I had a terrible experience with this business. I went in for a full cooling system service. About 3 weeks later, I took the car in to have them check it out before going on a 3000 mile trip. They told me the radiator was leaking and I would need a new one ($600 range). I asked why they didnt notice anything might be wrong when they did the cooling system service, and they didnt give me an answer, other than "the cold weather might have cracked it" (it hadnt even gotten below freezing yet). So, I paid for a new radiator. Then during my trip, in the middle of North Dakota when the wind chill was -22, I had no heat in my car, so I waited for a day to find a home-mechanic on New Years Day to take a look at the car. When he opened the hood he just laughed, and it got worse as he looked around. J & H had gotten "silicone-happy" and there was blue gunk everywhere to seal the radiator. This guy removed all of that for me and put a better seal on. Then he said that they had just stuck the same old temperature gauge (and something else that was important, but as I dont know much about cars I forgot the name), which was rusty and not functioning, back into the vehicle when they did the cooling system service. So essentially, the faulty gauge allowed the radiator to crack. They MADE my radiator break (whether on purpose or through negligence) and then charged me for a new one. This mechanic also found an oil leak on the bottom of the car that if left unfixed could have broken at any moment and released all the oil from my engine (killing it). And I wonder why J & H wouldnt notice this when doing a "full check" of the car before a trip? I wonder if they really looked at my car much at all. I really hope this review will help people not make the same mistake I did. I also asked J&H to put on some splash guards/mud flaps. They installed the rear mudflaps IN FRONT of the rear tires. Do they not even know what mud flaps are for? The mud/water/rocks arent going to spray FORWARD. As if that wasnt bad enough, three out of four of the flaps fell off within six months. I cant believe anyone takes their car here.

Having to give one star pains me. It is far, far too generous. More than a month without my car. A month of "we cant figure out what the problem is", "weve ordered a part", "its still not working right", "we think were done." "You can pick it up after hours" (except its locked up in the back), "Weve fixed it but theres still a ticking noise." FInally, after three weeks, John agreed to lend us his minivan. After several days, still waiting, the check engine light came on and a few miles later the engine started smoking. They towed the vehicle. Today I was greeted with massive berating from John for "blowing up his van," telling me my wife is a F***ing B***h pissing and whining, followed by a long string of F words. He then told me I could pick the car up and he wouldnt charge me. I went to pick it up tonight. It showed the exact same symptoms (shuddering and struggling for the first two minutes and a check-engine light that came back on after 30 seconds) that it went in for in the first place. I have doubts they actually did anything during that month. If they did, they are even more incompetent than I take them for. I would not let them touch a tricycle, let alone my car.

I had them work on my car twice. The first time they decided to do repairs without consulting me for authorization when I specifically asked them to call me before doing the repairs. The second time they held my car for 4 days and didnt work on it--no one called me, and every time I reached out to them I could never get a straight answer about the status of my vehicle. I was told they could look at it the day I dropped it off, but after 4 days nothing had been taken care of. When i called on Day 1, they said they needed more time to diagnose the problem. When I called at the end of day 2, they said the mechanic was sick that day (but no one gave me a courtesy call to inform me--and how do you only have 1 mechanic on staff?). On Day 3 I was told they couldnt answer my questions because "the lobby is full so we cant talk right now", and so on day 4, asked for the keys, and took it to a different mechanic. Perhaps their work might be acceptable, but the way they treat their customers was not. I will not be returning or referring anyone to their business.

I took my Toyota in for an oil leak. John called me and said he had to replace my valve cover gasket. He charged me $153 for the gasket change and an oil change. I checked out my car the next day, and it was still leaking oil really bad, from the same place! It wasnt the valve cover gasket like they said, and my oil change is being wasted all over my driveway right now. I called him to get a credit at least for the oil change, but he said no and just bring it back in. I told him Im not going to waste any more money on services that dont do anything to fix my car and that Id never bring my car back there. How could he not have seen the oil still leaking? Super obvious. Lazy mechanics. Total a-hole on the phone and rude as hell. $153 down the drain and I have to bring the car somewhere else to get it fixed now. Dont trust these guys. Oh yeah, and they broke a clip on the wiring harness when taking off the valve cover. No replacement.

I have two vehicles and I have been here several times. This is the first mechanic who was not intimidated by our high performance vehicle. The shop does just as well our nothing stock performance vehicle as with a total stock straightforward vehicle. I am always very happy leaving my car and picking it back up. Finally a mechanic we trust and who is honest with us. I am a known repeat customer and recently drove by with what I thought was a small concern. Turns out it was not, but they fit me in and made by time constraints work. They did their best work as always and got the car done by the end of business. Im more satisfied. Yes it sucks to be without your vehicle for a few hours, or a half a day but I much rather come here than another local shop because his estimates never change, the prices are much fairer than others and they remember the history of your vehicle.

I was here alone with two kids while my husband deployed in 08 and had taken my car in to a place closer to where I live. This other place ripped me off even though I had a warranty and treated me like a stupid woman. I know a tad about cars and regardless know when your warranty only requires 100 copay you shouldn't pay 235 for some idiots personal joy. This brings me to j and h. Next tine I tried j and h just in an oil change coupon. Jon (awesome guy) told me after I needed a rear brake job BUT he also showed his honesty by showing me while the car was lifted. Its guys like this that can make the soldiers rest at ease knowing their families are SAFE on the road. He did a reasonably priced brake job, has inspected used trucks for me before I bought and has been great. Go there!
