It has been a year since my initial review and would like to give a more up to date one. This is still a very nice YMCA, and my experience here has been mostly positive. All of the staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming. I am a regular at the Auburn Valley YMCA but come to this one during Auburns yearly week closure for deep cleaning or any other time where the basketball court is being used by another event. However, there are are a few minor issues I have with this YMCA. My biggest one as a basketball player is that only two of the 8 total basketball hoops (Im including the two hoops in the youth gym) have the fully marked paint boundary lines and 3 point lines. If you are not a basketball player, this doesnt seem like this should be a big deal but it really is important if you are into basketball beyond just showing up and shooting around for fun to pass the time. Ive sent an email addressing this issue and never got a reply. I just dont understand why the 3 point lines havent been added to the other hoops. They added them to their side hoops in Auburn. It makes a huge difference in shooting because the lines give you a visual reference of where you are on the court which in turn improves shot accuracy. At this point you just have to hope the two "good" hoops arent already being used when you get there and if they are youre basically guaranteed to have a bad shooting session on the unmarked side hoops. The other negative is that this place can get way overcrowded at certain times. Weekends are pretty bad; especially Saturdays. Sometimes there are so many people on the basketball court that its basically 4 or more people to a hoop which really sucks. The Womens locker room also smells really bad for some reason. The place is basically brand new but theres this constant strong, musty, moldy smell in there. Auburns YMCA is much older and their locker room doesnt smell like that. I do, however, love the two new large private changing stalls that have been added in there. The lockers themselves are also top of the line and way nicer than anything Auburn Valley has. All in all, a great alternative for when I cant play basketball at Auburn Valley but with a few minor issues.

Nice new gym and new equipment.... The only problem to be aware of is if you have a young daughter or female family member she may be exposed to paedophiles in the womens changing room and showers. The YMCA is now allowing members to use changing rooms depending on what gender they think they are that day and currently there is a large Hispanic male adult with a short beard that has been hanging out in the girls changing room and he just sits their watching girls change and shower I notified the staff and they informed me that nothing could be done and any complaint that was filed would be disregarded because the pervert is protected. Last I heard there was another adult male hanging out in the women bathrooms and was looking in the toilet stalls when they were being used by women. Please beware of this policy.

Loved it!! Only thing that bothered me was the use of the spa. It states that it is for 15 and up ONLY. But I thought it would be ok for my 7 year old to sit at the edge and dunk his feet. I was told no one under 15 is allowed near the spa. I said ok and has my child get out. (They were perfectly polite and apologetic about it) I get that its the rule. About 30 minutes later, I saw a woman take her son in, I would age 3 or 4, and all the life guard said was, are you going to be ok in here? He said yea and that was the end of it. It wasnt a lifeguard that told me. It was another member of the staff. So, if that is the rule and policy, then maybe the lifeguards should enforce it??? But besides that little glitch, we were all very happy! Staff, lifeguards, all very nice and helpful....

This is the closest gym to my house, and I go about 5 days a week. This is a really nice, new, clean facility with a lot of extras like a rock climbing wall, sauna, and heavy bag. The staff are all very friendly. The only down side for me (and this is based on the fact that Im a 20-something with no children) is that in the evenings the building is positively overrun with kids. Its loud, and crowded, and there are kids screaming and running everywhere- throwing balls where they shouldnt, etc. The staff doesnt seem to have a great handle on corralling all the children, but maybe Im overly sensitive since i dont normally have to deal with kids. Otherwise its an awesome gym (thank God the weight room is 15+ only, haha).

Ive only been a member of this YMCA for three days now and Ill never go anywhere else. The people here are incredible. I had my first meet up with Rochelle who does the FitPath program offered here and she is hands down one of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She listened to all my concerns, questions, and really made me feel like she cared about helping me. I am so excited to continue my journey here at the Y and I look forward to working with everyone as well. If you are looking for an incredible gym, this is it. No judgement, no hassle and a super amazing staff!! Thanks again to the staff and to Rochelle for making my experience here incredible. You have a member for life now!

Best right when it opens, other than that if you can deal with crowds, go for it. We once had our lock cut and broken into (mens locker room). Lucky the person must have gotten spooked cause they did not steal my keys, wallet or phone. A young employee told me they have a lot of thievery here, after they steal your locker stuff they take your keys and go to your car. Management suggested if you do not want your lock broken into to use the lockers on the main floor or second floor, never in the locker rooms. If you do want to use the locker rooms they suggested you get a very heavy duty lock with a narrow sliding bolt. Was never contacted after the incident, however a manager did take a report.

This location is amazing! Brand new facility with nice clean equipment. Lots of classes (be sure to sign up early). Seems like a good amount of drop in classes / activities as well. Two play areas - one which is extra has childcare and the other you stay and watch your kid play. Theres a teen room in the afternoon/evenings. The lazy river and kids swimming area is open all day which is pretty cool. So far the staff has been wonderful- helpful and friendly. The clean all day even getting the small edges along the floor with a dyson mini vac. Only room that stinks is the locker room, but they are constantly cleaning it - I think all swimming pool locker rooms smell funny.
