Yes, Julep is more expensive than the other nail salons in Gig Harbor. I purchased a membership and so the prices are not bad. In my opinion, Julep is well worth the extra money. If you compare them to the other cheaper salons in town... the experience is apples and oranges. I dont necessarily enjoy spending more money for my mani/pedis... but I have to say that I never enjoyed having my nails done while the technicians chattered and giggled away in a foreign language. It makes you feel like like an idiot sitting there while they completely ignore you. Even when they speak perfect english... it is very isolating to have people speak a different language while you sit there for an hour. The Seinfeld episode hit the nail on the head with their play on the experience. Julep uses sterile instruments, sterile bowls for the foot soak and... they give you a little goodie bad to take home that includes the nail file, callus scrubber, cuticle stick and even the bottle of nail polish they used on you. So you know they are not reusing the same instruments on numerous clients... which you know goes on at the cheaper salons... especially that horrible cheese grater they use on everyones feet. Try Kelly for manis or pedis... she is awesome!! And Kaylee for a facial that you will not soon forget. It is amazing!! It is not just a facial... she does your face, your décolletage, your hands, arms and feet. It is worth every penny... and then some!!

I have been to the Gig Harbor Julep twice now, both times for a pedicure. While I appreciate the fact that theyre committed to green and clean service, I did not appreciate their customer service. The first time, I called to scheduled a pedicure, and they assumed I meant the $80 one! I had no idea, so when I went to the counter to pay, I was SHOCKED. They also did not inform me that they charge extra for French tips. LUCKILY (or not!), when the employee was buffing my feet, she CUT my toe, so I got my first pedicure comped. But, I still had an injured toe. The only reason I went back was becaue I still had a giftcard. I was offered tea, and it never came. For $50 they didnt do anything special. I had my feet soaking in the plastic basin for MAYBE 2 minutes, and then they whisked it away. They said they didnt have time to do French tips, even though I was willing to pay. It just was NOT a special experience. Its cold, and the overall atmosphere is not at all like a spa. Id much rather go to a nail salon where they may not speak perfect English, but I can get MUCH better service for HALF the price. RIDICULOUS!

Julep gets my vote for best place to receive a pedicure in Gig Harbor. Makenzie did an excellent job on the Porch Pedicure and I would give her six stars if I could. She took her time and Ifelt totally relaxed and never rushed. This pedicure included a leg massage which was both relaxing and releived my sore calf muscles. At the end of my massage I was sent home with a foot care package. Heather, the front desk clerk explained to me Julep is very santitary concious and uses Autoclave, the same sanitisor dentists use. She also explained the polishes Julep uses are 100% organic and dont have the harsh chemicals other polishes have so theres no strong odor lingering in the parlor. I would recommend Julep for someone wanting to pamper themselves and totally enjoy a pedicure experience.

DONT GO HERE for their advertised toddler time. The location is NOT SAFE for toddlers! The back area, which contains toxic materials, is not secured. In addition, they advertise: Bring the kids along to ... investigate our overflowing toy box and listen to Julep’s resident story reader. Our childcare professional will supervise your children while you enjoy the pampering you deserve. TOTALLY FALSE!!! I arrived and asked who was going to supervise my daughter. They said the receptionist would - if she had a free moment. No toys, no books, no supervision. We walked out. This place is a scam.

I have no idea what the bad reviewers are talking about… they could be people that are never satisfied with anything and never will be … an awfully sad way to go through life. That being said, the experience I had was wonderful from start to finish. The staff treated me with the utmost respect and dignity. I am a diabetic man and really appreciate the autoclaved tools and fresh supplies, that alone is worth the extra money. I sprung for the $80 dollar pedicure and was very happy with the results…heck the cold beer was kinda nice. I plan to return today.

Love the products. Service usually good, but expensive. I always got pedicures. Last time I went, the technician spent the entire time telling me how much she hated her job. I was getting the second manicure I had ever had in my life to attend my dads funeral. Now I go to a place that is half the price and has massage chairs and massage your feet, legs, wax dipping etc.

Best nail products but the worse customer service. Ive been there twice And each time the service has been terrible. The nail technicians are more interested in complaining to each other than providing any type of attention to the customer. Its to bad, the products are just the best and the concept could be a real differentiator for the brand.
