Would like to share what I experienced in Sammamish YMCA from the YMCA employee and how we all get locked out in the building. On august 22nd, after "we are closing" announcement, we went to the second floor to the main entrance/exit door. Big clock on the wall showed 10pm sharp. Few people also followed us toward entrance/exit door. When we came to the front desk, here was one man (Ill update his name later). When this man saw several people coming toward the entrance, he hurried up and run away from the front desk and from all the people. Later I find out why : this man locked the main entrance/exit door. We cant open it. We cant exit. Locked out in the building. So, we were forced to stand there all together (group around 10 people). Me and another person tried to follow this man, who locked us out, but another man (YMCA client) stopped us. He told us that this man doing it often and he will find an excuse to do not open the exit door and he will open it when he pleases. That was very strange... Dont you think? Other people were asking the cleaning people, who walked around, to open the door for them... We all got locked in the building... I remembered that I saw another door that was unlocked ( people were leaving through this door). So, I went there. Three people were standing outside this door, so we went through this door. When we came to the parking lot, the YMCA employee man, who locked everybody in the building was running after us and screaming in anger: "Next time I make you to talk to an executive !" I understand, that this man trying to make treats to us - it was clear. What I dont understand, is that: - If you dont like people - there is many other jobs when you can go. You dont lock people up in the building and make people play the game "Find me if you can". - Its unacceptable to exercise your power hungry attitude toward people, using your official position - We found unreasonable and unacceptable when he makes threats in anger to people, because they left through another door. Can you imagine, for example, if you get locked out this way in any other institution on closing time? Any other gym, bank, restaurant, library, Safeway, Fred Meyer etc? When the closing announcement takes place, usually people can leave, but nobody allowed to come in. Did you ever get locked out this way? Hope not. Hope YMCA will figure out who was this man on the evening, August 22nd and take appropriate measures, so people wont get locked out in the building in the future. Thank you in advance for reading this and hope it will never happens to you!

Before I go onto my rant, I want to say that this is a beautiful perfect facility for everyone, and MOST of the people working there are very nice and respectful. We are a family of six, recent members and are still adjusting to the YMCA schedule. My boys and I start out each time playing basketball to warm up before we hit the weights. It just happen that the 3 gyms were all reserved that evening, two for volleyball and one for aerobics. But one gym for volleyball was not being used and a lot of us (over 12 people) who wanted to play basketball. I went up to front desk and spoke to a very nice young man, Heysn, asking him to allow us to use the gym because no one is using the volleyball net. Keep in mind that I was not complaining about the schedule. All I asked was to let us use the empty gym. Some woman behind the counter rudely interrupted and said in an unpleasant tone, "Were not gonna change the schedule just in case one person wants to play volleyball!" I looked at her and walked away. In my experience with people like that, I learned to ignore them because the more you try to reason with them, the more unreasonable and stupid you look. Later I learned that her name is Melissa, the coordinator for the facility. I think shes doing a horrible job not facilitating the members, allowing an empty gym not to be use. You need someone that has a sense of good judgment and is not rude. And sure enough no one used the volleyball net all night. Yes, real smart coordinating! Id say give that coordinating job to that nice young man, Heysn! Sorry, one star for ruining our workout!

First of all, I love the staff working there. Every time they are friendly and helpful. The new facility look awesome but the swimming programs are significantly too small relative to general demand. For example, I was trying to register my child for a swimming program on registration opening day on Friday. The registration starts at 8 am, I got in a wait list at 8:03 am. Child care center which I can see through the window looks very interesting, clean and friendly. They have a bunch of fitness programs, which I tried just one of them and it was OK. Their equipment are all new and works great. Locker rooms are clean and you can get free towels. The view is breathtaking. When it wasnt rainy I took a bunch of pics of amazing sunsets there during the exercises Every Friday they have family night and my kid loves it. I understand that it was really hard to start running such a big facility. At the beginning not everything was perfect, but it getting better and better. It looks like they care and I can feel it. I continue my membership for YMCA without any doubt.

I WOULD GIVE 0 STAR IF I COULD!!! This is the fifth time we were forced to not use the pool after we signed up for the membership. There were kindergarten event, then an elder event, church event..., when they happens, even when we were in the pool, we were forced to leave and chill in the cold air for an hour! As a paying member, I brought kids to the pool last Saturday for the fifth time in the past month. To our disappointment, they were holding yet another event of some birthday party. A staff told us that we were not allowed to swim in the kids pool, but in the lane swimming pool. Just a few minutes after we got into the water, another lifeguard came in and ordered us to leave with a very condescending attitude, as if we were not welcomed. She then threatened that she would call security to remove us. This is absolutely the rudest person Ive ever met in my adult life. AVOID THEM IF YOU CAN! I just cancelled my membership and will never come back.

Love the meandering river. But the changing rooms for the disabled have several shortcomings. 1) shower stall infinitesimally small; impossible to assist a disabled in/out of the stall. 2) Shower system problematic: EITHER OR for the nozzle vs hand wand also makes it impossible to bathe a disabled person: cannot get wheelchair into the stall, the hand held doesnt have the reach to allow a caregiver to bathe a person IN a wheelchair--and a person IN a wheelchair cannot even access the handheld in any way shape or form! 3) the uneven slopes of the tile floors result in lakes that do not drain. Sorry, but the dressing rooms present enormous danger for disabled and staffed caregivers. We wont be returning. Beautiful facility but major major issues for anyone needing handicap support.

The facility is clean, attractive, and well staffed. Membership includes lockers, short term childcare, two pools, weights, various sports, and classes. However, it is so crowded every time I go I have to share a swimming lane, last time with 3 others. The kids pool is even worse, with waits up to an hour. Swim lesson registration was full the same day it opened. Half of the resistance machines are in use at a given time. For a new gym I would not have expected it to fill up so fast.
