I had membership at the Roanoke Athletic Club and I enjoyed being a member there though it seemed like everybody was super serious about working out and it seemed like people got dressed up to work out there. The YMCA is much more laid back and family atmosphere. Not to say its just for kids and parents, its very geared towards people of all ages, teens, young adults, middle-age adults, senior citizens you see them all working out there. You also have a great program called Fitlinxx that tracks your fitness progress and is a great motivator. And also I had some financial hardships and the YMCA has a program called Everyone Deserves a Y that was geared to helping me pay for the YMCA. The facility is super clean and has many machines, rarely ever do I have to wait for a machine. If I ever join a gym in the future I hope its one as good as the YMCA.

Poorly run facility. Weight room is just okay. Some improvements have been made by the acquisition of a few additional weight racks. The facility is usually over crowded. Basketball courts are taken by by activities not related to basketball over half the time. This is very irritating. The basketball courts should NEVER be taken up by activities like little kids birthday parties with blow up houses and volleyball. Basketball courts should be used for basketball. Sundays the facility is only open from 1PM to 5PM. What is that? Overall I would recommend a different gym

I have been a member for 10 years. It was a disappointment when the "Y" discontiued the towels for the members. Totally understandable. It wouldnt have been such a issue if my husband wasnt handicapped. It a struggle dealing two gym bags, one for his belonging and needs and towels in the other one.This was the one reason why we joined the Kirk family. My husband works out in the pool. The upstairs is where I spend my time, l love it. Tumbs up !!!!

Ive been a member since 2011 and have always enjoyed the amenities. The sauna is a great way to finish my work out, I can bring guests throughout the year, and the selection of group exercises classes rotates so I can always find time to get into a class I enjoy. I recently started to work for the YMCA a few months ago and the Staff has all been so welcoming and helpful, feels like a family :)

Used to be perfect!! Theyve made cut backs including not providing towels and cutting cleaning staff. Locker rooms are filthy. Hot tub out of order often. If we find r use of YMCA facilities when we travel, we would go to another gym. Fix it Y! Ill re-review.

Friendly staff there. The lifeguards are very nice when it comes to telling the kids to not run. The gym staff are always willing to spot you if needed and encourage you. They have great classes there and the instructors cater to everyone there.

Towel service, plastic bags available, friendly staff, hot tub, family changing room, steam room and sauna, child watch and high speed internet are just some of the things that make this place much greater than a gym!

Great gym experience. Staff is super, equipment is plentiful and always clean, pools are great for laps. Ive been a member at most gyms in the area (Golds, RAC) and the Kirk YMCA is hands down my favorite.

I love it here!!!! Polite staff, clean equipments and pools. The sauna is AMAZING!!!! And the child care watch is perfect for moms and dads looking for a quick workout.

All I do is classes but the staff is awesome. The Y is everybodys gym, and thats why I love it. Great service, great community, great instruction.

Staff are very nice and helpful. Summer camps should give lunches for kids. But besides that its very nice and I will recommend this place.

Lap pool is good. Lots of free weights and equipment in the gym. Crowd is pleasant.
