I have been complaining about the state of the bikes used for spin classes for over a year. They are dangerously ill-maintained. The clips are too loose, the resistance is too weak, the resistance is too much, one bike literally doesnt have a seat, etc. Its a miracle someone hasnt gotten a broken leg from clipping out of their bike during a track and getting a bike pedal smashed in to their shin at full speed. Maybe someone will actually break their leg and sue? Perhaps they will get fixed then? Its too bad because the group fitness instructors are really the best you can find in Olympia. And the Les Mills instructors are really the only reason why people even bother showing up for classes. But honestly, there have been a dozen people in the last few months who have gone to Thrive or the Valley because of the growing frustration with the bikes and the group fitness schedule. Seems like management doesnt give an eff about the people who actually show up to classes and are putting classes on the schedule no one ever asked for or attends for that matter to give their friends a job, changing instructors to be spiteful, or replacing classes that have been happening and successful for years with such "friend favor" classes. Management seems to believe theyre doing this under the radar and their members dont know whats going on. But surprise! Were not idiots. We can connect the dots, and we see right through it!! Many have decided to talk with their wallets and leave the gym after feeling ignored and mistreated by LUFC- some after being members for many years. There are many others who are about to follow. I rated this gym 5 stars 4 years ago and am changing my rating to a 1. Ive been a member for 4 years without interruption, and this is the worst I have ever seen this gym.

I joined because of the location and I liked the classes at first. They kept changing the classes around and sometimes the instructor would not show. On top of that I overheard instructors and coordinators talking negatively about other instructors. I overlooked it for a bit...I knew I had a whole year contract to make it through, so I tried. In the meantime my partner (who was also on my membership) tore his achilles and had surgery. We provided medical forms to cancel his membership. By law we could break his membership. They kept charging me the full amount. Finally it was a month and a half away from the full year contract to expire so I went in (more then 30 days notice) to end our membership. I got a receipt from LUFC saying the last date of my contract and debit from my account. Well that day came and they still withdrew the full 2 family membership amount. I called the gym. The manager did not call me back. I went in the next day in person and no manager or owner was available. I waited 5 business days and still no returned call. I disputed that amount only with my bank. Finally 2 weeks later Ivy FINALLY called me and told me everything was taken care of. Well they sent me to collections!!! So I provided the collections department with my end of contract receipt and my partners medical forms and they still came after us!!! I will be filing with the Attorney Generals office as well as BBB. I gave them a chance to make it right and provided proper papers that they requested. No decent gym would ever do this. Oh and I am not the only person this has happened to there are 2 other people I know. Its too bad, I really strive to support small business in the community. Lesson learned.

Do not sign a contract for any gym who uses National Fitness. Look them up online. I was a member originally at Sound Body Fitness, and I was automatically converted over to LUFC when the location changed. I had changed banks at one point, and failed to update my credit card information. Well one day when there was issue with my account, I call to resolve it and I had at that point somehow owed hundreds of dollars! Were talking the same day I learned there was an issue. National Fitness is absolutely insufferable. They talk down to you, harass you, hang up on you when you ask for a superior, etc. I tried getting in contact with LUFC multiple times regarding these issues. With many failed attempts at receiving a return phone call, I gave up. They obviously werent too concerned about this horrible experience I was having. I enjoyed the facilities. However, National Fitness is absolutely a RIPOFF company and they are the ones behind the contract you sign at LUFC. I am now at Thrive Community Fitness contract-free for $19.95 a month and I couldnt be happier.

This gym is great. I havent done any of the classes, I prefer to make up my own workouts. And there is plenty of space to do so. There are two free-weight areas and tons of machines. The place has never been crowded and I usually go at peak hours (5-6PM). I never have to wait on a machine or a bench because if one is taken, there are usually 3 more that are not being used. Price is comparable to other gyms in the area and you get free tanning. Much better than LA Fitness, which I drive by everyday and have yet to see a time when the parking lot wasnt full. They offer a free trial which is a few days or so. Just sign and lift....or do whatever you do, haha. At least go try it out....I knew after the first day that it was the gym for me. Now I just need a good spotter.....

Horrible customer service. There is no correlation between your contract and when you actually last went to the gym. My husband and I just figured out that a charge that looked like utilities was actually the gym charging over $60 a month for a membership neither of us has used in almost 2 years at least. They auto renewed our contract with no notification to us and when I called, they had my email and phone number listed correctly! Because somewhere in the contract it states that "after one year it auto renews" they refuse to refund the money they have been getting from us! This is just shady business and I will never be using a gym service that is backed by National Fitness.

I never had a problem with this place until I moved and tried to cancel my membership. So, I moved at the beginning of August to Seattle and notified them via email (that was provided by the front desk) at the beginning of July I was moving and I was needed to cancel my membership. But they never canceled my membership and I got charged the next month. I keep calling and they just tell me they will make a note in my file for the customer service person to call me back. In the email I sent over I attached the first page of my lease agreement. Andddd still nothing.....I would like my money back.... And for better customer service....

Among having great classes and everything I need for a efficient work out, the part that matters to me the most is that they have great childcare. I cant work out if I am worrying about my kids- but the staff especially Chrystal is great with them and every time I peek in, or take them home they are smiling and happy. The gym is very clean, the locker rooms are nice and the sauna is wonderful. I have no complaints whatsoever! The body-pump class is my favorite, Victoria and Melanie do a great job and I give that class the credit for helping me in the final push to pass a physical fitness test I had to take recently!
