I have been going to Virginia Tire and Auto for many years (so have my sister and brother-in-law), and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. These scathing reviews below baffle me, as my experiences always have been positive, and they have earned my trust. On the surface level, they have a reliable shuttle to and from the metro (and I believe anywhere within a certain X-mile radius), they have a nice bathroom, and they have a comfortable waiting area. Further on the surface level, they always call me after diagnosing but before actually fixing anything. Also, there have been times when I have done a comparison study for issues with my car, and their prices are highly competitive. Also they have been able to fix issues other places have not (this was when I was shopping around for a shop). To demonstrate their integrity, I will discuss my recent interaction with them. I brought my car in for an oil leak (and for an issue with my catalytic converter, but Ill focus on the oil leak). They determined that I needed a new gasket for my oil-pan, and they also said I might need a new rear gasket. However, the oil-pan gasket would cost much less, and they werent positive that I needed a new rear gasket. Therefore, they recommended that I go with the cheaper of the two options, and if that didnt solve the problem then I should come back and fix the rear gasket (which is a much more involved process). After doing my own research, it sounded like they saved me about $1,000 by recommending not to do the rear gasket yet. So far, Ive had no issues after just fixing the oil-pan gasket. This is example #1 of their integrity. On to example #2 during this same interaction: When I came to pick up my car (it had been there for a few days because I couldnt get out there due to schedule constraints), Gabe, the manager, immediately found his way to me. He informed me that my window had been left cracked open overnight, and it had rained that day. He did not know about it until he pulled my car around for me. Before I paid for my services, he made sure I knew about this issue. He said that he did the best he could in the matter of minutes he knew about it and wanted to make sure I knew about it before getting in the car. Ok - I was annoyed that my window had been left open, but those things happen. They shouldnt, but they do - at any auto shop or any place that involves car service. I got to my car and found that my two atlases in my back seat were soaked and ruined. I brought them inside, and Gabe immediately came over, took them from me, and told me to buy new ones, give him the receipt, and hed reimburse me. Then I drove my car home. After twenty minutes of driving my butt was soaked. I tried to vacuum out the water and get rid of the smell, but I couldnt. I called Gabe to let him know, and he told me that if I brought in my car theyd take care of the issue. I brought my car in the next morning, and when I returned later that day my car was dry, smelled normal (actually it smelled nice), and they had also put mildew-killer in there. On top of that, they offered me a free oil-change as an apology. Gabe made sure I was happy and continuously apologized. Yes, I was annoyed that I had to deal with that, but they 100% maintained their integrity throughout the process. I hope I dont need to see them again anytime soon, but when the need arises, Ill be heading back to them.

I had been going to this place for a few years and recommended it to several people... Sadly Im not sure if the management changed or its become too popular but Ive noticed the service has gone down hill fast in the past year. Ive been patient with some new hiccups but this last issue will be my last since I dont want to deal with this company anymore. I had a safety inspection done and was told my brakes needed replacing but when the guy called the main garage next door they were too busy that day to take me. Ok Ill come back another time. Called a few weeks later and once again they were booked up but the nice lady on the phone said she could schedule me in two weeks later so I said I would drop my car off the night before and they could have it done anytime before Monday. She also said she would make a note for me in my file about it being the front brakes to replace and an oil change. Two weeks later I drop my car off late Friday evening and write in the notes "break replacement and oil change". Saturday I hadnt heard from them by around mid-day so I give them a call. After some confusion about what car was mine and what break changes are you doing? He finally found my information... From what he said they hadnt gotten to my car yet but theyll get to it right away and was there a reason I needed my brakes inspected? .... so I explain the lady on the phone should have put notes in about my car and the brakes needed to be replaced because their own safety guy said so. Oh OK. Said he would look for the notes and give me a ring when its done. OK. Guy calls back. Said there are two notes but nothing about break replacement. They never knew about the break placement. Whoever took the notes that morning from the key drop said break inspection which they can do right now if I wanted. No. I want break replacement as Ive explained which should be in the notes the lady said she would take or should be in my file online if they actually keep history on their clients cars... so he puts me on hold for a while then informs me that they dont have time to do my break replacement but he can make a scheduled appointment for Monday if I would like.. So I told him replace the oil and forget about the brakes. When it was all done I will give them credit they knew not to try to charge me for anything but the oil change. This was beyond frustrating.. Made appointment with another service after that.

I thought I would get similar service at the Springfield VA Tire and Auto in comparison to my normal location in South Riding. The service in SPRINGFIELD is terrible and fraudulent. I dropped my car off at 8AM for a oil change and tire rotation. There was only one person waiting for service at the time. I specifically asked the service provider at the desk to have the tech look to see if the brake fluid would need to be replaced. My normal VA Tire and Auto recommended I have the brake fluid replaced since it was dirty with my last visit. I requested them to call me if they recommended replacing it. I left the store without hearing an update two hours later. I called the store to check on my car at 10 AM. The person I spoke with on the phone proceeded to give me the run around and told me it would take two more hours (for an oil change and tire rotation). They also made no note of the request about checking the brake fluid and had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, I called back at 12 to check on the status of the car. I was then updated that my car was finished (Never had to call at my normal VA Tire and Auto Location). The person I spoke with on the phone then told me my CV boot was torn and provided me a quote for over $400 to get it fixed. He claimed this was normal wear and tear. However, I get regular service on my car and always informed my car was in great shape prior. But now all of a sudden when I go to a new location something is is wrong and requires expensive maintenance. On the 25 point inspection form, they said the brake fluid was fine. But my normal location said it was dirty. Why this inconsistency? In conclusion, do not go to SPRINGFIELD location for the following reasons: 1. Complete disregard for customers time 2.Does not listen to direction and rude to customers 3. FRAUDULENT SERVICE Im planning on talking with the corporate office on Monday morning. For the record, I am okay with the franchise, but this location has very poor operations.
