge me almost $400 or so more. There was no interest in refunding me for unnecessary work. I had lost faith in Speedy by this point and took it somewhere else. I’m glad I did. I took my car to Dellingers in Chesapeake. As soon as he heard the noise, the mechanic told me Speedy’s diagnosis was incorrect and the issue was engine related. Dellingers said the noise was caused by broken engine bearings and charged me about $500 for the fix. The noise has now gone. So I spent about $800 needlessly and have no money to buy Christmas presents for my kids - thanks for nothing Speedy.

Crooks. Charged $89 for an oil change. Oil change 29.99 basic, 42.99 mid, 49.99 best on a big sign behind the counter. When asked which type of oil I responded Castrol 5W-20. He said all we had was mobil 1 and pointed to a bottle on the counter. Okay no problem. I come back to my car after they called and told me it was ready and find its still on the ramp. When I go to pay I am informed that it is $89. At no point was the price ever disclaimed to be different than on the sign. He tells me I pointed at the bottle. A closer look reveals $79.95 scribbled in black sharpie next to the black print on a gray mobil 1 bottle. All 3 other customers in the shop were dumbfounded and could not read it either.

Been a loyal speedy customer for four years. Went in the other day for a simple auto service. The manager (Mitch) pulls out a bill from four years ago and says I owe him money. Says he did the bill wrong, 4 years ago, and that I have been a bad character ever since. I replied that I have been giving Speedy steady business for four years and this "accounting" issue was never presented. Mitch replied that he was away for the last four years. I began to reply when Mitch blew his top and cut me off. He screamed that I was a bad character and that I was banned from the property and that I would be prosecuted for trespassing, if I ever returned. I left the site wondering what the hell just happened.

I had an inspection at a different place where they tried hard to scam me. Then I had it looked at by another place in the area which was maybe okay but gave me a bad vibe so I decided to keep calling around. I called Speedys and found it was less expensive, faster to get me in and have the work done, and nicer service. I went there after that one more time for a minor issue and they did a nice job quickly at a reasonable price. Overall, I feel pretty good about them and I will keep going back.

Left car at Speedy on W 21st Street at 7.30am to have oil and oil filter changed and also the air filter changed and front brake pads replaced, car ready 4 and a half hours later and charged $298.00 in total, which included $109.00 for brake pads which cost $35.00 from autosave, avoid at all costs, also tried to advise me to have rotars replaced, but car inspected at main dealers 4 weeks previously and this was not mentioned.

We took our car n for an oil change and not only did it take several hours even though we were first in line at 8AM, but they charged us an outrageous amount of money to patch a nail hole in one of our tires. We told them we would no longer take our business to them. Despite trying to find a decent local shop here in Ghent we have yet again paid for sub par service at this location.

Honest car workshop. When they discovered an unexpected problem with the car during an oil change, they called before attempting to fix it. When I came back to the store to pick up my car, it turned out they didnt need to do the fix. Other places might do the unexpected repair without asking, or do it even if it turns out to be unnecessary.

I got exactly what I paid for - oil change, tire rotation, and air filter for $55 - and had no issues with the staff/service. I was not oversold on b.s. parts/services and they pointed out a couple things on my truck that could be fixed now or at a later date. I would have given them five stars if they had quicker service.

I went there to install a new exhaust system to my car, they expent 2 hours working on it so I went to get some food. When I came back they told me that they could not install my new exhaust and they put my old one back on and charged me 75$ for that. Took the same exhaust to another shop and it was ready in 45 minutes.
